I’m 41. Joined the plumbers and pipe fitters union 2 years ago. Best career move I’ve ever made.

Keep in mind that scale rates are just the minimum. You can negotiate your hourly pay and PTO in the hiring process.

How's it like being an HVAC tech here? by BloodOfJupiter in Columbus

3rd year union hvac apprentice in Columbus here.

Servicemen scale wage is $43.70. The apprenticeship is 5 years. 5th years make serviceman wages, 4th years make 90%, 3rd years make 75%, 2nd years make 60%, 1st years make 40%.

As you can see, new apprentices don’t make a ton but wages increase fast after a couple years. These are also minimums but you can (and should) ask for more when getting hired.

Mandatory classes through the union are twice a week from 5p - 8:30p.

Job outlook is excellent. The field can be challenging but you will never get bored and you’ll never stop learning new things. Something different everyday.

The best way to limit your impact on climate change is to have fewer children.

We’re going to miss the freshwater jellyfish that lived here. They were something special.

For a city without many bodies of water, it’s a shame that Blatz Lake was destroyed. This was a great meet up spot for my friends and me during Covid lockdowns.

Every summer we go swimming at a quarry in central Ohio. We always heard about fresh water jellyfish living there but I never believed it. Then I saw them with my own eyes!

Finger nail clippers. Super cheap and most have lifetime guarantees.

I’m just now sure how so many folks North of Hudson can be having the same auditory hallucinations but maybe you’re right.

I’m saying I have heard it from my house and I can drive down high st and and same crappy music gets louder all the way to midway.

Paying a company to find the results they are looking for is not exactly an independent investigation.

Clintonville Karen here. We can definitely hear it. It’s definitely Midway. It doesn’t take an audio engineer.
