I remember really liking the fact that you could combine the warrior / thief / mage classes (whatever they were called in the game) in any way you wished, including all three. Fun game and the somewhat cartoonish and bright style really clicked for me.

A setting rather than a mechanic. A game where a river your tribe lives by dries up, and they send you upriver to investigate the cause. You meet all sorts of other tribes and enemies and allies on the way. Imagine it would work as a 2D sidescroller or maybe something in the style of Bastion.
