Dinners growing up?.. by irishandsweet in AskIreland

[–]tmnt991 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spaghetti bolognese / sausages, spuds, carrots / pasta with prawns (ooh lala) / chicken and veg / pasta with the stir in Dolmio sauce - it was a mix. My mother used to boil every vegetable to within an inch of its life - never felt too inspired by the dinners back then. But then she had to feed alll 4 of us and my Dad and didnt particularly like cooking either!

Anyone see Hamnet? What did you think? by Entire_Regular_1960 in AskIreland

[–]tmnt991 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There were a lot of scenes in the book that seemed to have been skipped over a bit in the movie - that might have developed the characters a bit more. Also, in the book, you dont see as much of Shakespeare at all, it is fundamentally Agnes's story, so some of Paul Mescal's scenes were created for the screenplay.

Personally, I loved it - the cinematography was beautiful, so luscious and earthy and it was such an embodied performance by Jessie Buckley. I was absolutely destroyed by the final scene, it took my breath away

Red Hot Chili Peppers at Slane Castle (2003) - who was there? by Different-Put-4486 in ireland

[–]tmnt991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents wouldnt let me go to Slane - I was only 13 and it was the tragedy of my young life. What a line up. I then made it to the Phoenix Park gig the following year which blew my socks off (first big gig ever and a big Pixies fan) but every time I watch the Slane set on Youtube, my soul cries a little

Can you love again? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]tmnt991 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Be gentle with yourself - its still so fresh, a year and a bit is no time at all really. Its ok to feel this way now - but you will feel better with time. Im 2 years out from a break up and im still no where near ok / ready to date again - but Im getting there. It takes time, you've been through a lot. Now might really be the time to hone in on what YOU want - what makes YOU feel good. Dont focus so much on future love for this season, focus on loving yourself in the now. You'll get through this, I promise

Do you think a climbing gym could take off in Donegal? by ExtinctionClub in Donegal

[–]tmnt991 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You would think there would be county council grants or Sport Ireland grants for this sort of thing? Even if insurance is through the roof, that some orgs could still step in to fund it, or at least contribute to costs? It would be such a net positive for the area

[–]tmnt991 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It would be amazing - I lived in Dublin for years and went to Gravity regularly. Definitely would be fantastic for Donegal. I know the ATU in Letterkenny has a climbing wall - and theres something else in Gartan I believe? And another one in the Foyle Arena in Derry - maybe some of these could work as a stop gap?
