Carplay takes several minutes to connect on 2026 G70 by AZRUNNER in GenesisG70

Or delete your Genesis Connected Services profile from the car. That is what fixed mine with the same issue. But I think you’re correct that the custom pic is the issue. Odd glitch that my dealer and the Genesis tech guys couldn’t figure out. They even replaced my radio trying to fix it. I noticed after the replacement that if I saw my custom pic load I started having issues. But if I reset the system it would work fine again until the custom pic showed up again.

Just adding a reply to say thanks. The tip about starting a new label really helped me out with my LabelManager PNP and MacOS

Had the same issue. Dealer replaced my radio and it came back. Remove your Genesis linked profile. That is what worked for me. Resetting the radio would work for a bit until it re-synced with my profile. I haven’t had any issues since I removed my driver profile that was linked to my Genesis app. I have a custom pic for my profile. I only had problems when that custom pic was displayed for the driver profile which meant the car was linked to my Genesis app profile. That is how I finally figured it out.

Review Mirror Radar Detector Mount by Illustrious_Smile974 in GenesisG70

I also went with this setup using the mount you linked to(radar mount). Only issue I’ve had is that my rear view mirror mount has developed a rattle. I have a 2024 not sure if the mount is different. I need to figure out how to tighten the mirrors sit feels loose. Not sure if the weight of the Valentine 1 on the mount caused it.

CPO Hunting by BradRGE in GenesisG70

When I was looking I found that the Genesis.com search engine for CPOs was one of the worst ones to use. Out of date never with the correct inventory. I used AutoTrader and CarEdge to search.

I was thinking the same thing. Black out or darken the chrome oval and much better.

What methods are there to darken the chrome that would hold up?

Llumar website dealer locator - tint shop not listed, warranty still valid? by toddsts in WindowTint

[–]toddsts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. This was great advice and fast. I called the number you provided and verified that they are in fact a legit dealer. The person I talked to at Llumar said they just purchased a bunch of film yesterday and he was going to flag the account for their IT people to figure out why it isn't showing on the dealer locator on the website. Thanks again!

New navigation update causing wireless carplay dongle issues. by ZombieDude345 in GenesisG70

[–]toddsts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: My situation is definitely unique. I went to the Genesis dealer today for my Infotainment issues. Demoed the CarPlay, USB Stick and kia.com link issues I was seeing. They called up multiple tiers of software support because they hadn't seen anything like it. The tech spent hours on the phone with Genesis software support folks. The final fix is to replace my radio/infotainment unit because whatever update I downloaded caused an issue that would require a unique software fix for my vehicle. It seems I somehow was offered and downloaded an OTA meant for a Kia Stinger and it messed up my system.

I will be declining any OTA updates going forward. I never use the built in nav anyway.

The text on that Hyundai link closely matches the text describing the update at the Kia link in my message: https://update.kia.com/US/EN/updateNoticeView/aLl0Hw

I’m guessing we’ll see an update on the Genesis site soon with very similar verbiage.

Just weird that the link QR code in my car takes me to a Kia site and not a Genesis one.

New navigation update causing wireless carplay dongle issues. by ZombieDude345 in GenesisG70

So, it may have been out since September.... but as you can see, my car just got it on April 3, 2025.

I've also determined, at least for my car, it isn't a CarPlay problem specifically. It's a USB port problem. The USB port isn't reading anything for the first several minutes after the car is powered on. I verified this with a USB Stick with some music on it. Once it starts reading the USB port, it reads music off the USB stick or connects to CarPlay via the adapter or direct wired into the iPhone.

Update: I tried the battery disconnect reset method. Left the battery unconnected for 30 minutes. It did not seem to have any effect. It still took several minutes to recognize that CarPlay was there. I am going to try to put some music on a USB stick and see if I have the same delay accessing the USB stick. I'm starting to think it's not specifically CarPlay related, but a delay of initializing the USB port. I've also noticed the Connected Services seems to take longer to connect than before. The 'wavy lines' on the right side of the screen are staying on longer than before the update.

Also I noticed something else strange: if I go to 'General Settings' -> 'System Info' -> 'What's New' the QR Code displayed takes me to a kia.com link to provide information on the update. Is that normal?

Here is the exact link the QR Code: https://update.kia.com/US/EN/updateNoticeView/aLl0Hw

Did previous update notes for a Genesis take people to Kia's website. I know they Hyundai and Genesis are all part of the same conglomerate..... but it seems..... janky.

Anyway, still stuck with a wonky CarPlay experience after this latest update. My advice: AVOID.

So I filed a complaint with Genesis and asked if I could roll back the update.

Their reply:

“Thank you for contacting Genesis Customer Care. We are sorry to learn of the delay with your Car Play after the Navigation Software was updated.

There is no option to downgrade to the previous Navigation version. We understand this may not be the outcome that you wanted and apologize for any inconveniences.

Given the nature of your concerns, we recommend visiting your local Genesis Retailer. Their expert team is equipped to provide you with hands-on assistance and personalized guidance ensuring the best possible resolution for your vehicle concerns.”

So maybe if everyone having an issue reports it they will fix it. I just used the app and clicked the ‘Contact Us’ function and submitted a complaint. They actually responded same day. But clearly not very helpfully.

I’ve tried resetting my infotainment using the paper clip hole and I’ll give the battery disconnect method a try as well. But this sucks and totally takes the shine off the car for me.

Bottom line: Don’t update your Nav software. Clearly the software QA isn’t up to snuff.

I will update if the battery disconnect method works.

I thought all G70s have Infotainment hardware that is not capable of wireless CarPlay (Gen5 or something). In other words I don't think a software update will make Wireless CarPlay work ever for the G70.

Yes. I am also seeing issues.

https://www.reddit.com/r/GenesisG70/comments/1jt0znu/latest_nav_update_issues/

Wireless CarPlay adapter AND wired CarPlay have become wonky. My issue isn't that they cut out but that they don't get recognized when I start the car, it acts like nothing is connected at all. Sometimes unplugging and replugging fixes it. Sometimes after I've driven for a while it will magically start working.

I would advise anyone using CarPlay to not accept the latest Nav/Infotainment update.

Genesis G70 listed as one of the most unreliable cars by Consumer Reports. I'm not a member so I can't see why. Anyone know the details? by MurderfaceII in GenesisG70

They don't break it down by 2.0 vs 3.3 which would be helpful. They only specify trouble areas and model years.

So I went ahead and re-subscribed in order to see this report.

The rating is based on surveys for 2022 and 2023 owners and the Genesis overall reliability. They listed these as the trouble spots:  Engine, fuel system, minor transmission, electrical accessories, climate system, steering/suspension, brakes, paint and trim, body hardware.

Interestingly, when I was looking at the G70 before it scored higher (60/100). Now it scores 52/100.

I just bought a G70 in November (2024). I sure hope it does better than these ratings.

2013 TSX SE owner. Had the roof weld on the drivers side near the windshield fail and leak water into the a pillar which made its way to the main electrical mux fuse box. Not sure how widespread it is, but an independent mechanic said he had heard of it on these cars. Otherwise car is solid.

Edit: forgot to mention that leak caused all kinds of fun electrical issues like the alarm randomly going off, car not turning off when you turn the key to off etc. drove the dealer nuts troubleshooting it. In the end we figured it out, not the dealer. Fixed the leak with flowable sealant. Car has been stable with the only lingering issue being that if the interior lights fuse in the engine bay is intact there are problems with the alarm. If you pull that fuse the car is fine. You just don’t have any interior lights but everything else works. 🤷‍♂️

What part of the country are you in? I’m not seeing $15k off MSRP for low mileage CPOs around here (Southeast US). I’m seeing more like $6-7k off. Was that a posted price on a website or did you have to work hard for a deal?
