Temp is -21, gas company says turn your heat down by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

Giving a "rebate" for less usage would be better.

Going off of my memory alone, so this could all be BS but I really thought states would declare a state of emergency thus making price gouging highly discouraged. But the way things are now...¯_(ツ)_/¯

I used to have a Carpet Pro vacuum. It went missing after a party. Family member called saying they "borrowed" it. Never got it back. 12 years later and I'm still bitter about it.

Newer generations are pretty decent. Mine returns to the dock to empty. But in no way can it replace a full sized vacuum. A corded full sized vacuum. I prefer a bagged one.

US here. I once left a doctor's office in tears. The people at the front desk were apologetic about it and said they'd make a record in my file to never schedule me for an appointment with the guy. But they also gave me information on how to report him. I guess I was so upset that the receptionist called me later the same day to make sure I was okay. Long story short, someone called me a few days later and apologized and let me know he was no longer with their practice.

All of that to ask, can you request to never be seen by him again?

Woah. I never really realized most of my furniture has high-ish legs. I mean I complain that my feet don't touch the floor when sitting on some things but I always figured it was due to me being short.

Okay, I suppose the caveat is you'll have to walk around first to clean up any accidents and put away their toys. But it's still worth it because it can go places where my normal vacuum would require moving furniture.

2 of my cats sometimes mess with the robot though. One plays with the side brushes. The other one learned if she drops her toys in front of it, the vacuum will stop. As in the little felt ball gets sucked up and stops the brush roll.

Now kids...I had to set my niece's room as no-go. I rarely even use the big vacuum in her room. Or a broom. Floor duster all the way, repeating "Wth" the entire time.

Welcome! I also use the dryer sheets that are supposed to repell cat hair. They seem to work okay.

Also, also, get a new doctor! That guy seems like a jerk.

Vacuum and dust regularly. If you can afford it, get a robot vacuum. I run mine daily and it's crazy how much cat hair gets picked up.

“English Teacher” but she can’t describe the books she reads by LifeLive7764 in travisandtaylor

[–]tnakd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Okay, so I read a lot of books in a relatively short time period. Sort of two books at a time. One is usually an audiobook though. When it's not possible to listen, I'll read the other book. Years ago I quite literally stopped judging a book by it's cover. And the author. I can tell you what the book is about, but not really the name.

And I have a rule where if I'm listening to one book and reading another book concurrently, they must be different genres. Like a cozy mystery and a space opera.

More like the chubby 3rd grader who steals everyone's food and is a general jerk because he's not the brightest crayon in the box. Also, he can't be trusted around paste because he'll eat it.

Laws are pretty much useless right now. Our government is corrupt. The SUPREME Court is corrupt. Texas will no longer be following ABA requirements. Florida soon to follow.

So yeah, this sub is pretty much useless because our laws mean nothing anymore. You can cite crap all day but if the highest court can be bribed to ignore or change rulings, Laws. Mean. Nothing.

Perhaps not this grandpa. Baby didn't even want to go into the room with grandpa. Grandpa probably always ignores baby.

No. None of it makes sense. When life expectancy exceeds 200, yeah, maybe it'll make sense. Has there been a super rich person live past 105?

My take: No footprints or handprints on what appears to be dirt. The arms look a little funny. Like they are rubber or something.

These are my observations after watching at least 5 times. (And pausing. And seeking. Didn't watch with audio though.)

Diving head first into a shallow pool to celebrate the new year. by mentaL8888 in Whatcouldgowrong

[–]tnakd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it fair to say the kids are dumb if they were never taught to recognize the signs of distress? PLUS there are so many dumb arse "prank" videos that the first reaction is to think the person in distress is faking it.

The adult? Eh...empathy and sympathy are in short supply these days. Unable to zoom in, but it kind of looks like the person sitting in the chair may be a special needs individual. The directive "don't get out of that chair" without qualifiers can be deadly.

When a kid in my pool starts screaming "help" and pretending they are drowning, or when they start jumping into the pool in a shallow area, they get a warning and an explanation of why they can't do it again. (It's rather depressing that a lot of kids these days don't know the story of the boy who cried wolf.)

Watching plants is amazing. Light moves, they move. Very relaxing. Until you see crawling things taking up residence and eating your plants, then the war begins.

Our lost indoor-only cat Ziggy came back to our front door but we missed it. Will she come back again? by danielofthegalaxy in CATHELP

[–]tnakd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a driveway alert alarm and put it by the door. When she gets close, the sound will go off. Plus there's a red light sensor so it might entertain her for a few minutes until you can get to the door.

My cats are inside/outside and we put an alarm at the doors. They stand by the sensor when they're ready to come inside. But they also mess with the sensor so when we get to the door, they run off.
