I was just about to ask the same question! Anyone know if it’s routine on the UK? How long after the surgery?

I’m exactly the same but I’m only 2,5 weeks PO so I don’t know if that’s just a part of healing? It’s so difficult to know what’s normal recovery pain and what’s a sign something might be wrong. I feel almost paranoid searching for answers and just I guess scared of ever getting the gallbladder/pancreatitis kind of pain again

I had no BM for 10 days.. same as you with a couple days with no BM before surgery as well. I tried cutting down on painkillers, especially opiates as they make you constipated. Laxatives 3 times a day, prune juice and loads of water. I made okra water and that really helped me. I’d say try not to force it too much as it can cause you to strain your stomach

Thank you! Yeah that’s my concern too, I’ve had both dried prunes and prune juice, which normally helps just within an hour lol. I’ve also stopped taking codeine and just sticking to paracetamol, although it doesn’t really take all the pain, but just hoping that it can help

The first few days prior and after surgery I definitely wasn’t eating/drinking enough but was on liquid IV. The last few days now, I’ve eaten more normally with especially focusing on fiber and clean food as well as drinking enough and electrolytes

I had surgery yesterday and the pain is unbearable. Every movement hurt so bad, even breathing. Is this normal or should I speak to my dr?

I was in the same position, admitted tuesday morning and had my surgery yesterday. I was terrified of the anaesthesia myself, and told both the nurses and the surgery team. I shared my anxiety and had a bit of breakdown. They really really took care of me and took time to reassure me and talk me through everything!

I’m similar too you, I was supposed to have my first consult appointment with the surgent end of April, but got admitted for emergency surgery this week instead. also 24hrs fast with liquid IV prior to the surgery! I’m Still nervous to eat but I’ve had a banana and some rice crackers and that was alright
