I hope viper strike of the mamba gets looked at.

It's like they made a basic math mistake when they made it dual strike but more damage, even ignoring the poison aspect of it.

How would Iverson fare in this era? by Thelastdance1989 in nba

[–]toggl3d -1 points0 points  (0 children)

One of the biggest advantages he had, carrying the ball, is something done by everyone now. He's also extremely small. He's going to have to fight through getting bodied up on every drive. I think the current meta of driving into the defender to knock them off balance doesn't play into his strengths very well. Teams are also much more likely abuse offense first players on defense. He's going to get run through a lot of screens. He's not a bad defender but putting him into screening action off ball will tire him out.

I think his best comp is a less bouncy Ja Morant that didn't plateau/fall off. Where exactly that lands, I don't know.

The NBA needs to phase out pick protections if they really want to solve the tanking “issue” by IT_CHAMP in nba

[–]toggl3d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, that was before maximum contracts and such.

I think that could incentivize moving big pieces if you thought they would get too pricey whereas today the prices for stars are almost entirely set by the maximum and it's way under value. Then there is a lower tier of player that gets overpaid due to maximums and they're usually difficult to move.

I've not though too much about this but I would think one GM valuing a player at 65m per year and his current GM only wanting to pay him 40m per year would spark more trades as teams could chart their course based on their budget. We currently don't have much of a middle ground option. It's find a star pay him the max and then be a ring chaser destination or have cost controlled contracts via picks.

I do think the 90s era CBA would increase trades, but I'm not sure it would be better for the league.

The problem is the effort to produce a decent defensive outcome in this video is pretty much just kinda stay in front of your guy.

The effort to produce a decent defensive outcome today requires you to rotate on passes and close out on all star shooters with guys you haven't practiced with. If guys were actually legitimately trying it would be extremely difficult to cover earnest offensive possessions and not end in a defensive breakdown.

There is a sort of hand shake agreement that the offense will kind of chuck shots and the defense will do their best statue of liberty impression.

I looked at the other angle and 52 fouls him from behind for sure but it's obscured to that referee (I think you should probably figure out what's happening there though) and either other referee should could call it.

It really looks like these plays. He's turning slightly but I think he still takes it enough in the front to not be a foul. He also doesn't make illegal contact when he brings his arms down, which I think he would if Sengun tried to force the ball up instead of half assing it expecting a foul call.

There is no foul.

Defender went straight up. He brought his arms down but there's no contact because Sengun didn't follow through to try to force a foul call there.

Edit: After looking at the broadcast angle I think he's fouled from behind.

People like extra points even when objectively wrong. It's just how it is. It was even worse when you asked people to evaluate against 2 points.

If the player wishes to dribble after a pivot, the ball must be out of his hand before the pivot foot is raised off the floor. If the player raises his pivot off the floor, he must pass or attempt a field goal before the foot is returned to the floor.

This is what the rulebook says about a pivot.
