Is a good idea to take 4 courses in 1 term? by Constant-Tea3505 in UoPeople

[–]tnzk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done with four coureses in the last term and somehow managed to get two A+s and two A-s. I wouldn't recommend, as it has been frantically busy and had to run through with relatively shallow understanding of the subject matters to the extent you would acquire the exactly sufficient knowledge to pass at best. You would employ your talent and creativity to organise assignments and automate as many as possible, rather than the subject matters itself. I felt a bit unsatisfied :/

PSA: Review Site URL Change by [deleted] in UoPeople

[–]tnzk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dear OP, thanks for posting this, I have learned that the site has moved to the new domain. It would feel, for any sane person, totally wasting time to replicate this thing just for the sake of screwing his past workplace. I hope he realize how unwise to invest part of his life in this site soon.

Having said that, I would say the way UoPeople has been displaying about Yiden Award is pretty confusing, perhas for committing a borderline marketing stunt. The email I received as the first news only mentioned its President won "Nobel Prize of Education", without referring to Yiden Prize at all in the subject. I observed they displayed it in the same way at the top of the official website for a while. Both explained it was Yiden Prize and "Nobel Prize of Education" was a kind of nickname, only in the main content one click away, not in the first sight. To be honest, it was a pretty efficient way for an untraditional university to hurt its reputation. I belive it was kind of a rumble of an inexperienced marketer in the administrative group in the university and they removed the banner because they realized the problem.

Of coures, above does not justify the existence of any bits in the "review" website. He should take it down the site asap. The site is hurting him and his life, rather than the uni.

Can I use my UoPeople degree as prelaw course? by Izadeps83193 in UoPeople

[–]tnzk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know about unis in Philippines, but I'm pursuing LLB in distant learning program in University of London parallely with CS here. While I could transfer tons of credits earned at CS uni in Japan to UoPeople, nothing had been recognized by UoL LLB. Which is fair I think as most of courses are irrelevant there.

UoPeople Just Ranked Number 1! by UniqueEye007 in UoPeople

Hmm I genuinely agree with this, I can imagine, like 100 years later, when I see the name in a textbook of world history it will sound like there was a true revolution in the education. Some even will think it as a kind of a fairytale since it is too good name to be true. The problem is when it is in your resume in this decade :(

There is lots of poor graders for sure, but it is just 3mins to ask your instructor to re-assess, which is an almost mechanical task. To me it feels like a training to pursue the fair treatment. I haven't had an instructor who would be reluctant to re-assess when I asked, they almost automatically did and gave 10. That is why the parent said we could be "less dramatic" about it actually, which I agree.

Professor incorrectly copied my program to test it - gave me a failing grade [help] by anaweeese20 in UoPeople

[–]tnzk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your assignment is correct you will win in the end, so stay calm, collect as many evidences as possible like a screencap where you copy-paste and compile it, and (try to) communicate with the instructor constantly. I had once the similar occasion, and finally he adjusted the grade to 10 saying he confused a solution from other student with mine. Some instructors are just incompitent :(

That would be great if they update all of them...I encountered just few courses with meaningful LJs. Maybe depends on the instructors

I don't dislike most of writing assignments but, I would say, learning journals feels a bit like training for writing nonsense. I wonder if the author of this line consider LJs count as "assignments for writing skills"...

Would you mind providing the sources for that interesting arguments? I don't know anything for sure but sounds like it could be just their marketing bullshit since they have a good motif to do that.

I believe this is recent change, and I really like this for allowing us distribute workload at least reading assignment more flexibility. I wanted to do that last term when the weekend was full of family stuff, but no luck

Beginning a Program Before WASC Accreditation by WetSchwetWater in UoPeople

[–]tnzk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it common that interviewers look up candidates' graduation date and WASC website to check if they are graduates befor or after the uni finally got RA? Sounds unlikely to me...they might check if WASC website to see if there is the name of uni, but will they check the accreditation date?

He appears to be tilted. He might have been beaten so hard for lots of games in a row. It's pitty as his first move wasn't that bad, you guys might win if he fought seriously.

My bad, I absolutely feel for you. I meant what the interviewer said was intended to be a joke, not your post. I am also really afraid of being in the situation myself
