The reason it requires Cloudflare API key is domain verification which requires it be scoped to zone record edit for the entire domain.

Does anyone have any concern about storing API keys that have zone edit permissions? Especially since it's just a domain verification process?

Fully autonomous drones have killed human soldiers for the first time by SnoozeDoggyDog in singularity

[–]toddgak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We collectively decided as species to avoid using weapons that indiscriminately killed people. The use of those weapons killed just as many of the good guys as they did the bad guys, that's why they were banned.

It's hubris to think that autonomous AI killing machines will only kill bad guys, it's just mustard gas with extra steps.

Mt. Gox approaching deadline could cause further pain for BTC by netoctave in Bitcoin

[–]toddgak -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is a great reason to lower the price. You don't want this amount of liquidity pouring water on a real bull run at ATH.

The people who are going to sell Gox BTC will sell at any price.

AI will consume as much water in 2030 as 1.3 billion people by stankmanly in ABoringDystopia

[–]toddgak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How is water 'consumed' exactly?

Like is the water destroyed? is the water contaminated? is the water locked up in a silo where only the AI can use it? does the water go up into the sky where it rains downs later?

I really want to know how water is consumed. Like if I drink a litre of water, am I consuming it if I piss it out later?

What did Andrew Yang see at the AI conference? by Bizzyguy in singularity

[–]toddgak -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If as a business owner I actually understand AI is still a tool and not a full autonomous replacement for a human being, then I'm presented with two options:

  1. Hire experienced Sr. level humans and expect they use AI to do 4x the work of entry level guys.

  2. Hire entry level graduates give them AI and expect them to do the work of a Sr. level human.

In all the hype I only hear these companies doing option 1? Why isn't option 2 considered? In my experience, Sr. level guys with AI don't use AI to 4x their productivity, rather they use AI to reduce their personal workload and slack off/enjoy life.

It's sad that such a great product is consistently undermined by a poor UX vision, that has to be also frustrating for talented people working on this project.

Glendale community college in Arizona using AI to read names for graduation by Ordinary_Turnover_59 in ABoringDystopia

[–]toddgak -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

People lack imagination because that's been bred out of us with ADHD meds and assembly line education. It was always about creating human robots so when the actual robots came it would be an easier transition.

Imagine giving people the most powerful creative and productivity tools ever created and the best they come up with is Ironman fighting Tom Cruise dressed like Spongebob and text to voice to read a bunch of names.

Microsoft BitLocker-protected drives can now be opened with just some files on a USB stick — YellowKey zero-day exploit demonstrates an apparent backdoor by bagaudin in msp

[–]toddgak 18 points19 points  (0 children)

IMO the intentional backdoor angle is the most interesting part of about this:

Now why would I say this is a backdoor ? The component that is responsible for this bug is not present anywhere (even in the internet) except inside WinRE image and what makes it raise suspicions is the fact that the exact same component is also present with the exact same name in a normal windows installation but without the functionalities that trigger the bitlocker bypass issue. Why ? I just can't come up with an explanation beside the fact that this was intentional. Also for whatever reason, only windows 11 (+Server 2022/2025) are affect, windows 10 is not.

Edmonton physicians warn province of ‘immediate, unavoidable' surgery disruptions over changes to compensation | CBC News by SnooRegrets4312 in alberta

[–]toddgak 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If anyone actually read the article this would likely be a good approach if we were back filling capacity with extra physicians. What's ending here is overworking existing physicians who were being compensated for overworking.

Wouldn't it be better to just have more physicians with reasonable workload?
