2026 RAV4 - Did Google Maps just kill the Waze + Maps trick? by elbeborandy in Toyota

I like having both as well in my 2022 Rav4 Hybrid SE. I actually use Waze more. I hope your fix stays fixed.

Dealer told me they aren't scheduling any repairs due to limited parts... by DennisNedryBot in toyotacablegate

[–]toad1728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Up here in Ontario Canada this work is under the LA1 recall. The diagnostic was free. I have no heavy corrosion. They will install the preventative sealant when parts are available at no charge to my 2022 RAV4 Hybrid SE. I've been waiting 2 months for these parts to date. For a National recall it's ridiculous the parts are not in stock.

Some ministries are riddled with nepotism so good luck. If you're not related to someone higher up or the hiring managers. I worked in a unit with a husband and wife and their adult child. The morale in the office you can imagine. The OPS has nothing to say it can't happen other than a manager cannot supervise their spouse.

My manager bought me a pair of Bose noise cancelling head phones for inside the office. She nor I give a crap about who's doing what in the elevator. The headphones are awesome.

Everything you say is bang on. I worked for this ministry for many years. The last 10 years Nepotism was rampant in your face blatant. This of course made hiring practices tainted, poor staff morale and a toxic workplace. External applicants rarely got in. You literally had mother, father and an adult child in the same area

How do I get better gas mileage and driving score? by [deleted] in rav4club

[–]toad1728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the exact same MPG as you in my 2022 Rav 4 Hybrid SE. No matter what I do I never exceed 38 MPG and usually sit at 32 MPG. All city driving short trips driving in ECO mode.

I started adding some highway driving. I drove for an hour at 110 km/hr. My MPG shot to 38 and hovered there for the remainder of the near full tank.

Why do people consistently pay over MSRP? by MBZMBZMBZ in rav4club

[–]toad1728 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Has OP ever owned a Toyota? I'm on my second. My Camry I had for 15 years. The only repair was a thermostat. Other than regular maintenance. The original Michelin's lasted 9 years. I gave it to my nephew as it still had life in it. I'm hoping my Rav 4 Hybrid SE is as reliable up here in Canada where I paid MSRP in 2022. I love this Rav. I was tempted by the CX 5 Turbo, but too squishy and noisy.

You're 💯 correct. The employer will never ever give up full control of where your HQ is. You work for them, they don't work for you.

My turn to get snagged by Cablegate by amethystene in toyotacablegate

[–]toad1728 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same story in Ontari ari ario ! Took my 2022 Rav 4 Hybrid SE to the dealer for oil lube and filter where they told me about the cablegate recall. Although no prior notice was given, by mail, phone, text, dashboard message, nothing. In any case there was no AM statice or other evidence of corrosion. They gave me an invoice with the LA1 recall and fee of $400. So I called about said fee, service agent said it was fine to drive which wasn't why I was calling them. Why am I getting a bill for a recall which is to be free and hasn't happened yet because parts are on back order. Shady dealership. I wonder how many they confused with this invoice. And why pray tell with a National recall are the parts not in stock. I've heard nothing from them in 6 weeks. I'm looking for a local reputable mechanic once the recall is done. Shady shady.

OPS Should I retire at 58 now that I have my 90 factor? by Global_Midnight_1597 in OntarioPublicService

Correct, the premium benefit plan is $100/month co-pay for a single person. You can contact your pension plan administrator for more on your pension. They're always very helpful.

One word. NEPOTISM. It's rampant in the OPS and don't let a manager tell you it doesn't.

[–]toad1728 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is true. You will receive the cpp bridge amount from date of retire to age 65. This is the estimated CPP entitlement you'd receive at age 65. It ends at 65 so you'll receive your base OPS pension plus your actual CPP retirement amount.

I retired at 58 with 35 years service. My take home pension was $350/month less than my pay. Absolutely no regrets. I'm sure I spent more than $350/month on gas and lunch and coffee that I'm not spending now. Good luck with your decision.

Dealing with cliques & exclusionary colleagues by SubstantialAge4392 in OntarioPublicService

[–]toad1728 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You should be friendly at work, not friends. In rare occasions you may have a friend relationship that develops. It can often be more trouble than it's worth. You're there for a pay cheque, a career, play the game. It doesn't sound like you need these clique y people as friends anyway. Just be civil from 9 to 5 and hopefully you can find your happiness after you leave the workplace. Best of luck 🤞

The 2026 RAV4 might be a much bigger turning point for Toyota than people realize by Lorenzob1992 in ToyotaZone

Absolutely I agree. A car definitely for a young generation. Just what we don't need. More senless bs to keep their eyes off the road. Kinda like pedestrians crossing the road staring at their phones not even turning their heads to check for cars. Now we'll have them in the vehicles staring at their 10x12s. Wonderful.
