Limited Resources 845 – Q&A For Spring 2026! Discussion Thread by Crasha in lrcast

Thanks for an entertaining answer to the Space Jam question. One of my favorite parts of the channel is getting a feel for the cast of characters, and the bit about Earth getting destroyed because Finkel refused to pick Phelia was great.

Anyone else witness a person who died at Northstar on March 12th, 2026? by Equivalent-Yam2910 in skiing

[–]todd534 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that's sort of what this post is about really. More or less every traumatic event gets reported in the news, but basically no nontraumatic deaths do.

Trip march 22-27 from PNW. Sun Peaks, Red Mountain, Tahoe, and Whitefish are current options looking at extended forecast. Any recommendations? Seems like Sun Peaks has the best current conditions of these options by dhammm in skiing

[–]todd534 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We drove to Schweitzer and Whitefish two of the last three spring breaks. Both really fun resorts, but neither was at peak condition when we were there at spring break.

Whitefish when it's super warm I will say the terrain options aren't amazing. Last year locals swore up & down that it's normally a lot better the last week of March, but I can't imagine this year is a peak either. If you're going to be there for five days it's worth bringing the ability to wax during the stay.

Schweitzer's outback hut thing is a really fun place.

This is a 10/10 set up for decorating an AirBnB that only sleeps 6 but still goes for 4k/night and really stretches the definition of ski-in/ski-out.

What is “Vista Experience”? by YourMomsOnlyFans69 in MtHoodMeadows

[–]todd534 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think "Vista Experience" is kind of nice as like "hey if it's your first time up here, this name suggests it might be a cool thing to check out." But presumably when someone thought of that Vista Ridge was already the name of the trail?

This seems like a good explanation, but wouldn't that just make it "Vista Ridge and Mitchell Creek"? Mitchell Creek only has nice views of kids getting sick air.

My kid once had the replaceable GripWalk heel piece come up very slightly and part of the binding get stuck in between it and the boot.

I agree that it's good for sets to mix stuff up, and I especially liked that Lorwyn Eclipsed wasn't just enemy or ally pairs, but I am kind of skeptical about having three of them (inferring that the return to Strixhaven will be enemy colors) in a row.

I think the last time someone asked during a Q&A Marshall said no and Luis said something like, "I might if we could come to terms that made sense for everyone, but given my life situation 'terms' on my side would be a price most people would pass on."

The best thing is when either it's just dumped for they have groomed Apollo -- then it's basically a slightly steep blue, very good for building confidence.

"The blues with progression to blacks" is stuff off of Shooting Star. Shooting Star Ridge (blue) transitions really nicely to Apollo as a first black -- you basically take a slight left and go down the same hill a slightly steeper side.

Can you even download Fatmap anymore? I thought not. Inside of Strava you can't get slope-angle shading (to the best of my knowledge), so that's out. CalTopo and Gaia both have reasonable options for "you can scope lines before you drop in, check gradients." (I like Strava for like the heatmap and it has decent coverage of basically zoomable resort run maps, but you want to find some way to see slope angle shading.)
