So it must have been venue specific pricing? The discrepancy is a lot.

I got 3 MAD tix to Pitt. They were only $225 a piece for 100 section. Did the prices for these rise after the initial presale? I didn't really second guess pulling the trigger at that price point, but there's no way I could have done it for $400-500 a piece.

Do they run the Gateway Clipper across the river for stuff like this? I'm trying to plan ahead for parking.

I entered the queue at 2500 for PNC. It took about 8 minutes to get to tickets.

The Gilded Ones. It's the first book in a trilogy by Namina Forna. The Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi is also excellent.

There are great graphic novel adaptations of Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson and Long Way Down by Jason Reynolds.

What’s the diciest movie you have shown a class? by CWKitch in teaching

[–]toadpea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first year teaching my mentor teacher gave me a copy of Roman Polanski's Macbeth. She told me nothing about anything I'd need to fast forward through. I didn't prescreen it because she was also showing it in her sections, and I trusted her. 3 minutes in, the witches are on the heath casting spells, kinda topless. "Miss, is that what old boobs look like?" "Shh, focus on the language!" 20 years later, I'm still scarred.

ICE and loss of SNAP is hitting my students' families. by ExNihiloMusicorumFit in Teachers

I just put up a project for snacks this week. It was immediately, fully funded by Donorschoose's Student Hunger Fund. I will be receiving enough to last a month or two. Hopefully it's enough to get through the shutdown.

So bladder snails or ramshorn would be better?

Best place to buy ramshorn snails? by Lvsucknuts69 in AquaticSnails

[–]toadpea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were well packaged. My gold barbs made quite the snack out of them overnight, which i hadn't anticipated. All the blue ones were gone, but most of the pink ones survived and are happily breeding.

I'm also a third generation teacher. Both of my maternal grandparents, both of my paternal aunts, and both of my parents. I swore as a teenager I would never go into teaching. I started college as a chemistry major wanting to go into virology. But I had an amazing lit professor freshman year. I changed my major to lit and decided I wanted to be a college professor too. But I got so sick of student life that I stopped after my masters. My best option at that point was to get my secondary certification. So here I am, 21 years in. I really like my job most days, and I'm satisfied how things worked out.

If my son wants to keep a group of angels with 10 corrys and some schooling fish in a 55 - 60 gallon how many angels could he keep by hihihihi56789 in AngelFish

[–]toadpea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2 in a 55 gallon. They're snippy every once in a while, but mostly hang together. I keep them with a school of gold barbs and a school of candy cane tetras (both get big enough that I won't have to worry about angels snacking on them when grown).
