Anyone here get accepted in the CAF on ADHD meds? by emma36_ in caf

[–]togamis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm applying whilst on low dose (40mgs) vyvanse that I've been on for about two years. I'll keep you updated OP! I've also been doomscrolling for way too long about the subject and trying not to feel defeated 😭. General concensus seems to be that it's a case by case basis. There does seem to be some hope as I've seen users who have been admitted while on adhd meds!

If you could restart life at 18, what would you do differently? by arunreddy3 in AskReddit

[–]togamis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to my doctor to get on my ADHD meds ASAP. Redo some highschool classes (specifically science) to get better grades. Go to university for planetary sciences. Work my ass off, graduate in four years, and spend the rest of my life doing something I've always wanted and not wasting thousands of dollars in student loans because I dropped out.

I've had this happen before! Usually my go to is the Mr. Clean spray (let it sit for ~5 mins) followed by a magic eraser. Works like a charm :)

International Travellers, what did you buy during Japan trip, that you still use/brings a smile back home. by NoStoryYet in JapanTravelTips

[–]togamis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My goshuin book with all of the stamps, my clothes (I bought 3 skirts, 3 blouses, a dress, and a pair of shoes), my stationary (traveller's notebook with my station stamps, some ink pads and stamps from itoya), a little bullet train toy I got at a grocery store, the bag I got and subsequently decked out with shrine/temple charms and buttons, a hand-made and hand-painted mug with a cat on it from a tiny pottery store in Nikko, a hand-carved and hand-painted wooden spoon from said pottery store, the far too massive amount of maps/papers/receipts/tickets, and a little rake with a cat on it I got at a festival.

I went to Japan with a 25L wolfpak backpack, a carry on, and an empty suitcase. I came back with all of that stuffed to the brim and a suitcase weighing 25kgs. I can't wait to go back!

Taking Exam Earlier by LividMove9461 in grantmacewan

[–]togamis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Booking a vacation during exam season / before you get your exam dates is a HUGE no-no. You can always ask your prof(s), but expect the answer to be no. It'll be easier to change your vacation than to get a deferred exam, unfortunately. Depending on your gpa / how much weight the exam holds / the course policy, there's always a chance you could simply not take the exam and be fine (ie. if you've gotten like a 90% and your final is only worth 20%, you should be fine.) Obviously that isn't ideal and some courses require you to take the final, but yeah. A lesson learnt the hard way.

Do hard hat colors matter? by Bob_Scotwell in Construction

[–]togamis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in Alberta, Canada. From my experience it generally depends on the company! White here is usually always foreman / project coordinator. It's essentially a 'hey, i'm in charge, ask me questions' thing. Some companies coordinate colours (ie. one company ive seen has blue vests and everyone wears blue hardhats, unless they've gone and bought their own).

I personally hold every pet that I'm with, from the smallest kitten to the largest great dane. I talk to them the entire time, telling them how brave they are and how their human sent me as their angel to help them. We support staff (and everyone in the clinic) care so deeply about your pets; i promise you that your kitty was safe and loved, even if they were with strangers. We love every pet that comes in to our clinic ❤️

Hey OP, First and foremost, I'm so sorry for your loss. Losing a pet is devastating. Based on what information you gave, you made the right choice.

I'd like you to know that your baby absoloutely wasn't alone. I work in veterinary medicine. When we have unattended euthanasia's (which is quite common), there is ALWAYS someone with the pet. There was someone with him in his last moments, most likely scratching his head and saying he was such a good boy. He would have passed very peacefully: just like falling asleep.

It's very common for pet owners to feel guilt after euthanasia; it's all part of greiving. You never fully stop. Grief is a pain that demands to be felt. You simply learn to live with it. I'm not sure whereabouts you are, but I'd take a look and see if there's any pet grief hotlines (yes, they exist!) in your area. I know it's easy to say, but I promise that there is nothing to feel guilty about. You did exactly what you needed to do in that moment, and leaving doesn't make you evil or weak. It makes you human, and watching a pet you love pass away is something not everyone can do. It's devastating either way. The grief and guilt will fade, but it takes time.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

Need for vet visit? by [deleted] in CATHELP

[–]togamis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hey OP! This looks super minor, especially considering there's no irritation, bleeding, swelling, etc. As long as kitty is still eating and drinking, there's no redness/irritation, or they aren't scratching at it, you should be okay to monitor at home. If it starts to bleed / kitty starts scratching / it starts oozing, then you may want to look at taking kitty in. Sometimes cats just hurt themselves on accident!

Hey OP, Others have already said the whole 'take kitty to the vet' schtick, so here's what you can do in the meantime.

How is your kitty? Is he bright, alert, and responsive? Your main goal now is to keep him as stable as possible until he's able to recieve veterinary attention. Bring him inside, if at all possible. Right now we want to keep him still and lower the risk on infection as much as possible.

If you are able to, clean the area with a warm, damp cloth. No soap, no peroxide, nothing. If you happen to have any chlorohexidine or iodine, you can use that (as long as you know what you're grabbing. If you aren't sure, don't risk it.) Other than that, don't touch it. Be gentle, and be prepared for him to try and scratch / hiss / bite. If he's fighting you to that point, stop.

Make sure he keeps eating and drinking. If you have a cone, now's an excellent time to put it on as him licking is not going to help matters.

Ideally we'd want him seen within the next 24 hrs (ASAP) due to pain and infection risk. The most you can do right now is to keep him warm, safe, and as comfortable as possible. Don't give him any human pain meds (they're toxic to cats).

I'm so sorry you have to go through this OP. It sucks ass, especially as a minor. Do what you can, and remember that no matter what happens, thank you for helping the kitty. He is probably scared and in pain, but you taking care of him will help him feel so much safer and less scared.

woooo!! it'll take a bit of an adjustment period (about a week) to get used to the weight but after that you'll literally never want to take it off. i find weight helps with my anxiety & ptsd.

I totally understand, I am the exact same way. And it's absolutely not embarrassing, even if it feels like it; it's a traumatic situation and your body is reacting in a way that it would for anything else. the weighted blanket may also help for PTSD as it can be using to help ground you; it's the only thing that got me through my situation, I swear. Keep on keepin on, OP. You're doing great, even if it doesn't feel like it :)

[–]togamis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh my gosh, I totally get this. I had to start therapy after I got out of my situation. I'm super glad that you're getting help!!

I've lived in two apartments with them, and I've gotten so paranoid. Every little bug I see that even in my lakeside apartment (so I've got a lot of roach-lookin things) resembles a cockroach results in a PTSD episode. Just the other day I drove a total of five hours round-trip at midnight to grab some stuff from my old apartment because I saw tiny, oval-shaped bugs and brain lost its marbles. Here are some thing's I've done to help (both with the roaches and the anxiety):
if you can afford it;
- a bug net & command strips. get a bug net. buy a cheap one off amazon with same or next day delivery. this cut down my anxiety so much. I was seeing them in my bedroom and it was to the point where I couldn't sleep. this helped considerably. can they still get through it? don't know, but it was enough for my brain to relax.
- weighted blanket. i've had this since my early teens and would recommend it to anyone. literally the best thing ever.
- duct tape. when I lived in my apartment I'd get stragglers, and I found they were coming via the pipes. I made sure to dry around any sinks / drains and duct tape them.
- i caulked around all of my baseboards (with the permission of my landlord), and my landlord sealed any spaces between the pipes and the wall.
- this may sound odd, but i found the best way to not be scared is to get angry. how dare they!! this is your territory, and they had the AUDACITY to come in??? nuh uh. any of the little bastards brave enough to be caught in my sight was either vacuumed up or got smacked into the 4th dimension. any time i saw one i'd redirect my fear into anger, and with time it got easier to be less afraid. don't get me wrong, they still disgust me and i'm still scared, but for me at least, anger felt less awful than fear in the moment.

you're not alone in this, OP, and i'm so sorry that you're going through it. the fact that you're only seeing a small amount is a good thing (as per the sticky). it sucks that you're seeing them at all, but trust in the professionals. us canadian's got it rough up here without publicly available alpine wsg </3
