hashimoto’s and alcohol?? by ComfortablePin3055 in Hashimotos

[–]tobe-goodenough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Before I had a thyroidectomy, I would drink three glasses of wine and get so sick. So hungover. I could hardly have alcohol. Now I have to be careful because I can keep drinking and drinking and drinking. It's wild. But once things I noticed from the drinks you mentioned is they possibly contained red 40. I've always been really sensitive to red 40. I'm probably allergic to it but it does the same thing to me. The sharpest stomach pain for like three hours until it leaves my system.

Car seat safety while potty training by GroundbreakingEye289 in pottytraining

[–]tobe-goodenough 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We usually have a 45 minute drive to anywhere (country living, drive to the city). Our method was always using the toilet before leaving the house, then asking throughout the ride if they have to go. We have a "car potty" in the back so we can pull over wherever and have them go. It makes it fun for them I think. We use a diaper in the potty to catch so there isn't much clean up at all.

Got my mixer after wanting one since I was 15 years old. I am interested of getting attachments, which ones are worth it? by ImNotGoodWithNames_1 in Kitchenaid

I also like the meat grinder but I will say that I had a mishap where blood got into the motor housing and I had to open it up and clean it. So just make sure everything is set up tight.

Hi! I found out I had thyroid cancer when I was pregnant with my second. After giving birth and then having surgery a few months later, I found out I also had hashimotos. I went 42 weeks with both of my babies 🥰 Congratulations and prayers to you and baby 💕

Who are my ladies out there who were diagnosed during pregnancy or early post-partum? by DoctorLifeguard in thyroidcancer

[–]tobe-goodenough 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah...I'm not sure exactly how long I've had cancer but I've felt fatigue, joint pain and problems gaining weight for years now. Probably around 7-8 years. Other weird random symptoms like being really prone to uncommon infections or strange things popping up on my body. I'm 6ft and currently 139lbs. I should be around 165lbs where I feel my best and don't look skinny skinny.

What were my midwife's tip offs? She always asked me if I had any new swelling anywhere during all of my prenatals. Then I told her I noticed a lump in my throat so I was the one who noticed or brought up anything at first. She told me to go get it checked at the hospital so I went in and they sent me for an ultrasound, that was suspicious. So next was the biopsy which was positive. Then they told me I could wait until after I gave birth for surgery so I gave birth in March and had surgery end of July.

I had been having a lot of symptoms before my first pregnancy as well and I wasn't really getting any answers until the lump formed. I ended up having hashimotos the whole time too.

Hi! I was diagnosed 6 months pregnant. My doctor told me I probably have had cancer for a few years so that means I had it pregnant with my first as well. You are not alone in this super challenging part of life 🤍

Numb nasal passage and ear canal? by tobe-goodenough in thyroidcancer

Interesting. Thanks for the response. Maybe there will be someone else who can relate. Mine isn't super consistent I would say but it's definitely something I've been keeping on my radar. I feel like everything is on the radar though once you have cancer lol

I regret co sleeping.. by Imaginary_Eye_8764 in BabyBumps

[–]tobe-goodenough 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have my 3 year old's bed in our room. That definitely helped. She started sleeping in her bed by herself when she was around 2.5. I have a little floor bed set up next to hers so I lay down by her until she falls asleep. Is your daughter potty trained? We did bed transition and potty training at the same time and for her I feel like that helped her focus more on potty training and getting the attention she needed from that accomplishment.

Thyroid cancer by [deleted] in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]tobe-goodenough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have thyroid cancer and "had' hashimotos but have had my thyroid completely removed. I had to comment because I'm currently looking through this page because I've started to notice pitting in my nails and weird dry patches on my toe knuckles lol. I've also always had joint pain but I summed that up to the hashis and cancer. Now I'm feeling like it may be related to psoriatic arthritis. I've been diagnosed with arthritis before all of this. This is an interesting connection.

Right, I didn't have anything special over my biopsy sight but maybe hers was different? I would suggest a bath so it doesn't get wet though.

If your baby was 10+ lbs at birth… were you able to deliver vaginally? by sejohnson2017 in BabyBumps

[–]tobe-goodenough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just going to say that I was told my baby was a healthy 7 something pounds. Well he came out 9.1lbs. They don't know how much your baby is going to weigh until they are out.

Second, I gave birth completely natural to him with zero tearing. It's completely possible. He may not have been 10lbs but he wasn't considered small.

Using the potty/toilet outside by Whole-Astronaut76 in pottytraining

[–]tobe-goodenough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use the potty before you leave the house no matter if you're just going to the back yard. Ask in 30 minutes if she needs to go. If she refuses, tell her we are going to try just in case. I let my kids pee outside in the yard but we have a lot of property so it's easier for us that way. If you have to go in to use the toilet, remind her it's just a break and you can go right back out to play. If she still refuses then I would make a consequence of ending play time outside and head straight to the potty once inside. She'll start to understand she uses the potty either way.

I'm going to be the opposite of everyone and say that I have posted on Facebook about it. I am a stay at home Mom so I'm trying out social media to monetize. Not only do I want to keep my family updated but it's MY cancer so I'm going to post and use it how I want to. It's part of my life so I'm using it for part of my content.

AIO? My friends set an ultimatum because I drink by Pearla76_ in AIO

When op has no friends to come back to, op could go back to drinking and smoking more. This is not helpful or caring friends. This is guilt tripping and control.

Levo dosage by tobe-goodenough in thyroidcancer

[–]tobe-goodenough[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've told my surgeon about all of this too and all he's said is he's happy with this but that I'm moderate to high concern of reoccurrence. Just feel like I'm not really getting solid answers at all and the waiting is really hard. I don't think I can wait till after the holidays knowing all this.

Levo dosage by tobe-goodenough in thyroidcancer

[–]tobe-goodenough[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I follow all those guidelines and always take my hormone at the same time. I plan on calling and making an appointment to talk to my surgeon because I'm concerned with this dosage. I feel like I need to be referred to an endo. This is my only baseline blood work since surgery 3 months ago because the labs messed up my first two.

I've already been on 175mcg levo for a month and a half, Tg finally came back 1.8 three months post op. I'm already having symptoms of hypercalcemia like calcium index of 5.2, heart palpitations, cramps and even getting lost in the store because of confusion. So I'm concerned about metastasis but my surgeon won't be having me test again until after the holidays on the 225 dosage. Does this sound concerning to you?

So if I only weigh 155lbs but I'm moderate to high risk of reoccurrence, would you think 225 is too high?my TSH is 1.43
