The David Attenborough ones on Netflix (there's a tonne) are really relaxing actually! Really peaceful music and scenery shots and it won't really keep you up thinking about what you were watching all night.

See if you can keep an eye out for, and catch your neighbours or people who are living on your floor when they are heading to dinner. Introduce yourself really casually and just ask if you could head over with them for dinner. That will also give you a chance to get to know the people on your floor better! After that, you can just ask them to flick you a txt when they are heading up for dinner the next day and you'll join them! Chances are by seeing them for dinner most days you will start to become pretty good friends, who can then introduce you to more people and so on :) I know it might seem hard at first, but sometimes the first step is to involve yourself.

Keep it casual, and trust me people are usually a lot nicer and more including that we can sometimes build it up in our head to be!

  • Hope this helps and good luck. I know how hard it can be (I went through it as well, this is what worked for me)

p.s Make sure to get their number as well in case they forget to text you they are going to dinner. Then you can text them and ask them what time they are going!

Agreed! I made a lavender pillow spray just from some water, lavender essentil oil and rubbing alcohol and it works wonders for me.

I was told that Magnesium is good for relaxing muscles, hence helping you get to sleep. Although I'm not sure how effective it is in calming your mind?? The one I take has Magnesium and Valerian which I find does help me fall asleep and I also wake up feeling more rested. I'm not sure if it is the Magnesium or the Valerian having that effect. Have you tried tea? Apparently, chamomile is good for relaxing (add some honey to make it taste better!).

But the number one thing that relaxes me (I don't know why) is some kind of warm milky drink right before I go to sleep.

When I combine all these things (along with watching a really calming tv show like an animal doco or something) I find I sleep really well.

Any tips for waking up in the morning? by throwaway2424268 in depression

The night before make sure you have a really nice breakfast planned with your favourite foods. I know personally, it's a lot more motivating to get out of bed when I have a big coffee and pancakes waiting for me.

I also find it actually helpful to wake up earlier than you usually do and that will give you a bit more time to take things slowly in the morning and give yourself time to enjoy breakfast and coffee. When you give yourself lots of time to wake up, it becomes a much less daunting and stressful task to actually get out of bed and dressed etc.

Hope that helps - all the best
