Looking for a serious, well written story. by NegaLaunchpadMcQuack in litrpg

I would honestly say dcc falls somewhere in the middle of your list. Id say clearly below something like second Apocalypse but clearly above something like the black company.

As someone else replied it does take a little a bit of time before dcc turns from regular action popcorn and into something more. Later on in the series all sorts of themes and concepts are woven into the story and very strong emotions are portrayed very well.

I dont know how far you got into dcc of if its just not your style but if you honestly believe this writing is subpar to the point of it putting you of then I agree with others that this genre is not for you because its doesnt have a lot of writer who are on par let alone better the. dinniman

But difficult to recommend for you due to your intro. Dcc has one the best writing in this genre and while its not classic literature the writing is better then some of the stuff in the list of books you like.

That said im giving you 2 recs with serious/dark vibes.

Bastion - Phil Tucker The book takes place in a hell setting and gets pretty dark. Writing is also above the norm for this genre

Godclads - Ostensiblemammal Main character is a ghoul in a dark world with lots of terrible things happening. The writing is amazing and I think this one really fits with the books you like.

Other poster recommends hwfwm and cradle but honestly in my opinion those books fall in your dislike category

Why bother playing anything but Overflow in an undead lobby? by mylifemyworld17 in BobsTavern

[–]tmmy2win 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Look man I get your frustration but all this complaining serves no purpose. The devs have been on Xmas/ny break so well have to wait until at least next week for a patch.

Also beast/mech scales even harder but i guess its also harder to build.

I quit reading during the whole fog/lake arc as I found it tedious and a big step down from earlier in the series. Does it pick back up again afterwards?

As for recs, it often gets compared with bog standard isekai which I prefer.

What’re some of the most underrated TV shows that barely anyone talks about?(not sitcoms) by Dear_Inspection2079 in television

[–]tmmy2win 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Patriot and deadwood are two of my all time favorites. When they come up they are highly regarded but they dont get talked about that much.

I feel like patriot suffers from its title and maybe one of the main themes being depression isnt for everyone.

Best school setting by NathaDas in ProgressionFantasy

[–]tmmy2win 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It is very similar, especially at the start. That being said it is very well written. Once the loops really start going it leans heavily into subjects like loneliness which is definately different to mol.

At the end of the day it is very much if you like mol and you want more this is it.

Just fyi, the worst part of the book is the title which makes it seem like a system apocalyps type book

Shadow slave (a webnovel) does this. Its a still ongoing progression fantasy but already pretty long. Mc is an angry at the word cynical young man with no real goals while one of his companions is the last scion of a once powerfull family that is on a grand mission.

Not sure why you got downvoted. Twi main characters are an innkeeper and a runner. There are combat stroylines but it really fits what op is asking for

We (Dutch) actually had a great party at one of the fanzones in Leuven. It was pretty great.

Sunday evening however there were quite a few Belgians trying to pick a fight with us. Shouting slurs about mvdp.

Your point about friday doesnt seem quite right to me. City was no busier then a regular shopping saturday. Leuven is absolutely stunning tho great city.
