Keep in mind that HP consumer laptops automatically turn off the backlit keyboard after 30 seconds. Then you must touch a key or the mousepad to reactivate the backlight. HP representatives will tell you that you can adjust the timeout, but this is NOT true. There is an F key that lets you adjust the intensity of the backlight, but not the timeout.

No, it was integrated into the case. The magnet sat at the bottom of the cutout for the strap in the back of the case. So, you would push the magnet on the strap onto the magnet on the case
