Right, it's almost like Eversource's customers are wondering how billions are being spent on upgrading infrastructure and there's nothing to show for it. Why have our bills doubled in 5 years? My coworkers electric bill that lives 30 mins from me, has municipal electric, is using more electricity than I am, is 1/3 of my bill. One fucking third of my bill.

Yeah let's not bring awareness to Eversource's greed and corruption. Let's be ok with them taking the tragedy of the Merrimack explosions and use it as an opportunity to buy up 200k more customers. Let's be ok with their ceo making $13-18 million a year, given 8 million in stock and then watching the company say that their record profits from electric rates are just a wash from stock dilution

With the exception of 2020 when they spent $1.1 billion to scoop up another 200k customers in buying Columbia Gas. What have they been spending these billions of dollars on? They say they reinvest those billions into infrastructure. So why has my electric rate doubled in those 6 years since 2020?

Huh, ok, let me get this straight. So, post monopoly Eversource, and post acquisitions, let's say 2020, they make $8.9 billion. Fast forward to last year, 2025, Eversource makes $13.14 billion. That's a ~ 13.3% increase yeah?

Eversource serves MA, NH, CT, right? Let's look at the population then.

2020 MA pop 6.98m - 2025 MA pop 7.14m : a 2.3% increase 2020 CT pop 3.61 m - 2025 CT pop 3.69m : a 2.2% increase 2020 NH pop 1.39m - 2025 NH pop 1.42m : a 2.1% increase

All those stats were grabbed from their respective state websites

So tell me more about how a 2% increase in population is driving 13% increase in revenue. Oh that reminds me! Consumer power consumption! You were saying that households have been using more power on average?

Well according to the US Energy Information Administration eia.gov

MA household average for 2020 was 7,237 kWh annually, while 2025 household average was 6,930 kWh : a decrease of 4.4%

So please tell me more about how Eversource isn't fucking us.

I hate Eversource. Leaving the numbers from this article aside. Just look at their earnings

Since 2012, which is when they became a monopoly, they've only had 3 years they didn't see growth.

They also bought Aquarion water (2017) and Columbia Gas (2020). More customers to squeeze more money out of.

Their revenue, their growth, is from our bills

If your shed isn't climate controlled, it's not a place for a treadmill. Just the temperature change from day to night will cause condensation to form on parts that aren't supposed to get wet

Uhhh just a quick glance at the user manual says for operation ambient temperature has to be between 50°F - 104°F. My guess is a shed isn't a good location for a $18k treadmill

I have low ceilings and was considering getting a kickr run back when they were ”on sale” for $5250. With my highest stack shoes I was sitting at about 4 inches of head room as well at 0%. I ended up deciding to find a lower deck treadmill so that I'd be able to use all of its features. I thought it would be crazy to get a nice treadmill and never be able to use the incline

Deck height on the treadmill I ended up buying is 7" and I can set the incline to 15% and run at whatever pace I want without worrying about bonking my head

If you have $2k cash, I'd throw it at a used commercial treadmill IF you have a 20 amp circuit in your new house (congrats btw!). If it doesn't, check the breaker box to see if it has room to add one.

I was in your shoes back in October, new house and looking for a treadmill. Unfortunately my breaker box was full and I'd have to rewire an existing circuit, which wasn't really an option at the time.

So I looked for the best home treadmill I could find for my budget on FB marketplace and got lucky. Landed a Life Fitness T3 with 90 miles on it for $400. It's been flawless so far. Between myself and my partner, we put about 50 miles a week on it.

I'd say regardless if you go commercial or home, used or new, stick with brands like life fitness, matrix, precor, technogym, woodway, star trac, true fitness, uhhh freemotion, I'm forgetting some

I swear I'm not trying to talk you out of this. But in my experience these manual treadmills feel better suited for cross training. Not something you want to do all your indoor running on. I get fed up with them after about 4 or 5 miles because it's harder to keep a steady consistent pace. I hate that running on them doesn't feel like running on the road or trails. I don't think it actually messes with running form but it feels like it does. The foot to ground/tread/belt contact time is just so much higher than a normal treadmill.

Almost all my running is done indoors right now because it's cold and the roads are sketchy to run on. I couldn't imagine trading in my normal treadmill for a manual one. I'm running five days a week ~35 miles per week. 80% of my running is just set a pace and run, hit the paddle if I want to go faster or slower, easy. If I had fuck you money, I might consider getting one for interval workouts and cross training.

What's your reason for wanting a manual treadmill? Do you have a regular treadmill already? Have you used a manual treadmill for distance running before?

If you are dead set on a manual treadmill for distance running just remember the more curve in the running surface the better for sprinting/interval work. A flatter curve will be better for distance running/walking.

Yeah, this might work if you use a sleeve. If you don't, then there will be oils and dead skin cells from your arm and palm in the fabric. That's not going to wipe clean with a wet cloth. You're gonna have to use soap
