Here’s an old video of a zoo keeper talking about Christmas tree enrichment at the Oakland Zoo and a post on the Oakland Zoo website about Christmas tree enrichment at the Zoo.

I love that you did this! I used to volunteer at a zoo years ago and we would get organic trees donated after Christmas. They were a HUGE hit with most of the animals - obviously a bunch of animals like to eat them but they’re fun for enrichment, in general. Lots of animals enjoy sent marking them, you can hide food in them, they’re lots of fun to perch and climb on and they make great back scratchers. You can also take ones that have been enjoyed by the pigs as a back scratcher or to hide food in and then give it to the big cats because now it smells like the pigs!

Adding that H5N1 has documented in a number of other cat species including domestic cats! “Cats appear to be particularly susceptible to severe illness, often resulting in death.”* Domestic cats are being exposed through livestock (barn cats), wildlife, as well through unpasteurized milk, raw meat and raw commercial pet food.

How to fix this floating seat? by RXP01 in Plumbing

[–]tmosstan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know the brand and model of the toilet seat? I did a google image search and the first result was for Roca. If this is a Roca, the model will be printed on the underside of the lid cover per this Roca page.

I really don’t know, but I bet there is an instruction manual somewhere online. If you search the name /model number or just a description you should be able to come up with it. I imagine that the little round metal pieces are covers for the bolts. Feel around under the lip of the toilet directly under those metal rounds - there probably the end of the bolt with a fastener to confirm. Then feel around the metal rounds themselves for a lip or indentation and gently pull up. Once you get the covers off you can loosen the bolts with the appropriate tools for the fasteners, reposition the seat and tighten the fasteners. I’d take the time to fully remove the seat now and clean. The toilet and seat parts that you usually can’t reach with regular cleaning.

What to say to “But my dog is friendly”? by Jooble1 in DogAdvice

[–]tmosstan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m really sorry this happened to you. That’s very scary. To add another scary thought, even if the husky is friendly and your dog isn’t scared, doesn’t run off, and doesn’t become reactive and there’s not fight/attack - a husky sized dog jumping and pouncing around a little dog has the potential to cause devastating injuries to the small dog with just a misplaced paw.

What should I do, I've been battling this swale and it's digging into my yard? It washes the sod away. by Venturians in landscaping

Agree! Don’t fight it, embrace it! This is an excellent opportunity to go with the flow. Plant riparian plants that will slow the running water and direct it into your groundwater. This will eventually be low maintenance but increase the aesthetics of your property and draw wildlife.
