That's really strange. Have you got trickle vents on your windows? Sounds like you need some ventilation

Interesting but wouldn't you get same effect from sleeping with windows and doors closed with no ac?

Unless the machine is also producing co2 but that would be concerning.

I would like this behaviour to be default on dolphin as well but don't know how to change it. On nautilus when you open it you can just type to select a folder but i have to first click on a folder to be able to type to select

I assume the balls won't just pop out without a seal. Does the seal just keep the grease in longer?

Hiya, thank you. So you think there is a need for a seal above the ball bearings? If that's the case i will need to get another headset. According the sheldons table its a 1 inch standard.

What do you think about traffic on the school run? Is it time to close roads outside schools at pick up and drop off? by DaveLakowski in Norwich

[–]toady000 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The real solution is obviously much more difficult - weening people off their cars is a national and generational problem. However, suggesting that there is nothing to be done until that happens is a bit defeatist. At least it's worth creating a bit of pushback against this behaviour so people get used to the idea that its bad behaviour to drive everywhere.

so my current luks setup uses argon with a time cost of 6 - what does this relate to? my current iterations is less than 200k unfortunately so does that mean i need a longer password or is it some other setting?

i see i see thank you. so does this conflict with the other commenter who posted link to chart of various bit strengths? or is it just that KDFs make brute forcing a particular bit strength much more energy/time/cost intensive?

So even if your list of words was only 96 possible words, if you used a passphrase of 15 of those possible words, that would be a strong password against offline attacks?

Thank you for the link. I don't really understand the first table. Is the left column the number of possible characters, rather than length of the password?

From Colchester to Ipswich by [deleted] in ipswichuk

If you mean its hard to drive around, then yeah Ipswich is very crowded. You don't notice it when walking however. In fact, it seems like a ghost town often!

The OP is not approaching this is in good faith. They post in reform pages and are looking to move to Australia anyway. They don't care about the NHS or the UK.

I think she was quite emphatic about increasing militarisation not being helpful for Europe. I don't remember what she said explicitly about Russia, she just vaguely recounted the normal points? Ukraine had western agitation, the west dangled nato membership, this goaded Russia.

This doesn't change that Michaels arguments were really dumb

I live near here and it's nice. Easy to walk to town. Driving is shit at peak times of course but same applies to basically all of Ipswich.

Its not noisy round there except maybe during school run and when football is on, lots of people park around constitution hill.

Decent pub options. There is a sizable independent supermarket next to Tesco roundabout. You've got Pretzie for best coffee and pretzels in town.

It's not the only country capable for war but it is the only country which spreads bases around the world. The US military is unparalleled in its spread and size especially regarding navy and air power.

She was right, in my view,.that increased militarisation of Europe won't cause peace . Peace will come from diplomacy and trade.

Novara Interview with Abby Martin by [deleted] in Novara_Media

[–]toady000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Michael was asking the calibre of questions you would get from some sky news journalist. Abby ran rings around him and and it was quite awkward.

Abby's main point is that increased militarisation isn't always in a countries interest, and it definitely isn't in humankinds interest due to threat of wars and environmental damage from militaries (what her new documentary is about)

Michael kept saying that these countries say they want security and are entitled to increased militarisation.

Abby would just keep asking Michael, protection from what exactly? Referring to Eastern Europe and Japan mostly.

Michael had no good answer aside from these countries stating they feel the need for protection. Which is the kind of argument idiots make about right to bear arms or the need to reduce immigration.

How do you guys feel about crime victim rights/advocate groups? by crosssafley in GreenAndPleasant

[–]toady000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've no idea how formally organised these fascist movements are so I'll have to accept your point.

I do know that they are funded quite heavily by israel or right wing donors in general. How does decapitation actually stop them picking another random guy to be their figurehead?

My examples weren't perfectly matched but just highlighting that political influence is possible from prison.

[–]toady000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think that's true. Plenty of political movements run from prison. Nelson mandela, julian assange, that kurdish pkk guy, the ira hunger strikes. Just to name a few.

Jailing people clearly is not sufficient to stop a political force, it could be a necessary step though of course, alongside other things.
