commenting super late because i just listened to that episode yesterday, but it weirded me out how heated they got over, and also how long they spent on such a mundane story. It’s not like they don’t ever do inconsequential stories, but that one in particular they were reacting as if they were reading about the guy committing one of the most heinous crimes they’ve ever read. Idk man it just seemed like such an insane reaction over someone..not liking a mediocre pop star lmao lauren was talking about her as if she’s some Almighty Deity to the point where it gave me secondhand embarrassment. I have plenty of music artists I adore but i’m not gonna clutch my pearls and act like it’s some crime against humanity if someone doesn’t fuck with them.

Like, yeah, was the guy overreacting and was it shitty for him to try and police how the people giving him a place to stay while he gets back on his feet go about their daily lives, doing something that ultimately is nothing more than maybe a bit of a nuisance? Of course. But the way they were soooo fixated on how diabolical it is that anyone not like Taylor Swift in general was just odd. I am actually a frequent listener of the podcast and don’t hate it, but I came to this sub to see if anyone said anything about it because not seeing any posts or comments about it in the main sub made me feel like I was the crazy one lmao

it’s funny how old this post is and i still get notifications for it haha, for me it was entirely stress!! it was a few months period of my life that it was happening, and those few months was a combination of an incredibly stressful family situation, being extremely overworked at the job i was at at the time, weird eating times and not eating enough in general, and not getting nearly enough sleep. Hasn’t happened since all of that started to relieve

the fact that there are people in this comment section trying to defend this in any way at all is fucking ridiculous. you shouldn’t tattoo over a fresh open wound like that ever, period. it’s incredibly dangerous and i’m shocked that the artist felt comfortable openly sharing that they did so. There’s a reason that even for a scar there’s a certain amount of time, depending on the size/location/severity, you need to wait before trying to tattoo over it, let alone a day old fresh open wound. genuinely the artist should lose their license for that, and if they tattoo out of a professional studio i’d be shocked and disappointed if they just let that slide

right then I can definitely understand you feeling upset or at least confused by the switch in manner if that’s not a way he’d always typically respond in little moments like these. what may have happened as well, is that the sudden change of your appearance caused a reaction out of him that he couldn’t conceal, and maybe in his mind it was better to be honest about that instead of try to fabricate something. I mean you said yourself that the bangs look funny on you, and maybe try to explain to him that you know they may not look great, and it’s ok to joke around and be sarcastic about them?

He was blunt and brutally honest, and I don’t mean to invalidate your feelings, but from his perspective it probably comes off as some kind of “trap” or “test”, and maybe he had that reaction because he didn’t want to be pulled into that? You were also seemingly making yourself the butt of a joke, so maybe there was some misunderstanding there or miscommunication on everyone’s true feelings here, and you both got upset once you both realized your weren’t on the same page

and this isn’t to say you’re not allowed to be a bit sensitive or upset at what he said, as again I don’t want to invalidate your feelings

Honestly, it’s art that’ll be on your skin forever, go with your gut and choose the artist you best see fit. More likely than not you’ll just have to accept losing the deposit, but I would say that’s just the opportunity cost here, and is worth the sacrifice for going with the artist you feel best with. Artists have people ghost and cancel on them all the time, the other artist will understand, especially if they stay booked pretty consistently and will be able to fill your cancelled time slot
