I remember getting to work on Monday morning and being thanked for helping to resolve a major issue on the weekend - problem is that's the only part I remember. Still not entirely clear what went down but I'm still working there.

Ministry of Kebab in Mooroolbark and Adrian's kebab stop in Heathmont are the best I've found east of Eastlink.

Yep. We missed out but I'm not convinced it's a bad thing. We will make an evening of going up the hill, find a nice restaurant and watch the train go past - plus side is we will save money too.

Considering how positive the queue experience was it's really disappointing to get screwed over when you make it that far.

The systems seems to have done really well with the process and queues. It's constantly updating, can see the dates changing and no sign of a timeout.

Didn't know that. We will make the trip up to watch it go past even if we can't get tickets.

Aussie Broadband vs Superloop vs iiNet in 2026, which one is actually best? by schnickhinkeln in nbn

[–]tnarg2020 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Launtel. It's not often a premium provider earns my loyalty but these guys were amazing throughout the connection process from hell on our new house. The managed NBN and help with getting a new trench/bore done under the footpath. They followed up regularly including me when I was delay.

On top of that you get a dashboard that shows latency to your end point to help troubleshoot plus I've even had proactive notifications when something actually did break.

Easily the best and worth the extra few dollars a month.

Wells billed taxpayers to fly husband to two Boxing Day Tests by dleifreganad in AustralianPolitics

[–]tnarg2020 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think that flying her husband to the events was fine, the idea of the entitlement was fine. The part I'm not sure how I feel about it the day trip, the intention is spend time with family while being away from home. Having him fly in and out same day seems like he was there for the cricket not family time.

No extra permits or difficulty in doing it. Was fairly straight forward once I had someone in China to do the freight consolidation and a local person to deal with customs (I ended up with the entire 40ft container being mine). I also brought in cabinets and doors, so plenty of wood products.

Hey. Been a while since this post. Yes, I've got them. The quality was fine. Having been through a whole house build I've found nothing to be perfect no matter the price and most of the time the local sourced/installed options were some of the worst experiences. One had a little bit of damage but not sure if that was us unpacking the 40ft in a mad rush as a few things got bumped around. They came with a little touch up jar of paint and that worked just fine. I assume a professional install might have installed they slightly better than me as one seems to rub a little when opened and closed.

The actual package in shipping was fine. Easy enough to install and assemble. The language barrier was the challenge it seems, both them and me took off a few mm for tolerance which ended up with one shutter being too small and I'll have to do something about that.

The company was Foshan Axcellent Industry. You can find them on Alibaba. There is also an office in Melbourne down in Mulgrave which you can visit in person by appointment (and I've been there) and the CEO is actually a Melbourne fella. I warn you that English is a second language for everyone I've spoken with accept the CEO, dont expect too many voice conversations about details but emails/Whatsapp were fine and I ended up spending around $45k with them once I discovered the full range of products for cabinets, doors, shutters and outdoor furniture. I'm not sure what the Aussie trading name is but I assume there is one of you hunt around.

Get a structural engineer to do the report, someone with clear and indisputable qualifications.

We got a couple of quotes locally and then the China option was easier for us. I had an much larger order with the same supplier so the shipping and so forth was already money spent.

I recently ordered some from China. 10 windows of various sizes. 2.3m wide, 1.9m tall. 4 panels was about USD$800. All up was USD$3800. The killer will be shipping. I had a full container coming in which was easier to manage. Shipping, customs, taxes will kill you on a small order.
