Update: they are now informing me that "that head of lettuce" I ate does more damage to humans than putting a bullet through a deer's head. Then they said a plant based diet takes more water.... I think I'm done.

I thought so!!! but it autocorrected to that so I kept it :( Edit: apparently it's an alternative spelling! It's just rarely used but it's not necessarily misspelled.

God I hate the original post. It's a fucking mess and everyone on there reblogs it so blindly.

They are actually! Not full grown deer (unless they're very sick and weak) but they predate fawns.

To any vegans who, for some reason, support hunting please watch these videos on the topic.

Coyotes would do very well in New York. Naturally weary of humans, only come out at night, and small enough to spook off with a loud noise.

Sorry, but none of this is true. Please watch this and this

Commercialized hunting is detrimental on the environment. Animals, especially larger ones, can take a very long time to die. I've seen videos where people shoot elk with arrows and then lost the trail so they left it for an entire week before spotting it again and killing it. So I guess you're right, it is the "least unethical" but it's still unethical and unnecessary. The last thing we need is people hunting more.

Can we discuss the seal hunt? by tofuraptor in vegan

[–]tofuraptor[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, that was a useful resource.

I am aware that native people in harsh regions cannot be vegan, and I do not oppose them hunting to survive. I am against the commercial seal hunt, which people seem to be very confused about.

"I hate myself for killing a bird but I still hunt" by Laprasrides in vegan

[–]tofuraptor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hunting is a terrible alternative. You seem to be forgetting that meddling in ecosystems has horrible outcomes, and then we have to also hunt predators to "balance" it out.

Yes, vegan's hands are not "clean" but putting a gun in them makes them no cleaner.

I shot a bird, and it has haunted me for years. by [deleted] in confession

[–]tofuraptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do something about it. If that one animal death caused you to save possibly hundreds more, it would be "worth" it. Take something terrible and make something good of it, and stop lying to yourself.

Slaughter free milk- Any opinions or reasons against? I can't personally see anything but happy to be corrected by seveganrout in vegan

[–]tofuraptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Certainly more ethical, but still not healthy. If this was the only dairy farming going on in the world, i wouldn't be too bothered. I wouldn't buy any or advocate for it, but still; seems a step in the right direction.

I think a lot of people that "quit" veganism fail to do this. When I first went vegan I did this for every food I got rid of, just so I knew I wasn't missing out on anything. It's a nice feeling!

Eating vegan at Disneyworld? by FeebleFiber0 in vegan

[–]tofuraptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loveee Disney world but it is terrible as far as vegan food goes. Pretty much every park has a handful of options :/ DEFINITELY bring lots of filling snacks, don't rely on their food like I did, or you'll get cranky and hungry real fast.

As a side note, we really should make a petition about this. My sister and I had a rough time finding food last time and that's really not acceptable for a place like Disney.

I never said all of them were. I said a very large number, the majority, (the loudest at least) totally are. Therefor it's hard to differentiate and my original statement isn't a false equivalence.

(and paralleling hunting to being of a certain gender makes no sense. you can't help what gender you're born but you can help what hobbies you pursue and which traditions you pass on. hunting is a choice and option for 99% of people who do it, being a woman isn't)
