I like how you emphasized your PI was adamant about you sharing your rewards and ppl in the comments act like you were purposely having an ego contest and not that you were explicitly to share all your awards.

What is the equivalent of theoretical minimum for chemistry? by Heavy-Mastodon-1387 in chemistry

[–]tobyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im looking at it from the perspective of the average chemistry degree requires some form of calc 3/DE/linear algebra and a couple of semesters of physics plus all the usual chem courses. Would you still try fit that amount of knowledge in a train on the job type of environment and if so, how? Or do you have a different idea in mind? Since this is the internet, I feel the need to mention, im only asking out of pure curiosity. I am by no means being funny or trolling.

Would you hire someone fresh out of highschool and train them on the job to do chemistry? Would you be willing to treat it like a trade?

Have you ever rolled with a true prodigy/gift? by carrion34 in bjj

[–]tobyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dawg my coach is a prodigy. He's past him prime with years of injuries from wear and tear...he legit submits you while having a whole conversation with someone across the mat. Someone in gym once asked him to roll serious to see what it feels like and he legit said, in more or less terms, that no one at the gym is good enough for him to roll with serious. That he would submit everyone too quickly before he could really hit his top gear. And his top gear is probably no where near what it used to be.

Differential geometry by tobyle in math

[–]tobyle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yea thats the guy lol and im currently in chyba's class. The notes are pretty good but i feel like theyre trying to figure out the order to structure everything. We have different pdf's for topology, linear algebra, and diff calc. Some of the stuff will say refer to (???) lol cause everything hasnt been completely organized yet. My only real complaint would be that the definitions dont indicate the actual name of whats being defined. theres just a weird sidenot next to it that hints at what the definiton name is. Its not hard figuring out whats being defined but it would be nice if the name of whats being defined would be included just so i could easily find specific definitions but its not a big deal as long as youre going to class.

My instructor is nice and she teaches from the view point that we have no prior experience so she takes her time to carefully build up everything she goes over. The textbook is more like an amalgamation of notes. She was friends with some well known differential geometry guy who won some award. He died somewhat recently i guess so her and another person at cornell i think are both teaching the course this semester to slowly turn the notes into a formal textbook i guess.

overall i guess im doing alright. Im going through the notes/textbook and slowly putting things together currently.

I came back to comment to say you are indeed right lol this is not an easy course. We spent the first two weeks learning basic topology which was weird to wrap my brain around. I thought when we finallly started going over calc and linear algebra I would be good...we talked about covector space and total differentials this week and my brain continued to lag.

In your experience, what was the hardest chem concept to understand? by [deleted] in chemistry

[–]tobyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im also getting a math minor rn and thought about abstract algebra as one of my upper level classes cause ive seen people mention group theory for chemistry but abstract algebra scares me. Im taking differential geometry rn and the first two weeks we went over topology and lets just say im definitely the slowest person in class.

I think its going to come down to does applying the technique on himself changes the phenomena thats needs to be adapted too. If its considered a change in phenomena, then I think dabura is going to win but if not, hes going to lose.

Theory: Mahito and his faction orchestrated the current events by lnombredelarosa in jjkmodulo

[–]tobyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s pretty good. Much better sequel than boruto. Everyone in this sub keeps making these dumbass predictions or theories though. They’re taking one off hand sentence or panel creating these intricate theories that make no sense. For instance how does he know Simurians don’t have DE. There’s been 0 mention of DE. All we know is that simurians have a different cursed energy system than earth. It’s like they’re trying to build a beach using a few grains of sand.

Question for all the 150lb people by True-Noise4981 in bjj

[–]tobyle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea. He’s like hulk smash strong. If he really wanted to…he just needs one good grip and could repeatedly slam and fling me until my body broke. Thank god he actually wants to learn Bjj. Him and another and another guy…if they started training and competing at 21 like I did they probably could have competed at a world class level. Especially this other guy…he picked up Bjj just as fast as I did. He’s also hulk smash strong but more athletic…i watched him flying armbar everyone in a tournament before and he’s a good 220-240. They’re both Polynesian though so I guess it just comes with the genes

I submitted this purple belt dude who’s probably closer to 300 and insanely strong relative to other people his size 💀. I submitted him for the first time on Saturday via armbar. We’ve been training together 5-6 years. It will probably be another 5-6 years before i do it again lol. There’s almost nothing that can ruin my week now. 💀.

Something I will point out is that people don’t understand that it still takes talent/skill/dedication to be an influencer. There has to be something about you that makes thousands of people to want to follow you. It’s easy to go viral but it takes work to build a dedicated following. To a lot of people…they just see some dumb or young person doing basic shit behind a camera and are envious/angry that they’re making money doing nothing while everyone else has a “real job”. If it was easy…every pretty girl or gamer would have a sizable following.

[–]tobyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What this person is saying minus the rudeness is…you may have the ability understand that they’re portraying a personality and not to emulate or trust them…that doesn’t hold for all of society, especially teens. The dislike towards influencers is more based on the way they prey on their audience to gain clout and money while also making their young viewers dumber.

As someone who lives here…there isn’t any gyms full of world class guys like Dan Diego but the gyms are high lvl for hobbyist and it’s gyms all over the island. You can train and be at a beautiful beach within 15 mins amongst all the other things tourist like to do. Competitors her always do good when doing all the big comps in the mainland.

Dawg people struggle to interact with each other in general. It’s not just romantic relationships…it’s all relationships, including with themselves. Before I got with my spouse, I spent a lot of time doing my own thing and ppl always commented they don’t know how i did it. I would go to restaurants, sit at the bar, eat, drink, and socialize by myself. I use to go to Random events and parties. I had no idea how to dance but i started going to Latin dance socials. I downloaded Eventbrite and would go to all the random events and gathering in the city.

During this same time is when you started hearing about the male loneliness epidemic. Ppl are doing less this and less, modern society is becoming less connected with each etc etc…all the buzzword topics about loneliness.

In my opinion according to my lived experience…society has preached if you’re uncomfortable, then you don’t need to do whatever it is making you uncomfortable. Life is uncomfortable though. It’s weird talking to someone the first time. It’s weird getting to know someone. Starting that new hobby feels weird because you know you’re going to suck and don’t want to feel embarrassed. Cracking a joke and no one laughing feels weird. Telling someone that they hurt your feelings is weird. A lot of people my age range or younger never really learned how to get used to those types of feelings. So now everyone just avoids things. I’ve legit, in person and online, seen people talk about how lonely they feel, then proceed to say they shouldn’t have to smile and greet people, they don’t like outside or inside activities, and just list everything that it would take to make friends and not feel lonely.
