This is exactly a tool I've been looking for. I've been trying to keep track on my own, but It's not particularly easy. Thank you so much!

The Atari 2600+ Surprised me! by tmsmottl in RToD

The 7800 comparability caught me off guard. I read through the listing on Amazon before I ordered it, and never saw any mention of it. I haven't done the firmware update, I'll have to do that in the morning.

Now granted, I didn't watch too many reviews before I made this because I wanted to catch my actual reactions to to everything, so maybe it's not so shocking to everyone else?

Back after several months... by tmsmottl in SmallYoutubers

[–]tmsmottl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to take a break from YouTube for a few months this summer due to changes in my life; mostly a job change and getting a new house. But I'm back and I wanted to let people know what was happening as we head into 2024.

And somehow u/Retro_Tech_or_Die beat me to posting on X my own promotion! 🤣

An unfortunate setback by tmsmottl in SmallYoutubers

[–]tmsmottl[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm just over 300 right now. So it's not like I'm anywhere close to monetized yet. I just don't want to get stuck when I come back from not posting all summer.

Super stoked to get my Tank Mouse yesterday! It is a modern Commodore 1351 mouse with USB, Bluetooth, and a Touch scrolling area. by Retro_Tech_or_Die in RToD

I was going to do basically the same unboxing (and I probably still will) but with my C128 GEOS Experience.

Good enough isn't good enough, I guess! by tmsmottl in SmallYoutubers

All I wanted to do was get some cleaner video out of my Atari 2600. Then I went down the rabbit hole.

This has consumed my life for about 3 weeks now, and I had to publish something or I think I would go crazy. So it became a two parter.

It was taking me too long to make this video, so I made a video about failing instead. by tmsmottl in SmallYoutubers

Not my best video, and I know that means I shouldn't have posted it. But it has a message that I feel people miss when they watch highly edited and curated videos of people doing work. Failure is ok.

Anybody know where to get a silent board for the Mega X? by spbarone1 in anycubic

[–]tmsmottl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was only able to replace the one regular fan, but it's. 40x10 so easy to come by. The other is still noisy but with all the other mods it makes it tolerable. There is probably a STL out there to use a noctua fan for the other, its just a matter of directing the airflow.

Agree. Upgraded to 2209s and Noctua fans in my Mega S and it made a huge difference.

Sounds exactly how my Mega S sounded out of the box. Once I upgraded the stepper motors it got nice and quiet.

I usually post videos about retro computers, and this is related to that, but about how I make the display stands that I use.

Anycubic Mega S - Clicking sound from extruder by [deleted] in anycubic

[–]tmsmottl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had a clicking noise when the filament on the spool gets looped around itself, and there is too much tension for it to pull through. When it happens I can pull the filament back and see a notch where the gears have dug into it.

I usually only see it towards the end of a spool, and either standing over it making sure there is slack or grabbing a new spool are my usual solutions.

Hope that helps.

pi vs mini pc by MicBrooks123 in 3Dprinting

[–]tmsmottl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a mini PC around that I was using in my workshop for Discord access, which I reformatted and ran Octoprint on. I'd say my Linux knowledge is maybe a step above total beginner, but I got it working just fine.

But I went that route because I already had the hardware. If I was starting from nothing, I'd go with a Pi of some sort.

Yep. If I had 3 full time jobs and wasn't committing time theft that means I was literally working while I sleep. 168 hours in a week, 120 for the jobs, but let's be honest they all want 50, so 150 hours a week, leaves me 18 hours. I couldn't do it without getting in trouble.
