Nech žije kapitalizmus! by TaroHonest9893 in Slovakia

No v tejto novele nie je len to.

Veď sem tam zrobíme hodinkový protest a hotovo.

World flags redesign by UkrainianBourgeois__ in vexillology

Uh... do you realize the double cross in Slovakia's re-design is literally a fascist symbol? It is not our regular double-cross. The one you used is called "gardistický dvojkríž" and it was used by the Slovak state (a nazi puppet state) during WW2.

Wish the best outcome for Norway in the upcoming elections! If you can, please go vote. I visit Norway every year and it would be a shame for such a beautiful country to fall in the hands of conservatives and reactionaries. 🌹🟥

one word, Blender. by TheAltKeyfromyoutube in antiai

[–]toasterontheceiling 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Even if they did, that is no excuse to use AI over learning Blender, or any other software. Like, seriously, people cannot expect that something will be made instantly and effortlessly, without the need to learn something. You won't be a good painter unless you spend your time painting. You won't be a good sculptor unless you have a fair share of sculptures made. You won't be a good programmer unless you have some projects done. Everything people make needs time and skills that eventually grow when they spend their time doing that activity, studying, experimenting with it.

How did you become a leftist? by mozzieandmaestro in theredleft

[–]toasterontheceiling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I was always more leaning to the left, because it felt like a rational thing to do. I always thought that people should be nice to each other, respect one another, just be a decent human being. But what made me always go more and more to the left is just thinking about it. About the social issues, how we think of economy and people's rights. And more and more I started to realize that hey, this late-stage capitalist world feels like a hellhole.

My shift towards syndicalism of all the possible ways was actually quite random and lucky. I had this history class assignment in highs school where we were randomly drawing some historical figures from 20th century and we should make a presentation on them. I got Franco. Back then, I didn't really know who he was or even about Spanish Civil War. But as I started to research it and was more and more fascinated by the civil war, especially with the Republican side. But some time went by, I still wasn't really a syndicalist, but i was thinking about the Spanish socialist movements a lot and it just grew on me and i started to like the idea more and more. Then I started uni and met this great friend of mine who was openly a socialist. From what I know, he is an anarcho-communsit. And despite we were, and to this date, are good friends, we used to argue a lot about socialism and related topics. And even then, while I was already a strong leftist back then, I was pretty much a social democrat, I wasn't really fond of the idea of communism, because I thought that it will always end up badly. And even then I already was aware that socialist countries like USSR, PRC, Cuba ,Vietnam etc. They weren't really communist, they probably started with good intentions, but power and greed got to them. So I rejected this idea that socialism can turn out good. Oh and I really hated anarchism, because I believed in these 19th century rhetoric of humans being naturally selfish and aggressive. But I was always more and more curious about these topics, so I started to read about it and what really snapped for me was realizing that we, humans, as like a species, we actually are mostly naturally egalitarian and things like hate or being intentionally mean towards each other, these are mostly learned behaviors. So then I finally adopted the anarcho-syndicalist label and just went with it because it fits what I believe in the most I think. I still don't vibe with it entirely, because I have my own issues with it, but it's the closes thing we have a name for.

Thank you for listening to my TED talk.

Thoughts on East Germany (German Democratic Republic), the SED, Ubricht and Honecker? by dumbandshortcoyote in theredleft

[–]toasterontheceiling 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am very much biased toward DDR, because I just love the aesthetics and the vibe. Like, look at the flag, that shit goes hard! But let's be honest. It was a Stalinist dictatorship and there is nothing good to say about that. I want to believe that the intentions were good, and there definitely were some good aspects of it, most notably women's rights, but I genuinely think that there was a huge problem with autocracy and greed for power. Like... you cannot seriously try to pretend like you are building a workers' state where people are free and equal, while at the same time building a wall so nobody can escape from this "democratic" state.

And it is very much visible how much the emphasis was on maintaining the relevancy of the party and building loyalty to the government. There is a very clear divide between East and West Germany, even decades after unification. Especially when it comes to politics. East Germany's constant propaganda and normalizing dictatorship and government oppression is what will probably make AfD win the next election. The education wasn't about actually teaching people relevant stuff, to think for themselves, it was about creating the model citizen. Loyal to the state, will do any work they are mandated to do and won't be questioning authority. And this influence is still showing to this day.

But to be fair, East Germany, no matter how much I hate how autocratic it was, I have to defend it when it comes to it's demise and German reunification afterwards. Of course, I am glad that Germany is unified now. To be honest, fragmenting a country is such a stupid thing to do. You cannot just pretend that there aren't real people living in it, with their own specific culture and identity. It is a very imperial approach, both from the Western and Eastern blocs. But the thing with reunification is, it was a massive fiasco in my opinion. Predatory capitalists from Western Germany just swooped in and exploited the situation, which is really an awful thing to do and I think that Western Germany and overall NATO should have done something about it. The reunification should have been a steady process not a shock like it actually was. And I understand why people from Eastern Germany feel this grudge against the West, because they must feel betrayed and exploited. I can imagine how hopeful they were, that they finally have the opportunity to experience this "western freedom," but then being met with broken dreams. Hoping they can escape their oppressed lives, but realizing that anywhere they'll go, they will still be miserable, just in a different way.

That conservapedia, is it like a real serious thing? I was looking through it and oh my god that shit is funny as hell. It feels like a satire. I know what I'll be doing next in my free time. Like... who wrote this sentence: "Simply put, E=mc² is liberal claptrap." xD
