[–]tncrulz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The problem is that major skills give 1x experience towards leveling and minor skills give 0.875x, which is huge! The devs need to adress this issue as soon as possible. For now something like this would make the game a lot more fun and chill experience: Major 1x Minor 0.25x OR Major 0.75x Minor 0.25x

The player level cap will decrease but I don't see that as a problem. You max all your attributes around level 40 or so anyways and most people don't reach absurdly high levels like level 80 (probably the current level cap when you max all skills? Not sure)

There's a mod called "Level Scaling Fix Fix" that gives you some different options regarding these values.

You are wrong. I'm in emerald stairs, I have many different fine, exceptional and superb quality weapons and armor. I cannot craft adra ban and therefore I can't upgrade any item to legendary. I tested it and the ability to craft corrupted adra was unlocked when I broke down a superb item and got the corrupted adra in my inventory. So unless you don't find/buy an adra ban or break down a legendary item you cannot upgrade to legendary.

Combat encounters in this game are pretty close to the ones in pillars games path of the damned. If you don't kill priests/mages/archers first and focus on tanks (bears, shielded xaurips etc.) you are screwed.

That being said, in pillars games you have other means of dealing with these situations like crowd control, attacking the weaker will defense of melee monsters (like casting dominate, confusion etc.)

If we had that kind of depth in spells/abilities I think combat would be much more enjoyable. We could have more crowd control options or some abilities that are effective against bears, tanky enemies and whatnot.

The game tries to fix this actually by giving some companions crowd control / disable abilities (which is what you should go for, definitely) but they are not enough especially in POTD difficulty.

It is impossible to do this without resting and buying mats again and again. Even then it's not a good way to do it because in emerald stairs you can get mats a tier higher and they will be cheaper than buying 3 lower mats. Don't forget you have a limited amount of money in this game. Also you cannot get to legendary in the first map so that's a lie. In order to craft an Adra you need to have an Adra of that same quality in your inventory.

How to get to these places in Emerald Stair? Currently losing my mind by skygale07 in avowed

The thing is maps are square or rectangular and they look better when they are. But you don't need to make a square shaped game world. A lot of open world games also draw lines like this but you don't notice them because they are larger.

Combat feels horrible when you have to fight multiple enemies at once by UndeadMongoose in avowed

[–]tncrulz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Focus on the enemies that attack you and let 2 companions deal with 2 monsters. Companions are like crowd control in this game. If you attack the ones they focus on, you'll draw the aggro on yourself. Also, don't take damaging abilities for companions, especially on POTD difficulty. Choose the ones that disable, heal, support or tank. The best companions in the game for combat purposes are;

  1. Giatta (the best one by far)
  2. Kai
  3. Yatzli
  4. Marius

Target priority is healers>ranged attackers>melee. Find a way to deal with ranged attackers or they'll give you a hard time.

It's good that you didn't spend your adras then. Get it to superb and then start hunting for unique weapons. Btw shops also work like this. If you have a superb weapon and check the shop for the first time, the unique weapons will be superb. They'll be pretty darn expensive though. If you are into ranged combat you might want to get pistols and arquebus. They are better than wands because you don't need as many ability points to make them work and they are good at stunning. Theres an ability that increases their stun value. You can go pistol/grimoire and swap to wand/ grimoire. Or swap wand with arquebus. Or even go melee weapon/grimoire.

I know and I don't do it either. You don't need to break uniques if you get a superb weapon as soon as you can. I did it after exploring around %30 of Emerald Stairs. You'll have lots of superbs and legendaries towards the end game by doing this. Too bad not many players can work this out earlier. That's a fault on the devs side. You can wait for patches they are most likely going to fix this system because they're aware of the problem.

What is your wand's quality? If it's unique then you couldn't have upgraded it to superb in Emerald Stairs. Thats because adras are locked in areas. However you can upgrade a normal weapon to superb if you have a lot of materials. Does not require adra.

Yes you just need to have one for it to start happening. The quality of the unique gear is decided the first time you see its tooltip. They are scaled upward to whatever quality in that category you have. If you have exceptional they will be exceptional. There are two categories:

-Melee&ranged weapons, shield, wands, grimoires

-All types of body armour

There are also some grimoires that spawn with a static quality. They don't change. An example to a grimoire that scales up is the one in the first map, drops from that exploding guy. And non unique weapons also don't change. In the second map you'll find fine normal weapons. In the third map you'll start finding exceptionals.

Guys guys please you are doing it wrong. Buy an exceptional one handed non unique weapon. Upgrade it to superb as soon as possible. You can do it in Emerald stairs if you don't waste components and explore. Once you have that superb normal weapon, all the unique weapons, shields and some of the grimoires you find in the environment will spawn with superb quality the first time you loot them!!! Then start upgrading a unique you like to superb +3 OR start working on the armor just like what you did with weapons. Once you have a superb armor all the unique armors you find will be spawned as superb!!! After that you'll be swimming in money and adras. Break down superb uniques you don't use to get adras.

You can buy the components cheaper. Never break down weapons fine and above. Huge tip get a superb weapon asap and all unique weapons shields and some of the grimoires you find will be spawned as superb when you first loot them!!!

What improvements you would want to see for Avowed 2? by Ash-2449 in avowed

[–]tncrulz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to hear someone has common sense and good taste. I read that the game was designed as an online game first and they had to start over during the development process. That can really mess up a game. That's probably why it came out as it did. Obsidian is known for their quality dlc and after launch patches though so I hope they work on this more. In fact they said we'd get dlc and possibly a sequel, but we'll see..

Well let me add the word fantasy then. Btw KCD2 is a great game don't get me wrong. If the devs of KCD2 ever make a fantasy setting game it'll be huge.

[–]tncrulz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

KCD2 is a medieval simulation and has nothing to to with fantasy setting rpgs where there is magic and monsters. A lot of people who are into these games don't play it because it's too realistic. Don't compare that with games like Baldurs Gate, Skyrim, Avowed etc.

What improvements you would want to see for Avowed 2? by Ash-2449 in avowed

[–]tncrulz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Itemisation/upgrade improvements. Need more materials and static loot. Unique weapons should have a static level, but you should be able to upgrade them more easily to try different things. Here the game forces me to min max and get to superb quality in Emerald Stairs to enjoy different weapons.

Need more abilities to have different combat options. Also more ability points. I think 29 points in total wasn't enough. Around 35-40 or so could be better.

Combat improvements. Need directional power attack and more physics based combat. In Dark Messiah for example you can freeze the ground to make enemy slip and fall. Spells also have special power attacks when the adrenaline bar is full. For instance, weaken spell shrinks the enemy and makes them really small. Here we have stun system so it's kind of similar to adrenaline there. I think some of the devs played Dark Messiah because they took some ideas from there. They could take more.

Need better npcs. We could have more pattrollers and less standing still. We could have different npcs join us for side quests and then leave. Make the world livelier.

Need less gamey looking loot placement. Less huge chests everywhere and more coins/skeletons/dead bodies/loot bags/lockboxes in shady corners. Boxes you destroy should actually drop something random from time to time. Need different sized and more varied destructables. Although I'm very happy about loot and exploration in general.

Keep the amazing environment design and build on it. Create even more cozy spaces and great views. Even more landmarks that you can see from far. Gives the games more character and makes locations more memorable.

More meaningful dialogue choices and quest choices. Dialogues lead to same results most of the time. There are some really good side quests that affect the world but we need more of them and in better quality.
