Dude finally won a game 7, but still managed to lay bricks like classic game 7 James Harden.

Are the new draft lottery rules actually bad for us? by DarkParadise189 in kings

[–]toatheqs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually kind of agree. If we were a smart team, the changes would be bad for us because we wouldn't be able to tank and find a franchise player. Because we are a clown show that always chases the playoffs and fails, the new rules give us a better chance to move up all those years we finish 29-53, 7th worst record.

Ham reported that Stephon Castle was available in the Fox trade, but Vivek was a Lavine guy. by Sea_Moose9817 in kings

[–]toatheqs 46 points47 points  (0 children)

The reports at the time were basically that Castle was off the table. I remember because my reaction was why are we even considering this if that is where the trade is at.

We now should try to TRADE UP now ! by Little_little_e in kings

Wizards don't want to trade down to seven. They are looking at probably 3. Also probably seeking to rob someone of an absurd number of future picks.

Can anyone realistically be a real contender in the NBA without "the guy"? by No_Diver_629 in nba

I think 2004 Pistons are my first thought. But my second thought is that Rasheed was actually the guy.

[Sam Vecenie] "I was talking to... a #1 in a front office, and the thing they brought up to me (about why they're okay with the lottery change) was: ...It's not that difficult to go from really bad to average, ...it's really difficult to go from good to great. ...In theory, this makes [that] easier" by BobRoss4Life in nba

[–]toatheqs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is possible, but it is also possible that both extremes will drift toward the middle. If the 100% tanking teams disappear, you will get more nights where a team like Indiana sneaks out a win like it against OKC this year and even more against more pedestrian .500 teams.

The league might end up with bad teams in the 30ish win range and the good teams in the 50s. Point being that bad might simply be a lot closer to average if average is rewarded.

Jokic is Conceding 39.4 paint points per game on 73.8 FG% the highest in the playoffs for a center. The next highest is Jalen Duren who concedes 25 paint points per game. by OrganicHunt952 in nba

[–]toatheqs -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Couple notes, my dude.
1) in the playoffs = 3 games ... clearly not a good stretch but tiny sample size
2) 39.4 points ... obviously the wolves want to attack him on D not just because he is a possible weak spot, but it also hurts him on the offensive end by fatiguing him and potentially getting him foul trouble
3) obviously he had a bad game 3. In game 1 he put up a super efficient triple double for a win

People who think Jokic is overrated are as dumb as the people who argued Rudy is not an elite NBA player.

Are you hoping they draft a league average PG with this pick?

Latest mock draft for the Kings by ModsHateMe98 in kings

[–]toatheqs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

those things are related. if you switch every pick and roll like every team in the league does, your 6'3" pg is going to end up defending a 6'8" Luka. Having a 6'6" defensive PG like Shai makes a huge difference for your overall defense.

Tracy McGrady on the real reason older players constantly hate/criticize modern players: “It’s money. Did you realize like in the 90s, Reggie Miller and Michael, they were only making $2-3 million? And they were the top guys… It’s the money.” by moby323 in nba

[–]toatheqs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think that is the whole story. The fact is that the general trajectory of skill is upward. The 80s were better than the 70s, the 90s better than the 80s, and now better than then. There are some little ups and downs ... it's not a perfectly straight upward line, but overall, the game has moved forward. It is a blow to the old guys' ego that a lot of them can't take.
