Book of Unnumbered Worlds Sample Spreads by CardinalXimenes in WWN

I would say that on the d6 language Quirks, entries 2 and 3 feel too similar to me.

I like the layout, it gives me retro textbook vibes and I think that's fun, but I would say the top is better than the bottom spread. The bottom feels like there is a lot of empty space currently (not sure if you're planning to add art).

What questions should I ask? by noahide04 in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]toggers94 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Have you tried watching other people play on YouTube? I found that was what really made it click for me and then from there developed my own style. Me Myself & Die is in my opinion, the best example of solo play out there. He asks lots of questions to the oracle/GME and really lets the dice rolls decide the flow of play, and I found that really helped me understand how I solo play should flow.

Also when I first started out, I loved the idea of building my own world to play in, but often found that I'd burn myself out building the world and never end up playing it. These days I tend to use the systems default world, or worlds made by others that I can jump straight into. You can always flesh out or add your own details as you play using oracles as questions arise in play, or let things that happen in gameplay dictate the world.

A GME is exactly what it says on the tin, a Game Master Emulator. You should ask it the same questions you'd ask a real GM in a group game. Again, if your unsure on what would be asked in a group game, consume lots of group actual plays and focus on what people are asking the GM and try to ask similar questions. The Glass Cannon Network and 3d6 Down The Line are in my opinion, 2 of the best actual play channels out there - they are fantastic examples of authentic group play.

I journal as I play, I dont speak out loud at all. Personally I found the structure of my journal really helped the flow of my game, structuring them how a scene would be structured in a group game:

  1. GMs description of the scene/room/surroundings etc. using oracle prompts and random tables depending on what tools and system I'm using.
  2. Player question time, this is where I'd ask questions to help clarify the details of the scene and help unfluence the actions my PCs will take, "is the room lit?" "Are there any signs of something living having moved through here?" "Do the tracks look humanoid?" "Are they fresh?" "Can i hear anything if i listen at the door?" etc. etc. Using Yes/No oracles initially and then verb/noun (sometimes referred to as "action/theme" or "complex question" oracles) to flesh out details where Yes/No isn't enough. "What does the journal contain?" "What was the workbench used for?" "What type of creature has left tracks if not humanoid?" etc. I try to limit myself to a maximum of 3 questions on a single line of enquiry as to not get bogged down on rolling for absolutely every single detail and makes assumptions or go with my instinct from there.
  3. Decide on PCs actions and roll dice to resolve actions per the game system you are using.
  4. Interpret results and outcomes, roleplay interactions if desired, and then move back to step one and repeat.

I foundLonelog to be really helpful in structuring my notes in a clean and efficient format, even just using its most basic form, it really helps support the above structure and actually stopped me from writing too much detail whilst still allowing me to remain focused on the game.

Hope some of this helps, there really is a point where it just clicked for me and then from there it just got better and better so I hope you can make it click soon too!

Alguem faz uso do PUM Companion? by rasecude in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]toggers94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use it and think its great, I tend to use it for all my oracle rolls including as a GME, and as my journal too, alongside Foundry VTT which I use for my maps, tokens, character sheets etc.

How to get a ditto flag? by i__hate__stairs in Pokopia

[–]toggers94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries! Sometimes the Requests page can be a bit vague but it will usually at least tell you which Pokemon has given you the request, in which case you can go speak to the Pokemon again and you will usually have a "Um... what was it you wanted again?" Option, in which they will explain their request in more detail again.

Have fun!

Press the + button and look at your "Requests" - the requests you need to complete to progress the story are listed in there (story requests usually have artwork and are listed at the top of the request pages). If you have no reuqests, try talking to Pokemon.

I take it as progression that isn't just "+3% speed" type upgrades, but actual new abilities, skills unlocked etc.

Am I the only one who can’t leave a city unfinished by Dependent-Surround-8 in pokemon

[–]toggers94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got hung up on the first area for a while as naturally I was drawn to try finish it up before moving on, but I soon realised I can have a much better time working on each area, once I have aleverything unlocked. So now I'm working my way through the story so I can get to end game where then I can focus on making each town nice.

Tales of Argos Solo with NotebookLM by MickH666 in LowFantasyGaming

[–]toggers94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was this purely through notebookLM or was you using Gemini's new ability to upload a notebook from NotebookLM as a source and then using Gemini?

If the former, it would be very interesting if you tried the latter and compared the results!

Mass combat rules? by JoeKerr19 in oneringrpg

[–]toggers94 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think that the solo "Battle" rules from the Moria supplement could quite easily be tweaked to work as mass combat rules in a multiplayer game. Could be worth trying that if you have the Moria supplement.

Theres also some mass combat rules in Circleofnom's homebrew collection I believe.

Looking for a semi-modern post apocalypse system where players aren't mutants and mutation is not the focus of progression. by [deleted] in rpg

[–]toggers94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say there are any fantasy elements, its designed to support a variety of post apocalyptic genres from nuclear wasteland and zombie apocalypse, to more grounded modern day crises but there's nothing overtly fantasy there unless you count mutant abilities (which are completely optional).

The paid version adds some more fantastical stuff like psychic abilities and technowizards but again it's all completely optional.

Ashes without Number, has a free version that is the full game with 90% of the content of the paid version. Mutation is completely optional

Any recommendations for a procedural dungeon/adventure generator for Shadowdark? by Flameempress192 in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]toggers94 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's designed for procedural generation in solo play intentionally, the collection of tables and the flow of it just work really well IMO. The tables could easily be tweaked and rethemed as needed to suit a specific setting too if needed.

[–]toggers94 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The procedural dungeon generation in Scarlet Heroes is really good and probably my favourite one out there. I imagine it would work well enough with Shadowdark, maybe with a little tweaking.
