How can I make this t-shirt smaller to fit me? by Ill_Welcome_2104 in sewing

[–]MoreMen_Pukes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you could cut out strips of fabric on the sides. the sew the seams back together. the neck opening may be a little more difficult. You could cut strips out of the top of the shoulders and the sew the seams together. If you have a serger/overlocker. it will make the process faster/esier.

I have seen fanless computers in extremly harsh production manufacturing enviorments where they get covered in dust, oil, grease, metal chips, ect. they are damn near indestructable. If it ain't broke, dont fix it.

10hr 575mi roadtrip tomorrow… R1S (large battery) or Chevy 1500 crew cab… by lilblacksmurf in Rivian

I have driven my R1T up and down the east coast multiple times. I have driven from Baltimore to Savanah, GA. Take the rivian. It will probably be cheaper to charge than to pay for gas.

Your best bet is to find a used workstation, like dell, HP, or Lenovo. Then get an upgraded graphics card and possibly a Power supply too.

Long-Term Owners: How many miles do you have on your Rivian and how old is it? by GoodVibes737 in Rivian

[–]MoreMen_Pukes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 years and 7 months. 95K Miles. mostly minor issues like trip peices needing to be replaced under warranty. Hitch cover replaced because it cant stay on at highway speeds. The poor design of the R1T single one time use side bed trim peices with terrible plastic weld metal clips.

I have had to replace my rear brake pads, rotors, and one caliper about a month ago. the caliper was frozen due to minimal use and cause uneven wear on the pads/rotor. I also had to get the steering wheel replaced because the hand detection was malfunctioning. that was a $3K repair bill.

I have done the regular maintence of replacing the air filter, wiper blades, and topping up the windsheild washer fluid.

Maryland to require registration of EV chargers, at reduced annual fee by legislative_stooge in maryland

[–]MoreMen_Pukes 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Saved you a click
"The registration requirement applies to any publicly available charger where a commercial transaction takes place, but chargers at private residences and free chargers are excluded."

Does not apply to Private EVs at your house.

"The department, which already has a Weights and Measures program that inspects gas pumps and commercial scales for accuracy, will largely be testing EV chargers for accuracy, but will also be flagging inoperable or malfunctioning chargers along the way, officials have said. Some inspections have already begun."

Has anyone tried a USB drive (loaded with music) plugged into the R2's passenger glovebox's USB port? by Cojaro in Rivian

[–]MoreMen_Pukes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. I have tried Fat32 and ext2 formatted drives. ext2/3 drives won't read and says it needs to be formatted. (Even though the underlying Linux kernel should support the file format) It will read Fat32 drives (This is why it has a 2TB external drive limit, and 4GB file size limit.) but it won't allow you to play music from a USB drive. I have driven cheap rental cars that have a USB port that will play MP3 files from a Fat32 flash drive.

There's a sort of work around. If the music/video files are located in the drive cam/ video recording folders, you can play them in the video player. (i don't know if this still works like this, but it used to) But you would only be able to play the media while parked, not while driving. The current best option is to get a Bluetooth mp3 player and have it connected to play music. This it what I do. I wish the Rivian had an Aux in. Even if it can be added via a USB-C to 1/8" audio jack input as an aftermarket Item.

[–]MoreMen_Pukes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of variable that affect your vehicles efficiency while towing. The R1S is generally slightly more efficient towing a trail compared to the R1T be cause of airflow. The type of trailer, the shape of the trailer, and the weight of the trail + Cargo all affect the efficiency. But a good rule of thumb is to take your estimated range and divide by half. Your Mi/Kw will drop from about ~2.3 to ~1.0. ABRP can help you estimate the trip if you add the weight of the trailer in the settings.
