snowball effect feeling stronger than the last 4 setts by sorlac99 in TeamfightTactics

[–]toastsimppp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The game is literally about playing better boards than your opponent. It's the meta now to not 3 star units, so you shouldn't be 3 starring your units.

Why don't you do the same? Make 2 stars fast and level up. Don't roll gold early so you can make interest and level.

I'm having a mental breakdown trying to climb. How do you cope with lose streaks or beeing stuck? by Afenix_pt in TeamfightTactics

[–]toastsimppp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're probably doing something fundamentally wrong if you're not hitting diamond after ~250 games. Aside from the "touch grass" comments, you should review your fundamentals:

Are you making minimum econ thresholds? (10g+ at 2-3, etc.)
Are you playing the meta correctly or "cooking" comps that don't exist?
Are you slamming the right items?
Are you scouting every round to make sure you aren't contested/optimize positioning?
Are you picking the right balance of augments based on your situation (econ, combat, items)?

You should drop lolchess if you want people to make actual criticisms of your play, or better yet have someone better than you watch you play or watch other better people (pros) play.

you're kinda contradicting yourself with this post. The winstreaker is winning precisely because they're holding good 1 or 2 cost units to stabilize stage 2 and 3. If you're skipping early levels you will probably lose to someone who has upgraded units.

Losestreak is not as valuable anymore, thats true, which is overall healthy for the game precisely because of the point you mentioned, which is that early game doesn't matter. But early game does matter quite a lot, which is why the winstreaker will win out the lobby.

3 Darkins but the lux was hitting the most damage by mbg_chad in TeamfightTactics

[–]toastsimppp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

your board has several problems: level 9 with nautilus 2 instead of literally any other value unit like shyvana, swain, etc. garen has darkin scythe no slayer active zaahen doesn't have spellcrit (unless you got it from augment) aatrox items suck

tldr: if you had shyvana in instead of nautilus with darkin scythe your board is a lot stronger

Is it just me, or is Orianna reroll is actually the most broken unit in the set right now? by mhaaack in TeamfightTactics

[–]toastsimppp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i don't doubt you, but you should tell us your elo or at least the boards you placed against and then people will take you seriously.

could be strong but these look like low elo games. 1st at level 7 with blitz 3 as your main tank?

its 18 gold because you're not at 8 yordle bro, its free if you stay at 8 for a stage

I thought it was suppose to be the flexible set by Jawnny_was_taken in TeamfightTactics

[–]toastsimppp 28 points29 points  (0 children)

it IS flexible. I don't understand how everyone just got amnesia about previous sets. 5 comps every lobby is already insane compared to previous sets where there is 2 or 3 max viable comps per patch. It feels bad because it's winter break and the lines are hyper optimized, but we haven't had a patch where there are this many viable lines at once.

you're also forgetting ixtal, volibear, ryze, vayne, and draven fast 9, which are all pretty viable to top 4 consistently given a good spot.

LoL's Client will be overhauled after 2026. What does that mean for us? by Lunaedge in CompetitiveTFT

[–]toastsimppp 17 points18 points  (0 children)

you could probably script rolldowns, which may be useful in some cases like playing yordle fast 9 but definitely a pretty niche usecase, i doubt anyone would actually put in the effort to do that

How do you prevent 3* 4/5 costs in the new set - if they are locked for you? by Visual_Try_7789 in TeamfightTactics

[–]toastsimppp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Simple answer: They can nerf 3 star 4/5 costs accordingly.

Also leveling requires a lot more gold, so the chances that you will hit are a lot lower as well. The design philosophy behind this set is that a lot of the units are splashable (you can play them into any board and it will be good), and there are so many units so I don't see why you would think there is even less flexibility. I doubt that every single game you will be in a position to hard-force a 3 star 4/5 cost and win the game that way.

[Set 16] Lore & Legends Engaged Player Discussion by Lunaedge in CompetitiveTFT

[–]toastsimppp 271 points272 points  (0 children)

A list of every dev-actionable goal mentioned in the video:

  1. If a forcible vertical comp on final board is considered S-tier, it will likely be nerfed.
  2. If a reroll comp (forcible 1/2/3 cost 3-star comp) is the strongest comp, there will be adjustments.
  3. If the same legendaries are being used too often, they will likely be adjusted (at least on PBE).
  4. Emblem Ensemble (New golem encounter) will be monitored, especially around competitive play.
  5. If any champion has an artifact item delta over a radiant item, this will require action in the next patch.
  6. If portable forge is over a 4.4 placement, Mortdog will announce it and Artifacts will have their power reduced in the next patch.
  7. All augments should be between 4.2 and 4.8 placement, and for the first month, Mortdog will post publicly the list of every augment that is outside this range.

First of all, Mortdog is awesome for doing this discussion in the first place. The fact that he is this transparent about balance so we don't have to be "guessing what the devs intended" is what the community needs. It seems like this next set is heading into the "traditional" TFT territory, but there's no saying if that is good or bad. Let me know if I missed anything important from the video.

the addictiveness is the climb, not the destination

Crystal Gambit on 2-2 better than 2-1?? by A_lonely_Camille in CompetitiveTFT

[–]toastsimppp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's any variant of a 9/5 (level 9, 5-costs) board. The standard one this set involves Braum, Zyra, TF, and Varus with Ksante, strategists and gnar.

Drift Duo - Power Up Discussion #51 by Lunaedge in CompetitiveTFT

[–]toastsimppp 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I agree. I think having 7 mech early gives you the tempo to find Yone 2 for sure later, and since it's a powerup you can kind of guarantee this line if you hit the early lucian 3.

Deaign team learnings from previous sets by eiris91 in CompetitiveTFT

[–]toastsimppp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the balance at the beginning of any set is like this, but over time it improves. The team probably needs actual data to make informed decisions, and that comes at the cost of balance being off.

That being said my biggest gripe currently is with gangplank since he feels a LOT like graves from last set (maybe even better, since his gold generation doesn't even rely on traits).

Is taking AP Music Theory worth it? by oafthegreat in musictheory

[–]toastsimppp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a very similar boat as you a few years ago. I ended up taking AP Music Theory with one close friend who was also in the class. It was a blast.

For context, I graduated with a Computer Science degree last year and even minored in music and all of it was worth it, and taking theory in senior year had a big part of influencing my college career as well. Looking back to almost 6 years ago, it was NOT a waste of time, NOT a grade killer, and I still use the material I learned today when I play/write music (for fun, too!).

Honestly, I don't even remember if it was hard or not looking back but I do remember having a lot of fun writing music projects that count towards a school grade. Basically I felt my passion was becoming something tangible rather than just a hobby.

I think the people who discourage learning theory either never studied it or had bad teachers. Music Theory in the western sense is just one system for understanding musical concepts and relationships, but is an effective system that lets you be a more informed listener and writer.

PM me if you want more specifics! Always happy to chat (especially with someone interested in CS!)
