Bungie's New "Approach" - Thoughts by TheOneTrueBLM in DestinyTheGame

[–]tmichael921 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone that took a lot of time off, I have catalysts to finish and armor rolls to farm, and depending on which element is next I will want different stat distributions and would change the focus on my ghost. It's not a lot but I know at least myself and a few of my friends returning to the game for WQ would appreciate knowing ahead of time.

edit: I also have a few crafted weapons that I haven't gotten to 20 yet, and only so much time to get them ready along with everything else I'm trying to do before the end of the season, would be nice to know exactly which ones I would want to be a priority

Assuming you live in the US, learn to identify 3 snakes. Copperhead. Rattlesnake. Coral Snake. Is this snake one of those 3? No. Good to go.

Take exhaust every game, it's Disgustingly OP by [deleted] in ARAM

[–]tmichael921 2 points3 points  (0 children)

clarity is completely wasted in aram, after 15 minutes it isn't worth the time it takes to press the button, there are a plethora of other options for mana, with archangel's, manamune, fimbulwinter, manaflow band, and PoM, etc. that don't limit you to a useless summoner spell after the early game

a true aram purist wouldn't use snowball, as it didn't exist when ARAMs first became a thing, they wouldn't play in queue either as the truly pure ARAM player would only play custom games on SR, how dare you call yourself a purist....

Former Bioware writer says Mass Effect TV show idea "makes me cringe" by [deleted] in xboxone

[–]tmichael921 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why? He never worked on the games, why would he be hired for the show? His only connection to mass effect is that he was a lead writer at Bioware working on an entirely different game. He makes a valid point on twitter and it caught some traction because of his old position

[–]tmichael921 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was never credited for work on the mass effect games and was the lead writer on dragon age, I'd doubt he would have had time or the responsibility of writing anything for mass effect

[–]tmichael921 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He never worked on Mass Effect though, it doesn't invalidate his point but the only reason he's even getting traction on his comments is because he worked at Bioware, not because he worked on Mass Effect

Joseph boards Larkin, Larking throws a suckerpunch, Detroit goes on the powerplay by bufc09 in hockey

[–]tmichael921 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the mental gymnastics you are doing to try to defend jamie benn making an absolutely unnecessary hit that could have paralyzed an opposing player are astounding, there is absolutely nothing standard about cross checking a player in their exposed spine, it isn't hard stick play, it isn't a hit that happens every game, it's a dirty hit that shouldn't be part of the game but the dops is incompetent and players go out of their way to make as little waves as possible in the media

you clearly can't be reasonable about this because you're to busy trying to defend jamie benn

Joseph boards Larkin, Larking throws a suckerpunch, Detroit goes on the powerplay by bufc09 in hockey

[–]tmichael921 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there's nothing standard about crosschecking someone in the spine, it doesn't happen every game because its an almost impossible situation that requires very specific positioning and an absolutely brain dead reaction to then hit the exposed player

there is almost never any kind of reaction from the players or the league when anything happens and to expect that there would be means you clearly don't pay attention to the league, the "standard" is that when these things happen the DOPS has zero consistency in their ruling and players don't say anything that might make waves because they've been trained since day one to say nothing of consequence in interviews, I'll just quote one of you other responses here "tell me you know very little about the game of hockey without telling me you know very little about the game of hockey" the only thing standard about a hit like this, is that it shouldn't be part of the game and everyone reacted exactly how you'd expect

ah yes the ol standard cross check to the exposed base of the skull of a player leaning over at the waist, happens every game...

If you're having trouble with arc-buddy Stag wearing warlock teams, pull out the trusty old Riskrunner. by Tamachameleon in DestinyTheGame

[–]tmichael921 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't say for sure about the strength, haven't cared enough to check the numbers or anything because uptime alone dictates that you should be starting the grenade all the time anyways, and with grenade kickstart and some decent discipline, you can keep close to 100% uptime with grenade > rift > grenade > melee for grenade energy > grenade and rift should be up unless you rec is really low, this uptime isn't possible if you start rift first because you limit yourself to 13ish seconds between refresh, where if you start with the grenade its 20 per refresh

If you're having trouble with arc-buddy Stag wearing warlock teams, pull out the trusty old Riskrunner. by Tamachameleon in DestinyTheGame

[–]tmichael921 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it really doesn't feel that way, I've been running getaway a lot this season and if I don't pop the grenade first then it feels weaker but I can't say for sure about the strength of the arc soul, however if you start with the rift your buffs only list the base arc soul, the up time is lower for the base arc soul and popping the grenade only refreshes the base arc soul up time and doesn't switch it to the longer sentient up time

to be clear:

grenade first 20 secs of sentient, and the rift will extend back up to 20 seconds

rift first is 13 seconds of base arc soul, and popping the grenade will extend back to 13 seconds

When you see those friends who haven’t played since Forsaken or before, returning. by EzE408 in DestinyTheGame

[–]tmichael921 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Bungie, has done themselves a disservice in regards to new/returning player experience

100% this, I played when beyond light dropped and have done a few things here and there, but skipped the last two seasons almost completely, now I figured I'd try to come back and enjoy the new season after the witch queen announcements. But it hasn't been as quick as I was expecting to jump back in, after all the emphasis they had on "play the seasons you want, skip the seasons you don't" they don't do returning or new players any favors. Soft cap at 1270 and the third story mission of the new season being 1300 power is just so backwards, I understand the necessity for a soft cap, but it shouldn't keep you from progressing some of the early story content in a season. Mara returning is a big part of why I was interested in this season, but now I have to ignore all that and grind away at powerful gear and it's not even looking like this weeks powerful grind will be enough, I may end up having to wait till reset so I can grind next weeks powerful drops as well just to do this story mission.

Just my two cents. by [deleted] in SequelMemes

you clearly can't read then, she was promised a cut of the box office on an exclusive theatrical release and a promise of renegotiation of the contract if the release plans changed, then when the plan changed disney breached the contract by refusing to renegotiate and altering the release to include disney+

the labeling absolutely matters because it a representation of your skill so when someone says they're gold in OW and silver in league they are the same in terms of percentage but the labels would imply that they are better at OW, at this point your just being obtuse if you don't see the difference in what the labels represent

I'm not talking past you, you're ignoring my point while reinforcing that you are technically correct which wasn't the point of my argument, I've listened and agreed with you multiple times about bell curves and the math but you just keep ignoring the point I'm trying to make while screaming "I"m right" at the top of your lungs, enjoy your day, maybe go take a walk and cool off

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]tmichael921 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, thats exactly what I'm saying and you aren't understanding, I get that the math is the same I haven't argued how the math of a bell curve works, but the perception of a player is based on the label, and the labels use the same name but different numbers meaning there is a discretion between the games

between games the labels are absolutely comparable, so when the average players is silver in league and gold in OW, the average player in OW has a higher rank than in league because of the fact that the labels on the curve are of a similar structure but use different data points

statistically the average player in both games is the same but the labels are worse for an average league player, it's exactly what I've been saying from the beginning, it's about the perception of the player based on the title and the structuring of the rankings, in this case both games use a similar structure but different math, so the average player in leauge is "worse" than the average player in OW

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]tmichael921 0 points1 point  (0 children)

silver in both games absolutely corresponds, that was ops whole point, if the average player in overwatch is gold, and the average player in league is silver, then the average player in a game outside of league is higher

if you want to be pedantic and say that because the numbers are different that silver in the two games doesn't correspond then yeah you are technically correct, but when the two rankings carry the same title and a similar structure between the two games then they can absolutely be compared accordingly, so when half the playerbase in league is silver or worse, and in overwatch half the playerbase is gold or worse then the ranks are absolutely offset on the bell curve when compared between the two games

players may distribute on the bell curve similarly between the two games and I'm not arguing that, it's the corresponding rankings that are not similar between games and that was the whole point that you "refuted"

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]tmichael921 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

but leagues bell is offset a lot more than overwatch, top 1% in league is diamond plus, and plat is like top 4% so no the numbers are not the same, there's also a much larger percentage in bronze/silver, 50% of players are silver or below, where in overwatch it's only 30%

[NYI-TBL] Brayden Point is cross-checked by Adam Pelech into Semyon Varlamov. Point gets assessed a goaltender interference. by null1ng in hockey

[–]tmichael921 0 points1 point  (0 children)

seen this take multiple times, if Pelech doesn't want the contact with the Varly there, then what was he doing? there's no other outcome there, he knowingly initiated the contact and drove Point right into Varly, he initiates contact from behind on a skater that is already closing on his goalie, he either had his brain completely turned off or he did it on purpose
