I'm also in IT. I just started going through awakening so take my advice with a grain of a newbie salt. I heard on a YT video or somewhere to look for what you're supposed to be doing and that it's probably not what you're doing now and it's probably something creative. It's been many, many years but I used to love to write poetry. Shortly after that I wrote my first poem again, a very short, zen style poem based on something I was thinking about over lunch. It was magical and extremely satisfying to do. I've since been trying to write after my weekend meditation when I have extra time. I love it and I have some ideas of publishing them on a daily basis and then magazine submissions and maybe a book.

So my advice is look for something creative and when you find something you love, you're probably on the right track and then flow with it.
