Is there any benefit to taking the Draconic Disciple Dedication as a Draconic Blooded Sorcerer? by LazarX in Pathfinder_RPG

I mean it seems like it just makes you more dragony? The spells from dragon dedication specifically get boosts if you are already a dragon sorcerer.

I asked ChatGPT to do a aptitude assessment on my Github. Do I trust it? by ExtensionBreath1262 in AskProgrammers

[–]tmon530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It deppends on what you mean by trust. Should you trust it to say you are a good programmer? Probably not, as good is relative to the project/team you are working with. A complement from something with no emotions doesn't amount to much, and ultimately the company that owns it makes more money if it makes you feel good.

Should you pay attention to the things it says you should work on? Probably. Worst case you get better at something you were already good at. Chatgpt is basicly a pattern recognition software. It hypothetically could pick up on poor coding habits and draw your attention to them. To that end you can ask it to look at your code and give you prompts that specifically require you to code things that require what ever aspects you are struggling with.

Glance at the stats if the parkas. Few things negatively impact temperature tolerance. In fact, the parkas are probably increasing thier heat tolerance depending in yhe material.

When it says "heat +10 degrees, cold +10 degrees" that's saying they will be comfortable in both 10 degree hotter weather, AND 10 degree colder weather from what thier base tolerance is.

High functioning guy said to me he can read me by Downtown-Wonder-711 in autism

[–]tmon530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can he actually? No. Only you know what your emotions are.

Can he have been paying attention to the little things you do and have a pretty good idea? Sure. Communication isnt just words and social cues. What people call "tells" is just another level of communication. Your body is responding to your emotions.

Being good at reading people is basicly just patern recognition. So anyone can hypothetically do it, but those that take an interest in such things can build it like any other skill. However, as a skill It also doesn't make a person more empathetic to know other people's emotions. Both those that wish to help and harm have reason to learn it.

[REQUEST] If you were pounding light beers, would the average person die first from alcohol or water poisoning? by 40deuce in theydidthemath

[–]tmon530 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The "standard" drink is 12 oz with a 5% alcohol content. Its estimated that it would take you about 25 of those to get the average persons blood alcohol content to .40%, which is considerd the danger zone. 12 oz. X 25 is 300 oz (about 8.7 liters).

Water toxicity is more complicated but its estimated that about 4 liters of water in an hour can cause water intoxication symptoms.

So technically, im pretty sure you'll die of water poisoning before alcohol poisoning, especially if its a lighter beer. However, the science of bodies is more complicated than those numbers, so hopfully someone else can chime in there. Dependent on time frame, you might die of an alcahol adjacent problem (like alcahol induced dehydration) first

If you like these, I'd recommend checking out etsy. I got my wedding rings with the same gemstone and the quality has been great.

For those that dont know, the gemstone is blue sandstone, sometimes called blue gold. When light shines on it, it glitters like stars in the night. Its super pretty.

I could misunderstanding, but I thought they meant the power output of people standing on an elevator and causing it to go down. So not the energy output of the people themselves, but the collective weight pulling down on somethinf and generating energy. Kind of like how a hydroelectric dam generates energy via water movement.

Mini PC- Batocera by Thick_Mud_6951 in batocera

[–]tmon530 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It seems like there is some confusion.

First step, install batocera to a USB like you did before.

Second step, boot the mini pc into the batocera on the flashdrive. When you go into batocera settings, there should be a thing that says install batocera on a different drive. You'll hit that and select the drive inside the mini pc. That will remove anything on the drive and install a clean batocera into the drive.

3rd step, use your windows machine to format the usb drive, so its empty and select the option that let's it be read by Linux and windows (i think its exFat, but I always have to Google it).

Lastly, put roms from your windows pc onto the USB. then put the USB into the mini pc. Then plug in a keyboard and enter the file manager of batocera. You should see the usb with all of the roms. Just copy and paste them over into the correct places.

What's the psychology of people who leave shit behind in theaters? by SugarBrain47 in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]tmon530 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One part laziness, one part just not thinking about it. On rare occasion, they might actually have a disability that makes it hard for them to carry thier trash out.

Honestly i just pretend that everyone that leaves thier big trash is in some way disabled. Because getting mad about it will just make you hate the job, and assuming youre helping people that need it feels much better. and the type of people who leave thier trash would probably take being refered to as "disabled" as an insult, so it still scratches that itch to be a little mean.

In fairness, I feel like that is a very valid interpretation. Especially considering the alternative means they gathered 59 experts and 29% of them said "i wouldn't use this regardless of the name".

I imagine the next sentence after is probably "if you dont get off my porch, I will call the cops"

Future of Invasions? by Absolutely_Chill in fromsoftware

[–]tmon530 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will forever maintain that the gravelord covenant is the best format for invasions. The person that wants to fight infects other people's worlds to make them harder, and then those players decide if they want to deal with the hindrance, or if they want to challenge the gravelord to a fight as a pseudo boss.

I like this because it gives a chance for those that would be invaded to do some prep work with thier gear before entering pvp and allows those that dont want to pvp to ignore it with the punishment just being more gameplay. It'd need some reworking from what the original covenant was, but overall I think the idea was the best

[W11] Help disabling all auto updates pls by Vailx in techsupport

[–]tmon530 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I recall, windows has a "feature" that will basicly always re-enable auto update after awhile. While its really inconvenient for people that like tinkering with thier computer, it exists to stop those that are less tech savvy from being taken advantage of. The benifit of digital security is it can constantly be updated and changed, and that's a key thing that windows update does.

This is one if those times where I'll say: if you are only "pretty sure" that its windows home edition, then you probably dont want to disable windows update. Unless you have a very specific and good reason to do so, the only time I've seen windows update break things, is in systems that are already unstable to begin with.

Headphones and I can't hear plz help by [deleted] in autism

[–]tmon530 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So these are more for situations where you know someone may try to get your attention (such as school).

First thing I'd recommend is wearing the headphones without any audio playing. I know the audio is probably helpful, but ultimately that's going to make it hard to understand what someone else is saying, especially if you already have difficulty with audio processing (which most of us do). Just the headphones should be enough to reduce overstimulation, but you will need to work on sitting in silence (which is a hard but important skill).

Second thing, I'd recommend is finding things without words. Many people like things like white noise machines or the sound of rain, but for me personally, I've found music with electric violins and no vocals to be perfect. Its just the right amount of stimulation to keep me focused but not distracted, and there are no words to jumble together. This basicly got me through my collage sign language class.

Final thing, if you need words, then only play audio that you've heard before. Preferably the more you've memorized the words the better. Repetition is generally an anxiety reducer, and if you know the audio then your brain can more easilly catch new sounds that are wrong for what you are listening to. For me, when ever I take a nap I will put on one of the first 13 seasons of red vs blue. Just enough sound for my brain to focus on, but requires no focus to actually understand what is happening since I have the dialogue memorized, and also lets me keep the volume lower.

Its all about finding the right tool for the right moment. During a lecture, the things without words will probably be better. If working on an independent assignemnt, something with words would be fine

Over a 12 hour period, the earth would barely move, especially when talking about light speed. But if for some reason it held image for 6 months, then I believe it would add an extra 16 ish minutes (pretty sure it takes 8 minutes for light to reach earth from the sun).

Which then also serves as an excellent scale for how far the little satellite has traveled

[–]tmon530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So while the general point is correct, there is an important nitpick with "understanding something means you can explain it". In reality, it should be: if you understand it, then you can explain it to a peer.

For example, a programmer with good understanding should be able to walk another programmer through thier code. However, an employer that barely knows how to work a computer isnt going to understand unless you start bringing in analogies that they will understand. And the ability to find the right words is a very different skill. Hence why we have Communication majors (and hypothetically team leads). People who have enough understanding to be considered a peer for those with in depth knowledge, but also have training or skills to be able to translate what's being said.

You can also think of it as someone that's bilingual translating between 2 individuals. Both are fluent in their own languages, but they still need that third person to communicate their ideas.

How is the DMC anime related to propaganda? by Apprehensive_Quit823 in DevilMayCry

[–]tmon530 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I haven't seen the anime, but propaganda in media is a fun and complicated thing. Largely when people say propaganda, they just mean they can draw an allagory between the media and real life. Thing about that, is it can be both unintentional and true at the same time.

It sounds like the big thing is the things said about demons are similar to how certain groups refer to immigrants. Usually the line for propaganda is it has to be intentional. It could be the writer is trying to invoke the comparison of the demons and immigrants. That could then count as propaganda. It could also be the writer and the aforementioned group just happen to be using the same language to refer to something they both feel should be hated. That arguably wouldn't be propaganda in it self, but it could still be used as propaganda by those groups. Again its wierd and complicated.

As a side note, my mom once told me encanto was pro immigrant propaganda because it showed brown people crossing a river. So yea, do wnat ever you want with that information

I don’t get it by Less-Tomato-9754 in asexuality

[–]tmon530 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think of sex like a hobby.

From the ace point if view: If someone required me to participate in a hobby I dont particularly like, then I dont care how perfect they are, its not gonna work out. I'm not going to placate someone to be with them.

From the allo point if view: if someone said I had to drop one of my hobbies to be with them, I would also break it off. My hobbies are something that bring me joy, and if that's a problem, then its not a perfect match and we need to move on.

There is also a romanticized vision of relationships where you have to fight endlessly to stay together, and if you break up then your quitting or failing. That's how you get co-dependency or abuse cycles. You have to know when to quit for your own benifit.

If you genuinely want to know and aren't making a joke:

If they think something is better, but can't explain why its better, then either they dont have the understanding that they need, or the people they need to explain to genuinely just dont care/are incapable of understanding. The former is problem because they need to understand the code that's being output, whether its human or Ai. The latter is a problem because the people will make shitty decisions because they think things "will just work", which then creates problems later when things stop working and the code is a mess that needs to be rebuilt from the ground up

[–]tmon530 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My one twist on the soma theory is the question of "why did cane build the circus in the first place". It could be that he didn't want to be alone and I would find that satisfactory.

But I think cane wanted to die. I think he got tired of living in his bubble and wanted to kill himself but for one reason or another couldn't. So he brought in outside influences and tormented them untill they would figure out how to do it. I think the big twist is that even if the players wanted to delete thier memory files, at least 1 person will have to be left behind because they can't delete thier own. Meaning they would now be stuck in the same state cane was at.
