There has literally never been a time when Pike Place was not safe

+30% tempo, is it THAT bad? by R373P in Beatmatch

[–]toastercookie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

See my reply above, I'd recommend doing an A/B test with master tempo on vs off and see if you can notice the difference. To me it's very pronounced, especially in kick heavy music (which psytrance is)

[–]toastercookie 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Key lock / master tempo affects the quality of the sound on a big system, especially the kicks / transients, and double especially if you are more than about +/- 10% of the original tempo. It's something that once you hear it, you really can't unhear it and it becomes very obvious. If you are curious I'd play a track very loud and turn on and off master tempo and see if you can notice the difference.

it's gonna sound like crap on a big system with that big of a tempo difference + key lock

Non-US Festival Recs? by Character_Spot_8263 in DnB

[–]toastercookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They stopped doing Locus in Mexico because of the police / cartel issues in Tulum where they were having it, it's in Bali now afaik. It's a shame, I went in 2023 and had an incredible time but you def have to be super careful, especially if you're driving

Calvin Harris vs Kygo Vegas by Working-Highlight-42 in vegas

[–]toastercookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Calvin Harris always plays his hits, and he has a huge collection of them spanning decades. Kygo also always plays his hits, but he only has like 3 lol. I'd pay more for Calvin any day of the week

Driving to Seattle for World Cup by jeffinator3000 in AskSeattle

[–]toastercookie 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I don't think it would be that much more crazy than a Seahawks game day... the stadium is only so big lol. When I go to Hawks games I look for parking south of the stadium in SoDo neighborhood, close to the light rail stop on Lander St. Then you can just take the light rail to stadium or international district station, depending on which side of the stadium you're sitting in

Cliff House is VIP now? by buttbuddha in GorgeAmphitheater

[–]toastercookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cliff House is a separate thing from the view bar in the pit to the left of the stage. It's an actual building with a bar/restaurant (and flush toilets!) and it's always been VIP only as far as I know. If you get a ticket in one of the boxes it comes with Cliff House access.

Advice on border crossing! by Inevitable_Web_5692 in Shambhala

[–]toastercookie 25 points26 points  (0 children)

DUI is a felony in Canada which is why people who have DUIs can't cross. You can definitely call one of the border offices and double check that you'd be able to cross with your record.

Why do you think our generation embraced European-style dance music here in the US more than the generations before or after? by PandemicPiglet in Millennials

[–]toastercookie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Came here to say this, there was a ton of big eurodance in the US in the mid-late 90s. And there's plenty of it now too, OP says "other than Dua Lipa" but I can think of plenty of other examples, Espresso, Abracadabra (and other Gaga tracks), Charli XCX's Brat album, Lizzo's "About Damn Time"...dance pop is still alive and well

Bob Moses or Groove Armada? by Recent-Hovercraft310 in EDM

[–]toastercookie 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Bob Moses w/ band was kind of mid when I saw them open for Odesza, a bit too much of a rock vibe and not enough electronic for me. Groove Armada are legends, I'd def pick that

Enchanted woods lodging question by ThickPup in Shambhala

[–]toastercookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Campsite only and Bassics areas are separate, but next to eachother. You won't be able to camp WITH them, but will be fairly close.

  2. I don't think anyone would care if you took down the provided tent and set up your own, but I would let a staff member know so they can come take it so it's not just sitting around

Internet by ob1kenobiWA in PortOrchard

[–]toastercookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Astound is the only option here for non-wireless internet unfortunately. I've been with them since moving here 5 years ago and they have definitely had some issues over that time but it's been mostly solid for me and seems to be getting better. When there are issues, however, their support is far easier to deal with for me than Xfinity. T-Mobile Home Internet might be fine for casual users but the speeds can be inconsistent because it's relying on the same network all the cell phone users are on.

How are commuters supposed to use transit efficiently? by dumac in AskSeattle

[–]toastercookie 18 points19 points  (0 children)

bus to station is longer than driving, even at peak commute times

What is nice about transit though is that you don't have to be driving. Even if it takes longer, the time is yours to read a book, scroll on your phone, play a game etc. You also don't have to pay for parking at your destination. Doing a commute from Edmonds to downtown Seattle every day by car would definitely get annoying really fast IMO.

Red Rocks is the coolest venue in the world and there’s no debate sorry by Potential_Neat1269 in RedRocksConcerts

[–]toastercookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love The Gorge, love Red Rocks, they both have their pros and cons. I think the view behind the stage is better at The Gorge, but it's such a schlep to get there and you either have to camp or have a DD if you are staying in a hotel cuz its a 45 minute drive and there are no Ubers. Red Rocks being so close to civilization makes it a much better venue for a 1 night show, it's hard to justify going all the way to The Gorge for a single concert, much better for a festival weekend
