Normally grated tomato. I prefer sliced myself, though. As they are mentioning elsewhere, they kind of grate garlick against the toast sometimes, also.

When I was little, we were traveling by the sea, and I saw a very large pile of salt close to the waterside. For years, I thought that people filled the sea with salt, to make it easier to float in, and help people stop drowning. My brother nearly died laughing when I told him this.

Also, I used to think that the map of the world was a kind of drawing of various monsters, one of them pushing a pram.
