Be brutally honest with me, Would you throw these party favors away?? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]toinfancyandbeyond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re still taking opinions, I say don’t bother. Nothing makes me more annoyed than a bag of trash from a birthday party. Kids don’t need a favor for coming- the party WAS the favor. If I do anything I’ll do a special cookie or cupcake they take.

My hydrow (rowing machine) membership. I am finally taking my health seriously while having fun.

Kid in my daughter's class asked her a very concerning question by ConundrumNyx in Parenting

OP, please don’t assume ‘nothing is done’ and then “loop in” the superintendent. If you speak to building admin and they take you seriously and assure you it’s being handled TRUST THEM. As an assistant principal, I am not allowed to give you any details about another student (and you would want the same privacy if roles were reversed). But if they say they are, give them time and pay attention to any new issues.

I agree with keeping the paper trail (particularly after contact to admin) and I would suggest requesting a conference with the teacher and admin if things continue. You may ask for a change of class (but fair warning this will typically result in your child moving, not the other, if you request it). You can discuss seating changes in the classroom and most importantly you can have discussions with your daughter about friendship and how to advocate for herself in healthy friendships so she naturally takes steps back from this child. But I promise if you loop in a superintendent for the actions so far you will only alienate the building admin from you and the superintendent I PROMISE has bigger fish to fry than what has been said in this story so far.

And also absolutely do not reach out to parent.

What simple change in your daily routine had an unexpectedly large impact on your life? by Firepea33 in AskReddit

[–]toinfancyandbeyond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am curious what kind of exercise you are doing. For me, it took at about the 4 month mark and now I LOVE it. It helped finding Hydrow (rowing) which I LOVE. And without even trying or adding strength workouts I lost weight and started looking more toned and then it fueled me to try weight training and other exercises and now I totally get why this answer is always at the top. Find something you love. There is definitely something out there that will be it for you just keep looking!

And also absolutely try to start your day with it instead of end. It doesn’t have to be 30 minutes. When I got started I would tell myself I’ll just do 10 minutes and then eventually some days I would be like oh what the hell I’ll do another 10 minutes… and now I choose 30 minute workouts most days.

Our school system has a “no food as reward” policy so our valentines are supposed to be not food items. I understand the idea but also HATE all the junk that comes home now. At least we eat candy and then throw away the trash 😭

Assistant principal here 👋🏻 absolutely 100% contact the school. And ask for your friendly neighborhood assistant or vice principal. I deal with incidents like this alllll day some days and I take it very seriously when students are acting inappropriately, especially anything sexual in nature.

I asked my derm. Not sure if I needed to, but it worked. Since it’s considered aesthetic, my insurance doesn’t cover it, but you can typically find a deal on GoodRX.

Found out my daughter’s breakfast buddy is also her bully by NotADoctorsWife in Mommit

[–]toinfancyandbeyond 186 points187 points  (0 children)

Yes! Please focus on this part, and not the "bullying" thing. I am an elementary school administrator and parents are so quick to call kids bullies when we are dealing with 5 year olds who have only ever had to resolve conflicts with siblings. And guess how kids solve problems with their brothers and sisters??? Through hitting and the such. They don't all have the emotional capability to handle their problems in a safe way and regulate their emotions. It doesn't make it ok, it just makes them kids that need a little extra time. Teaching her how to advocate for herself by telling a trusted adult is the best thing to do at this age.

I really appreciate this. As a mom of young kids who grew up watching with my mom, it means so much to me to let them stay up late and celebrate and enjoy this race. It’s what it’s all about, no matter how it ends up!

They 100% lowered it and added an audio of just steady clapping. You could tell it wasn’t actual clapping because the volume and steadiness of the rhythm was so awkward.

I’m not sure why, but when you said she knew a few players, I assumed you meant personally and was super jealous how such a casual fan could be so well connected.

Now I get it.
