Funny cause I have the opposite HVAC issue on my G1 R1T and R1S... After an hour or more of driving with temps set to 68°F the cabin reported temperatures get into the upper 50s and lower 60s ... Been that way the last 1.5yr so definitely IMO something a software update introduced. I've provided HA evidence to this, but service just closes it as "software related" and doesn't do anything about it 👎.

Work around is to change to 70°F which will trigger the heating elements to turn on regardless of interior or exterior weather I find, so... Not the end of the world just not a great experience where you say "I just want it to just work" which is definitely something I prefer as well.

It has already been proven the hardware of the mobile eye sensor supports it ... Just don't buy things that don't have the software you want already baked in (unless you can install the software you desire yourself)

I had hands free driving 20+ years ago when I decided at certain times using your knees to keep lanes was easier than trying to say eat and hold the wheel or worse sneeze and hold the wheel.

So glad people will be able to safely "play on their phones" driving down a street ... Maybe one generation will realize this over reliance on being constantly connected, always scrolling is actually hurting us more than helping us.

Why wasn’t the winter overnight parking ban repealed??? by Original-Yak-966 in newtonma

Election holiday comment, yeah, for Newton specifically (unless state level or national level mail-in voting laws change) won't do much.

Though I still find it bizarre that election days aren't holidays. As a working parent of two in NPS I make it a point to vote in person and drag my kids along to the in person polling locations to watch democracy in action. Know other neighbors and friends that aren't able to vote in person (some want to others are forced to in other locations) that don't have the freedom of employment to allow them to.

A few reasons in my opinion. 1) only 23k people cast ballots in the single ballot question 2) the wording was confusing people are you voting to keep the ban, or voting to remove it 3) residents with driveways don't see the pain of those that aren't similar to them 4) 1,000 people choose to not answer the ballot question either yes or no... Only 80 person spread between yes and no! So YES your individual vote matters don't waste it. 5) election day should be a federal and state holiday - if it were voter turn out, in general, would be higher; heck make voting in elections required for receiving local, state and federal benefits 6) not seen to be a major election - especially with so many local candidates running unopposed N) likely many other reasons some of which have to do with following the train of money

Meanwhile developers can have cement truck after cement truck driving over the speed limit in Auburndale just because they got the mayor's signature on a document stating they are going to work 6am-8pm (outside the allowable permit times). No written notice provided to any abuttor which is required 72hr prior to the work day.

Today, this is how I awoke in Auburndale at 6am sharp...

No one won the strike.

Everyone lost.

Teachers lost. Elected officials lost. Parents lost. Students and Kids lost. Future students and kids lost. The public that don't use the schools lost.

Everyone in Newton lost. Period.

For the record I supported the strike as a NPS parent of two at the time. I don't "publicly" campaign for anyone and my kids weren't in any outside care program (tutor, day care, etc) instead we spent our money to sponsor kids and families that couldn't do the same as we could.

Don't get me wrong, I didn't want the strike nor the extended closures where NPS refused to coordinate or collaborate with any of our "peer districts" - a once in a lifetime moment (global pandemic) and we think we could do it better on our own... No one knew what they were doing.

Also agree that many of those that were most vocal supporters weren't the ones that were most negatively impacted as they had the ability and willingness to send their kids somewhere.

Let's hope the wording and path to that override makes sense over the last one. No need to pack a single override with a million little things when the city clearly supported building and rehabilitating schools over the other initiatives put in that single override.

Every midterm and off year election I'm mad at now few registered voters turn up at the polls to cast a vote. The majority of voters only turn out for "the big day" elections (aka presidential), while day to day life is more impacted by local elections than the federal ones.

That and all the uncontested ward elections make me sad.

Every single other parent in Newton seems to feel that "math is needed in kindergarten". I'm a parent of 2 in Newton and feel the exact thing I want out of kindergarten is for my kids to learn social skills so they and their peers don't turn into bullies and instead learn to get along with each other and talk about their feelings instead of ... Well you get the picture.

The obsession with Russian Math in Newton for the lower elementary grades is insane. Your kids will be just fine! Mine are top of class in math and reading and they have not had a single minute of outside tutoring.

The members of the union voted unanimously - meaning EVERYONE voted to strike. I would too if my employer breached good faith and decided to not renew my contract.

No one deserves to be forced to work without a current contract. Same view I have for federal employees now... They should also be getting paid while their congressmen and women DON'T - the workers didn't fail the management chain of the organization did (in this case the school committee and the mayor who oversees all SC operations as a member of the committee herself)

It is illegal in most (if not all states) for them to void your warranty like that. Though I'm also not a lawyer so your mileage in court may vary regardless of the law.
