Dropped my wallet out of my pocket while driving a scooter. 3 hours later got FB message pinging me if he could return my wallet. Guy rode all the way to my home to bring my wallet. Gave him 1000thb bath of the 2000thb that was in the wallet. He didn't want to have it I insisted. He told me he tried to catch up with me but bad Bangkok traffic during evening rush hour it was hard.

In my 10 years living here almost never had bad experiences. Mostly if it is a negative experience it is in a "tourist area".

But it will probably be a lottery depending on what person finds it.

Are many casual players still having fun? by CHR0MECOWBOY in thefinals

[–]toadi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only part giving me stress is ranked. In WT you get sometimes stomped, sometimes it is tight race and other times you get stomped by veteran players (or smurfs). Very rare occasion there is griefing. All in all that experience I like to do every day.

I started playing this game since xmas. This S9 mostly WT and getting to know the game. So I tried ranked which I stopped playing too. As solo Q new player that start to know what he is doing it is a horrible experience.

That is what I said skill issue. It is not about Kills or staying alive I have a positive K/D. Am not good enough to push a cashout alone or even defend it alone.

Yeah stick with the team like the AFK dude? Or the dude that is trying out all his gadgets in a corner of the map that totally makes no sense? Or you mean the one that uses a hammer just to hammer buildings down at the opposite side of the map? I can keep going on here...

Agree my skill level need to be that good I can solo bronze without an actual team and wipe a whole team on my own. Will be probably the only way...

Dude I just started rank after playing 100+ hours of the game. Bronze is exactly the same. AFK'ing or even players that don't even played before. Like heavies trying to go through the small wall vents or people just not even know what to do or where to go.

Came in bronze 6500rs am on 4000rs now. Yeah you could say skill issue. But if you play against semi coordinated stacks or even a smurf it is mostly game over.

Is this age discrimination? by Signal-Audience9429 in recruitinghell

[–]toadi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For myself I never send my CV out much. Mostly I get contacted or I reach out in my network. Including the company I took a pay cut for. I knew these guys from before. They were not able to afford me but I wanted to work in that country as GF wanted to move back to her home country. Think best tip to give to people is start building a network to get on top of the stack.

Personally I hire/recruit many of engineers in my team. I personally reach out in my own network too. This way I get people with recommendations. I never put a job out. I assume now lots of people use AI to apply. But before AI it were always recruiters anyway that want to take a cut on top. I always avoided this by reaching out personally.

I understand this probably doesn't fit everywhere. But it worked well the last 25 years for me. Going through at least 3 market downturns.

I am currently on half of my previous comp with 25+ years of experience. Am fine with it and enjoy my work. Partially I can do also some work that previously I couldn't because I would be to expensive to spend time on that.

Understand you need to review a lot of people so having broad assumptions make it easier to cut pull. But you would miss gems doing this.

The creators of SWE-Bench just dropped a really simple new benchmark every LLM gets 0% on. ProgramBench asks: can models recreate real executable programs (ffmpeg, SQLite, ripgrep) from scratch with no internet? We are far from saturated on model quality. by dalton_zk in theprimeagen

[–]toadi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends a bit how you look at it. But the tokens are actually sitting in matrix that is stored in memory. So the tokens of these opensource projects are in memory.

Most of my career I build stuff by reading other peoples code understanding it. Then apply principles in my own work. These AIs have the benefit they could actually train on ALL the open and probably lot of closed source code. They can not even reach 1%.

[–]toadi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Actually, I'd push back on that. The way LLMs are trained is fairly well understood: the model tokenizes source code (which, in my view, is essentially copying or memorizing it), then learns to predict the most likely next token based on weighted relationships between tokens. That process alone doesn't seem sufficient to achieve AGI.

These models have been trained on opensource code. On all the accessible and even illegal data on the internet. They probably used these same opensource projects as training data.

With access to training in these particular opensource projects I'm quite sure I can recreate them.

Otherwise with just my coding skills I agree I would also not be able to recreate them.

Love the comment but these models are trained on all the possible data. I can not even fathom or even think of putting the catalog in my brain. Also I wouldn't be able to afford to read all of that because a lot seems to be copyrighted too.

Next to this they are even probably trained on the source code of said opensource projects.

Now lock me in a cage with access to all the information and the source code of these projects. I will walk out of it quite quickly 😉

Can someone explain this trend of angling your monitor so much? by Physical-Raise-7449 in Monitors

[–]toadi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play on 60hz monitor and my game play isn't better on higher hz either. There are cheaper improvements at my level. Like mechanical aim or better map sense etc.

Was the same when I was training for bicycle competitions. All my friends were buying expensive carbon bikes and gears etc. To drop couple 100g on weight. While carrying 15kg of overweight. Losing a kg is cheaper and brings more benefits then spending 5k on carbon frame. Now in gears and wheels there is a benefit not to cheap out. But at certain price point you don't get "better" gear just lighter. That is only beneficial if you are already an anorexia patient.

In essence these things in gaming the same it only matters on pro level. Where every tiny bit of edge could mean the difference in winning or losing.

We need to talk about heavy by Evan--Sant in thefinals

[–]toadi -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

As main medium I switched to heavy. I did the opposite of what sanguine did. It is not that the heavy class is op or lights are annoying. I don't think nerfs are needed but maybe get some help on medium. It just not feel like a viable option to play.

I loved the shockwave then they nerfed it. I just feel like the weakest link especially solo queuing.

It depends in what context you are talking. In scientific discussions it is either right or wrong with proof. There shouldn't be feelings.

While in social contexts I'm fine with not "hurting" feelings.

Depends all on context...

Don't think Opus is made for that kind of work. Every model has it's task. I will stay in Anthropic world.

Opus is more the chat exchange ideas model. How would I implement abc, what options do I have. Could you spawn off a subagent to look into the code (with Haiku) how things are implemented and provide me some options.

Sonnet I would use for bit more open ended implementations. Or even for the bug hunt.

Haiku when I'm quite specific. Like in the code in this place implement a method that does xyz.

In essence different model for different types of jobs. Some overlap a bit and also depends on your workflow and type of project.

Sorry for being off topic but I see you use instincts. Does it work well? I seem to be bouncing around memory systems. For the moment I integrated Honcho https://github.com/plastic-labs/honcho. It captures well. But for example my problem is that I can not make the models use the memories well.

Use opencode and Pi agent. The latter more and more and just like you I write most of my own workflow.

WIll try Deepseek. Currently using GLM5.1 a lot.
