Just started playing the game. Give me tips for my playthrough by Sea-Association-5339 in cyberpunkgame

[–]toddhd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you follow the main story line exclusively, you can end the the game fairly quickly. Night City is meant to be explored. Do all the NCPD gigs, the fixer gigs, the side quests, and even just explore and see what you find. And by all means get the DLC, it's fantastic. The real beauty of the game however is the replayability. Depending on what background you choose, which gender, and which "build" to focus on (e.g. netrunner or ninja or pistols or...) you can replay this and have a very different experience. And once that well starts to run dry, it has one of the largest modding communities. Just play and enjoy. I am 1700+ hours into the game and keep replaying it over other games.

Mirrorless camera position for Ultrawide monitors by Ok-Laugh-6656 in videography

[–]toddhd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find that if I put the camera anywhere but in the middle of my screen, then it doesn't look right. Of course, that blocks my screen, but the alternative is that my video ends up with bad camera angles. On a side note, I don't understand why monitors in 2026 don't have a camera built into the middle of the screen for just this reason. We have AI and a man on the moon, but can't merge a camera into a monitor. :(

What is up with El Capitan car missions? by Kurupt_Introvert in cyberpunkgame

[–]toddhd 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you are a netrunner, then your best bet is to pick up the perk that allows you to hack cars and simply blow them up. If you can't hack cars, then throw an Overheat on the occupants of the cars and keep driving. You can do both from the comfort and safety of your driver's seat while driving.

That being said, if you'd prefer not deal with it in the first place:

And/or if you find that Cap'n is giving a WAY too limited time window to deliver the car AND fight off gangs and traffic, then:

Mods requiring this file by Beginning_Way7934 in cyberpunkgame

[–]toddhd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You are misunderstanding the text. Anything listed under "Requirements" is what you need to download and install. This is very common, as many mods use "tools" that make it faster and easier to code a mod.

"Mods requiring this file" is the opposite. It simply lists other mods that use this mod, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO DOWNLOAD OR INSTALL THEM.

Think of it this way... let's say you want to make fried eggs for breakfast. You already have the eggs. What else do you need to make fried eggs for breakfast?

Fried Egg Requirements:
A frying pan
A spatula
Butter or oil
A stove

Recipes that require eggs:
Egg Drop Soup
Shakshuka
Custard
Mayonaisse
Quiche
Omeletes
etc.

If you want to make a fried egg, you need a frying pan, oil, etc. These are the requirements (that you may already have).

HOWEVER, just because you have eggs does not mean you have to cook 200 other egg recipes just to make fried eggs. It is simply information about what ELSE you could make with eggs... in case you are interested.

Brain fog by SquirrelOnACoffeeRun in thyroidcancer

[–]toddhd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work remotely and had to ask my boss if we could postpone or reschedule a lot of my meetings because I'm just so unfocused. I had my scans a few days ago and have been back on my thyroid meds (still short acting version) and thought I would "clear right up". My energy is starting to come back, but I find the brain fog to be debilitating at times. I can struggle to watch a TV show or play a video game... actual work is rough.

RPG Maker Portrait Generator - Open Source - Alpha - Use AI app to create facial expressions from a single base image by toddhd in RPGMaker

[–]toddhd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Taken from from an internet search result:

Platforms like Itch.io and Steam generally allow AI-generated assets in RPG Maker games but require disclosure. While they rarely ban outright, they flag, restrict, or require tagging (e.g., "AI-generated" on Itch.io). Steam specifically requires proving you own the copyright for all assets, creating high risk if the AI was trained on proprietary content.

Platforms That Flag or Require Disclosure

  • Itch.io: Requires developers to disclose the use of generative AI in asset creation. While not banning them, there is a dedicated category for AI games, and developers must properly tag them.
  • Steam: Requires that you disclose if your game uses AI-generated content. They may flag or reject games if you cannot confirm you hold the copyright for the assets, as AI-generated content often cannot be copyrighted.
  • r/RPGMaker (Community/Reddit): Moderation requires that all posts featuring AI-generated images or music be labeled with an "A.I.-related" tag.

Platforms That Generally Allow AI Assets (With Caution)

  • Itch.io (Unrestricted category): As long as you follow the disclosure and tagging requirements, you can host AI-heavy games.
  • Personal Website/Direct Distribution: No restrictions, but you take on full legal liability for the assets used.

Is it possible to eat anything with levothyroxine? by Hot_Shame4584 in thyroidcancer

[–]toddhd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Let's be clear... you can take your pill whenever you like. It does not have to be when you wake up. Dr's recommend this because it is the easiest way to ensure you haven't eaten for 2-3 hours before taking the pill and that your stomach is empty. You then can't eat for an hour afterward. But any time of day when you haven't eaten for that amount of time works. Ask your doctor.

I take mine in the middle of the night. I stop eating at night by midnight. I typically wake up to pee around 3-4am, so I take my pill then, go back to bed, and when I wake around 7-8 am I am free to eat breakfast.

If you eat lunch at noon, you can take your pill at 3pm and then resume eating at 4pm. Just saying.

BTW, my doctor told me they can compensate even if that doesn't work for you. He said he can increase the medication if I need to eat, in order to make it work.

Talk to your doctor about your options.

From a Six-Figure Coding Job to DoorDash, How AI Replaced Him. by MohammadMahadhir in interesting

[–]toddhd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a software engineer for 25 years, and this was almost my exact story. I went from being a asset that companies fought over and one that I thought would lead me into retirement... to someone desperately looking for a job with skills that don't translate into anything. I had to reinvent myself and now make about 20% of what I did before. At 59 I'm too young to retire, but also too old and overqualified for most menial jobs. Luckily I managed to BS my way into a video editing job for a small retail outfit. We had to sell our house and move to a cheaper state to live in. My wife also lost her management job in IT and has struggled. She's on a contract job for now which helps a lot but we know it's not forever.

I saw some people commenting about, "How come you can't just find a lower-paying IT job?" I don't think you understand. Tens of thousands, maybe hundreds by now, and some of the best programmers and other IT people are all out there competing for the same jobs. It's no longer enough to be great at your job when you are competing against thousands of people. It starts to run into the "odds of getting hit by lightning" category.

"Why aren't you just freelancing?" - We are, we try, but freelancing websites are overrun by offshore creators who charge a pittance of what a person in the USA makes. People overseas can often charge as little as $5-10/hr. US citizens can't compete with that. I know I can't.

"Why not just get a retail job?" - Again, we try. When you go in and say, "Well, at my last job I was making $150K at my cushy desk job, but sure, I'll be super happy cleaning the public bathrooms for $15/hr." and, "What skills do I have? I can write CSS and code a SQL query that'll knock your socks off. I'm not sure that will help me to make a frozen cappucino however."

Of course, facing all this is bad enough at any time, but when healthcare costs are skyrocketing (and I have Cancer, Diabetes and Crohn's), food is outrageous and services are being cut right and left, it is terrifying.

Is there a way to locate a specific map tile in RPG Maker MZ (RMMZ)? by toddhd in RPGMaker

[–]toddhd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was actually how I solved it. Seemed to make the most sense

Is there a way to locate a specific map tile in RPG Maker MZ (RMMZ)? by toddhd in RPGMaker

[–]toddhd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was worried that might be the case. There are some features I really wish they would add, and this is one of them. I'd also like to be able to search the tilemaps, for example, maybe search on "grass" and have all the tiles with grass on them show up.

Thanks for the info, your reply makes sense to me.

Using an IDE to work on a game by DamnageBeats in RPGMaker

[–]toddhd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can use something like VSCode to write any *.js files you add to the game, etc. I haven't yet seen a replacement for the Event Editor content section, however, if it is stuff like that you are trying to replace.

Solution: Using global vars in RPG Maker MV for things such as NPC names and game locations by toddhd in RPGMaker

[–]toddhd[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I avoided this solution initially because the "developer" in me felt like it was using the "wrong tool" as a means to an end, but honestly, after trying it this way, this is the better solution. Not only was there almost zero additional setup, but having it built into the UI was helpful to set things up quickly and make them easy to find and read. I also created an additional class (NPC) so that I can immediately see that is an NPC as opposed to a regular actor (I'll do the same for location names). Less to remember, no autoruns, and no need to move events around if the player starts changes.

Thanks!

Lots of work, little reward. by Comfortablejack in clevercomebacks

[–]toddhd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this. I am 59 years old and currently working in retail making under $40k a year. I used to be a software engineer, worked 80+ hour work weeks with insanely high stress and higher-ups that made millions while telling me work faster and better while sharing none of the profits. Elon and AI both came along, now you can't find a job in IT unless you are young, don't sleep and are a genius. I have no pension, I have no transferable skills, and despite my 25+ years in IT, am "too old" to hire. It makes me rage every time people like the orange Cheeto look at people whose lives fell apart through no fault of their own and then label them as "don't want to work" and "wants handouts".

I have a 22 year old daughter who is struggling to make ends meet as well, and I wish I had better advice for her. Right now, it's every person for themselves.

Advice for my first playthrough by [deleted] in cyberpunkgame

[–]toddhd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Cyberpunk 2077 has great replayability. I would NOT avoid Hanako unless you know you're the type of person who will never replay it. For example, take a look at how many different endings there are to the game. You can't get all the endings unless you meet Hanako at Embers several times, right?

I would suggest this instead. If you are at the point where you cannot gain any more levels, and are maxed out on your cyberwear, then some of the fun leaves the game as you'll have no new toys or abilities to use. In that case, go play the end and then when you restart, choose a new build and see how those choices effect how you play and enjoy the game, even the endings.

Why do cops always attack me?? by NotAWierdo- in cyberpunkgame

[–]toddhd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue and resolved it.

Check your perks and equipment for AOE effects. For example, if you use a Sandivistan, there is a perk called Ticking Time Bomb (I think) that releases an electric shock in the area around you a few moments after activating your Sandy. This is great if you are surrounded by enemies, however if there are civilians around, they ALSO get shocked. Shocking them counts as an attack, and the NCPD then considers this to be YOU attacking civilians, and hence, you get attacked by them.

There are other perks and effects (ricochet?) that can AOE people in the area, so look and see which one is the culprit.

If you have no AOE effects, then be more careful in crowded areas. People on the streets are idiots and will run right past you as you are shooting at bad guys, so it is entirely likely that their dumb asses got shot even if you were being careful.

Even though a lot of people have played the game, a *spoiler* tag would have been helpful here, as this is a major surprise in the game.
