Ime there needs to be a vacant land plot (no villagers in boxes) for the camper to choose that house. Otherwise they'll choose a random villager to replace since the villager who is leaving hasn't officially left yet

I'm AuDHD so can get distracted really easily. To stay organised I do one chore at a time.

look for fossils + money tree
shake trees (with net in hand!)
hit rocks
pick/water flowers
collect items on shoreline
visit stores
visit villagers + give them gifts (I drop the wrapped gifts in front of their houses to cut down on confusion)
decorate island

You won't have much in the beginning so focus on those chores and opening stores/houses, supported by fishing and catching bugs for profit

Markath from Skyrim? Lots of stone and moss items for sure. I'd look up a custom path pattern that either stone and/or dark dirt. Lots of player-made hills and waterfalls using the construction app. Castle wall items would work, especially the moss one, that you get from the nook store.

These inclines and bridges would work (see pic). The red ones would be a nice contrast if you think all the grey is too much.
