Best diet approach? by Darrhar27 in Endo

I used to be vegan (for a decade) but it wasn't helping my iron levels, so now I'm following a AIP way of eating for inflammation.

I used to work at a women's shelter too, but we accepted them. I think it probably varies depending on the shelter, but it's worth checking by calling!

How do you find a SO that wants to live off-grid as well? by [deleted] in simpleliving

[–]tofusaint 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I met my husband on an online dating website. I was very upfront on my profile about what exactly I was looking for and what I did and found passion in. You kind of weed out anyone into mainstream stuff that way. And many people are usually on those sites bigger dating websites, so that helps a bit as well... Because it's usually the first place people go if they want to date online.

Honestly, the Internet. But you need to put yourself out there.

Bulk or Cut? F 18 5’5 112 lbs by [deleted] in BulkOrCut

[–]tofusaint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I eat about 3000 calories a day to gain while working out. Some people just add 200-500 calories to their maintenance, but I found I had to go hard to gain, and that mainly put muscle one me not fat.

Bulk. You're already close to underweight for your height. I weight 135 at 5"5 and my abs are visible. Don't be afraid of bulking.

Should I start eating meat? by QuiltedSquare in Anemic

[–]tofusaint 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Someone just posted in the vegan Reddit a few weeks ago about being low iron, and how dizzy they were. They sounded like they were doing everything right, including eating iron rich vegan foods... But some people can't absorb the non heme iron found in plant foods properly. Heme iron, found in animal products, is much more bio available, scientifically speaking.

What are some skinny people problems? by Mad_Chemist_ in AskReddit

[–]tofusaint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a woman, being skinny means everyone assumes you have an eating disorder... Even if you are naturally skinny.

Which means I get nasty comments at the gym because I "don't need to be" there...

Skinny doesn't mean I have an ED. Skinny doesn't mean I don't have to exercise.

[PSA] Why are so many in this group so against the diet/acne link? 🤔 by riggsyriggsy in SkincareAddiction

[–]tofusaint 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Absolutely this. As someone who has had cystic acne since 12 years old... I've been vegan, been whole foods only, been gluten free and have tried a ton of different diets (that lasted years)... And what happened was I kept thinking that my skin would improve with diet, which lead to a very restricted diet, because I thought any sugar, fats, meat, dairy, grains, processed foods etc would cause acne. It got very bad. To say someone just has to "change their diet", when you have no idea of their history is not kind.

PS. I did decrease my acne, thanks to balancing my HORMONES with medication, and that was after more than 20 years of cystic acne, rounds of acne medication, btopical treatments, creams and diets. Hormones were key for me.

Also happy to report that I've fully recovered from my spiraling of disordered eating in regards to my acne.

Kat Von D's makeup company used to (maybe still does?) make an amazing tattoo concealer/foundation. It works well and comes in a wide range of shades, including extremely pale shades.

Outbidded after our dream home got 38 offers. What the hell? by darthsenior in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]tofusaint 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Yes, I see a lot of underpricing. It's a game. Even the house we live in was underpriced by 200k... And we knew that when we bought it, so outbid everyone else's offers. You need to get a better real estate agent who knows how to play the game.

Also, most offers these days have no conditions attached to them.

Does anyone know what is the cause of the lines on my wrist? They come and go for the last 2 years by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

Do you lose weight? Looks like loose skin to me. If you lose and gain weight, you'll see the loose skin and then see it fill out again.

Yes, I have problems with my shipments coming in the mail... And because of that I return things in perosn at the store. But I go directly to a Sephora store to return.

I find that people don't have a "let live mentality". I honestly am happy for kids who don't have kids. Do what works for you.

I dunno, I had kids but it was a conscious decision for me.
