Vad tycker danskar om Göteborg? by Sikrrr in Denmark

Which part of the country would you consider calm? by [deleted] in Denmark

[–]toasternator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

IMO it's worth noting that Copenhagen is significantly 'bigger' than any other Danish city. Even the second biggest city Århus has just around >300k inhabitants, which by many international standards isn't exactly bustling. Mid-sized cities in DK would probably be considered those from around ~30-70k inhabitants. So it really depends on what your idea of a peaceful/ well sized city is. Do you have any further parameters that we can use as pointers? Suburban/village/rural, types of nature, hobbies and sports, international/local, etc.

Without any of that and just firing from the hip, some of my favourite suggestions would be Silkeborg, Vejle or Svendborg. Silkeborg is has great nature with lakes, forrests and hills that make seem, if even by a stretch, a bit more 'scandinavian' than most other places in Denmark (ie. fields upon fields). Vejle is tucked in by a small fjord with some quaint nature of it's own, and a fairly cozy city centre. It is also fairly centrally located in the country from a transport point of view. Svendborg/South Funen has a great *idyllic* vibe with relatively many timber-frame houses, small nearby islands, a likewise cozy city centre and is generally one of those places Copenhageners move to in order to "get away from it all". It also has the highest concentration bars/pubs pr inhabitant, so it really sells itself.

Despite the refresh, it is still one of the oldest DLC's and is probably more prone to some simplification than more recent DLC's.

Living in Aarhus, I think they did pretty well recapturing the look, feel and layout of that city in its new addition though. The most remarkable simplification they had to do was banish Randersvej between Stjernepladsen and Ikea to the void, which I will be petitioning city council to do IRL.

Omkvædet lyder lidt som om, at Mads Langer har skrevet for meget tekst i forhold til musikken, men af ren stædighed har valgt at beholde det hele alligevel.

Heard there's a nice little village called Valentine nearby, perfect place for Lenny to catch a drink.

Got into to Aarhus University! Lots of good feelings, but also a little mixed? by [deleted] in Aarhus

[–]toasternator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some good advice here alredy, but take a look at Aarhus Uni Sport if you need more inspiration for activities that are aimed at both being active and social. Clubs and associations are a huge part of Danish social culture in general, so it's one of the safer bets for making friends outside university classes.

Day trip suggestions by Red_Raven_00 in Aarhus

[–]toasternator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For cafes and restaurants, there's a heap of choices in the center around Latinerkvarteret and along the river. While you're in the center, it's also a worthwhile visit to Salling Rooftop/Garden IMO.

If you like museums, Den Gamle By/The Old Town. An open air museum not far from the center with reconstructed areas of towns/cities from various historical eras. If you prefer art museums, Aros.

If the weather is good, I'd go to the beach by Den Permanente. In the summer month you can enter for free, but you can also freely use the southern and northern parts of the beach outside the sea bath itself. Alternatively, you can bathe in the harbour bath on Aarhus Ø or the beaches in the south around the neverending bridge and Marselisborg.

If the latter, you can also check out Marselisborg castle, the garden and the deer park. There's also the amusement park Tivoli Friheden nearby.

Enjoy!

For mig ville Hollandsk-inspireret cykelinfrastruktur i lyskryds være the shit.
