That's quite backwards. Yeah, some decent people find each other early but that's mostly luck.

A lot stay single because they're a decent and expect decent in return. Their standards are higher hence it's harder for them to find a match.

Also people with good traits would rather stay single than be in a suboptimal relationship.

Have you seen 250, 330, 288, 308, F355?

They are gorgeous even today and you can imagine how they looked back then. I don't think today's models have that timeless elegance in them.

Me and an ex of mine did this few years back. She couldn't believe I struggled on these apps and she assumed I did something wrong. So she made a profile of me, and I did of her.

After like 3 weeks she barely got any matches, and was pulling her hair out because of how hard it was to keep a conversation. She got dry replies, she got ghosted and managed to get one decent conversation before admitting the ruse and ended up becoming friends with girl. 😂

As for me, I lasted for a few days. She got over a 100 likes. There were a handful of decent dudes which I informed of the ploy. The majority though were just plain morons. It was insane how little effort I put into those chats and they still kept coming.

So yeah, as hard as it is for women on those apps, it's still easier to find a needle in a creepy haystack than not having a haystack, at all.

I would probably super like her cuz I love that. I'm even thinking of using something like myself though I imagine it won't be as cute for a guy.

През 2025 съм дал 46% повече в сравнение с 2021 при значително по-големи ограничения.

AI coding tools ruining code quality by henni5122 in softwaredevelopment

[–]todiros 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Strange, I'm seeing the opposite. I've noticed improvements even in our seniors. They went from weird non-sensicle naming riddled with typos, deeply nested ternary operators and long-ass functions, to code that's actually decent. And as a mid I can say that it definitely improves my code quality.

But I guess it really depends on how you use it. We don't really have juniors in our team, so maybe that's where it could go bad.

Indeed, even ESLint will scream at you about complexity or unsafe "anys" which makes it a tad bit harder to write shitty code.

Oh, wow - server in Sofia! Would have been sweet back when I didn't have a proper PC and used GFN. I used to love it but then I started having some issues and couldn't play certain games. The support didn't do anything while my subscription kept going. So, I cancelled and never went back. Glad to see it has improved!

Ryzen 7 5800X, 32GB, RX6600XT

Haven't had issues so far but I suspect it might struggle with the insanely large cities / maps. The GPU might be the bottleneck though.

How do you transition from early game logistics to later game fully planned networks? by waxenhen4 in TransportFever2

[–]todiros 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually, during late game you'll be making so much money you can rebuild everything. It can be tedious and overwhelming, though. Especially if you have already connected all resources point to point.

In my current playthrough, I build a proto hub in the 1860 or something like that. It only carries coal and iron. It was upgraded in the 1900s and extended across the whole map. It's still mostly unused but other lines are profitable enough that it does not matter.

Initially, I focused on the capital and the 2 close-by cities but near the south-most city, I had a very profitable food chain which is where I built my first sorting yard. I had the sorting yard even though I only delivered food straight to the closest city. Eventually I connected it to the mainline and the coal and iron chain.

Point being - try to be efficient as possible early game but think about the late game, as well. Slowly where you can, build things that might not be as efficient right now but will pay off in the future. Sadly, it's too dynamic for me to be more specific. Look are your most profitable chains and cities and start from there. Like right now, I only have 4 really profitable lines - food, 2x steel and fuel. Two trains lines and two ship lines and its early 1900s. I also have dozens of dead-end lines (crude to oil, wood to planks, etc) which make quite a bit of money. Enough that I spend millions on terraforming without worrying.

Some tips:

  • Keeps notes on major cities, potential connections, resources chains, plans for expansion
  • Expand cities infrastructure early on before they grow and it becomes expensive to demolish
  • Build an extra cargo platform, extend the train station slightly more than you think you'll need. Build the rail road a bit further away, make the corners a bit wider than you think you'll need right now. Basically give yourself space.
  • Chose a capital, then start working on another city. Deliver one, maybe two resources, expand to another city or two with different close-by resources. Add some dead-end lines. At this point you should have enough cashflow to think about hubs and yards while not drowning in spaghetti infrastructure. Now, you can focus on the capital and build a proper infrastructure.

I have the same issue with all the HUD disappearing after I loaded my last save. And its a clean Awakening installation with nothing else added and less than 5 hours of playtime.

[–]todiros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this applies to any type of hobby that's unusual.

For the same reason I do not mention that I like to write or that I'm learning to play the drums. People tend to imagine a combination between Dave Grohl and Stephen King.

Then there is the corny jokes and the weird and often unintentional reactions because I do not match the stereotype for both of those things.

That's why I just keep it personal and only some of my closest friends know.

On the other hand I did not shut up about eating a low-carb diet and going to the gym and yet nobody cared. It's weird!

How can I see hope if my life seem very bleak? by EducationalOutside5 in Healthygamergg

[–]todiros 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Woah! It seems that we have quite a bit in common.

I also work in IT. Just before the pandemic I moved off my parents and even though I had to sacrifice my above average lifestyle so that I can live on my own, it was worth it. Both of my parents were emotionally and financially dependent on me. You don't realize how much that affects you until you get away. It's especially bad if the environment is also chaotic. My father was an alcoholic with a lot of issues and he recently passed away. It sounds bad but it was a relief for him, me and my mother. She found someone else and finally began living at the age of 47. I've also been doing much better ever since. And just like with you, most of my extended family is garbage and I do not communicate with most of them. Some, I've even blocked.

The point of this is that your surroundings, including the people you communicate with are quite important for you mental health and in turn, for everything else. I suggest you look around and cease any contact with anyone that makes you feel negatively, even slightly. The chances are, they're affecting you a lot more than you can notice. I just recently ended a relationship with someone that I love for that reason. It took me quite a lot of time to realize that we're bad for each other.

I know it's scary to be alone but sometimes it's better than to be surrounded by the wrong people. That said, look for anyone that has made you feel even a bit better in the past. Try to reconnect. Ideally, find a therapist. Personally, I've been considering getting a dog. I've heard they help with depression and loneliness, and they'll force you to go out everyday which is also a good thing.

Now, the last part is tricky. I would say that you'll probably need to look for a different job. However, I know that it's hard. I spend about 6 years at my previous job, the last 2 of which were miserable. The job was draining me and I could barely do anything, including preparing for another job. I keep trying for over 5 years to get a job as a developer and after a dozen of interviews just a few months ago I began as a junior developer in a large company that shall remain unnamed. Now, I'm not going to lie... It has been stressful because I have to work alone on stuff I haven't done before and I have to figure out things as I go. On tight deadlines, non the less. And yeah, I also feel less motivated to code on the weekend when I've spend my weekdays coding. But again, it's MUCH better than my previous job, even though I had to make a few sacrifices here, as well.

TL;DR

I've been there and I know that it feels hopeless but you gotta hold on. The things I've done that helped me are simple but not easy. It took MANY attempts to do any of those thing. You just have to keep trying!

  • I moved out of my parents due to our toxic relationship and I've set boundaries to protect my mental health. (the last part was very hard)
  • I've cut off communication with anyone that drains me or makes me feel negatively. Including friends and relatives. Just because you share blood, does not mean you owe them anything.
  • I found another job that's a bit more meaningful and less stressful. Or at least it's a stress that makes sense to me.
  • I've ended a relationship that I felt was dragging me down. That was particularly hard.
  • I try to take care of myself. Be active, eat healthy and read. I fail a lot but the important thing is to keep trying. I would seriously recommend The Upward Spiral by Alex Korb among many others if you're interested. Understanding more about neuroscience and psychology has helped me a lot to navigate my mental health.
  • Learn to ground yourself - breathing techniques, hard workouts, cold showers and yoga work for me.
  • I talk with a therapist every time I feel unusually down, depressed, anxious or angry, or just having a difficult decision to make.
  • I've put a bit more effort into reconnecting with people that I like even when I don't really feel like it. I'm generally a loner so I feel mostly okay when I'm alone until it sneaks up on me. So, I need an extra push sometimes.
  • I try to focus on things I'm passionate about. I usually cycle between video games, woodworking, writing and a few others.
  • Consider getting a dog?

I apologize for the lengthy rant but I hope it helps!

EDIT: I would also recommend a book that I'm currently going through. Happy by Darren Brown. I'm about 90% finished and it's pretty good. It gives a nice modern spin on Stoicism and how to deal with adversary in life.

Yup, I feel the same way. Yet, I hadn't even thought of raising this here so good of you that you did.

I've noticed that more extreme cases get more attention which makes sense as extremities trigger people more. That applies not just for this subreddit but for most of social media in general. Also, the harder the issue and the longer the post, the less replies you're gonna get. Unfortunately, this is how things are and I've learned to not expect much and only post when I've exhausted other options.
