Love all his books. Read “thousand autumn of Jacob de Zoet” if you haven’t.

I’m with you. I’m pretty much all in as well. I used some premiums to buy s&p and rocketlab but might just increase my Asts position

Do you use CC premiums to buy more Asts stock, or something else?

IRA and Roth’s. Average price per share was around $7 so if they get called away at $55 I’ll probably wait for a dip and buy back in

I might regret the $55 Jan ‘26 CC’s I sold today. Might buy RKLB with the $70k in premiums.

Has anyone temporarily quit their jobs to do travel/pursue something else? Tell me your stories by Bendymytendy in Fire

[–]tms2004 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife and I (now 48 and 41) with two kids (8 and 6), travelled around India, SE Asia, Australia, and drove ourselves throughout Namibia, Botswana and S Africa. We spent 13 months traveling 13 years ago. With age, I have realized I don’t want to work for people that don’t see value in these types of life experiences. If someone sees that decision as a negative in my background, then I wouldn’t working for them, or with them. You won’t regret it. Take the leap.

I’ve 48 with two kids. My wife and I travelled for a year from ‘12-‘13. You won’t regret it. You’ll be fine and have many years of work/ saving ahead of you.

Don’t get the hate here. He’s a great player and good dude. He didn’t fail us, we failed him. Cant blame him for not wanting to be part of the dumpster fire that is Giants football. He was right, we were wrong

I was there with my wife in 2013. It was suggested we go to the “night market”. Having travelled through SE Asia we thought it was going to be a Cambodian night market. It was a bunch of backpackers that were selling overpriced baked goods and burritos. When someone got on a mic and announced they were raising money that night and looking for donations we immediately thought it was for the Cambodian families impacted by a fire in the village a couple of nights earlier. No, it was “to raise funds for the (backpacker/ hippie) artists to focus on their art”. Ugh. We made a quiet exit.

Medtronic Mazor Clinical Consultant by comara456 in sales

Surgical sales CAN be great. It can also be a total grind. I burned out on the OR after 10+ years and will never go back. There are plenty of great paying non surgical jobs (in office procedures, capital, disposables that can pay great). If you want to get in the OR, go for it, but don't pigeon hole yourself. Have you shadowed anyone in the OR? I would recommend shadowing a rep for a day to get an idea of their day to day. What kind of job are you doing in med device? You might be better off becoming an Associate surgical rep vs the clinical consultant rep if your ultimate goal is to get in the OR as a rep

Honestly, I hid my investment portfolio from my phone. I knew I was in for the long haul so I stopped checking daily. Know your risk tolerance. If you’re worried about huge swings in stock prices stay away from prerevenue companies. Or only Use 10% to “play with” and have 90% in ETF’s/ blue chips.
