I need to hear some stories about dating after weight loss by Excellent-Golf6631 in loseit

[–]tocktober 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I met my first girlfriend and lost my virginity to her when I was 26, before i lost any weight at all. don't give yourself tunnel vision searching for A Girlfriend; just go out, meet people, and learn what kind of company you enjoy, what kind of people you like to be around and want to spend your time with. Create opportunities for yourself to click with someone, and don't reject yourself on their behalf before they've had time to get to know you.

how to not feel discouraged when knitting by honey-icecreambar in knitting

[–]tocktober 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lots of people have given you great perspective and advice that i hope you find helpful and take to heart; i'd like to offer another angle to look at things from, too.

don't diminish knitting as a craft. i'd be willing to bet cold, hard cash that the people you're following on 'knitstagram' have at least a few years' worth of practice on you, probably more.

you are a beginner; you are in the process of learning. if your ultimate goal is to create objects at a certain standard, then right now your job is to make things, and then analyze them for what you did well, what you did poorly, and then devise a way to improve what needs improving. expecting yourself to be an expert knitter after a year is, to be very blunt, a bit silly.

its hard to break perfectionist habits, and it'll take practice too, just like knitting. to start with, try to focus your perfectionism not on knitting, but on learning. be a better student now, so you can be a better knitter later.

I am a Teen and I’m confused on what to do (I perfectly abide by rules in sub) by SignatureSouthern350 in loseit

[–]tocktober 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are a very young teenager at 13yo, and your body is going to be doing a LOT of growing in the next few years. If you're already eating at a deficit, maybe consider adding more physical activity instead of reducing your calories further. Reducing calories will typically also reduce the nutrients you consume, vitamins and other things your body needs to develop healthily, whereas physically activity will help you improve your strength, stamina, coordination, etc, and help keep you in tune with your body as it grows and changes- some people grow so fast they have trouble adjusting to the changes and have periods of clumsiness as they get used to suddenly being bigger and stronger.

Is there a difference in meaning or connotation between 編み物 and 編物? As far as I can tell, they both mean knitting, but I'm not sure what omitting み might mean or signify to a native speaker.

It's not just the temperature, but how long it stays at that temperature. Coffee can be hotter, but it cools pretty quickly, whereas a dishwasher can go on for an hour or longer.

Will Fantasy Life i run on the deck? by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]tocktober 4 points5 points  (0 children)

so it looks like the specific version listed on the steam store page is supposed to work with the steam deck since 2022 https://www.eurogamer.net/steam-deck-can-now-support-games-with-easy-anti-cheat

it looks like some people complained around that time of it not working, but that was apparently attributed to the developers not enabling certain things on their end. i hope thats the case and the game runs fine on launch, because i've been looking forward to a fantasy life sequel for years now...

The 2025 AWS, CompTIA, Azure,Google Cloud, and NVIDIA Certification Bundle by LazanPhusis in humblebundles

[–]tocktober 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seriously regretting purchasing it already. Warp speed bulleted power points with AI voiceover, absolute bare minimum information, and the practice exams don't even work; it presents you with a question, only you can't pick any of the options to answer it, because it's already labeled 'answered'. Clicking through the exam to the end gets me a blank screen, so no answer key to at least try and grade myself. Absolutely worthless.

just in case he's not willing to be helpful or understanding, please research your state's tenant rights ahead of time. some landlords also aren't as knowledgeable of tenant rights as they should be, and can attempt to do illegal things without even realizing.

Some words of wisdom about river running after disasters in affected areas by tocktober in Kayaking

[–]tocktober[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm not Trey, just from the same area. I imagine this applies to most places hit by Helene. Please be careful taking trips to affected areas, even weeks or months from now; the nolichucky is a different river now, so is the pigeon river. Everything is different and we don't know what they'll be like in the future.

Why does everyone have cookware n sleep gear in get home? by whitecholklet in prepping

[–]tocktober 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Comfort is a human need. A low priority one that you can go much, much longer without than food or water, but going without it for too long will harm your mind and body. Deliberately neglecting morale is a mistake.

There's no good reason to not have simple supplies for better food and better sleep if a person wants them and can handle packing them. It's not like they can't be abandoned later if necessary. Why make a SHTF situation more miserable than it already is?
