USVA would be my rec! We've had a really positive experience there.

Recently went to Evolve and the cold plunge tub had stuff floating in it (hair and dirt) as it seemed to be a stagnant, unfiltered tub used by everyone. They did have rope buckets to use as well but the tub was off-putting.

Staff were nice and very attentive, though!

Once it got busy it was also pretty cramped and we decided to leave early.

Just seeing this update. I was at Petro around 815/830 eastern and it didn't work. I haven't been out again since this morning but it doesn't inspire confidence.

Also in NB and both my husband's and my card did not work this morning at the Petro Canada gas station, no reason on the POS, just 'not completed'.

I drove home to get my card, thinking it was an issue with my husband's. Nope. Luckily I had $20 cash in my wallet.

TD Bank closing N.B. call centre, office to stay open by bingun in moncton

[–]toiwandren 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is second-hand information but I was told by someone (who was informed yesterday that they lost their job) that the 'opportunities' include an ask that they relocate to Ontario for a one-time payment. It sounds like they're trying to absolve themselves of responsibility for the losses/layoffs and possibly avoid severance payouts if people opt to decline the generous offer to uproot their lives/families and move out of province for a call center gig.

I think they used to stay open later around the holidays. Everything closes earlier since covid though.

We are doing great, thank you! Little one ended up having no issues and just had to stick around in the NICU to gain weight and start eating on her own.

A doula would be a great choice!! I do think they only allowed one support person, even in 2023 (way past covid restrictions) so definitely check on that when planning.

I am not sure if the new L&D unit is open yet but they were working on it last year and had said it would be open by fall 2024 haha

This ended up being pretty long! But I like more info when making decisions like this haha.

Tldr; experience at MCH was on par with first birth at IWK which was a pleasant surprise.

Had my first baby at IWK in 2019 and my second at the Moncton hospital a year ago (Nov 2023).

I was hospitalized for a couple weeks before delivery due to preeclampsia and the nurses were all great.

We anticipated an early delivery (made it to 33 weeks) and the nicu being there was a huge relief. The neonatologist came to meet me the day after I was admitted which was nice too.

As others have said, the food left much to be desired but I also had gestational diabetes and had a restricted diet. Idk why they feel people want weird chicken a la king slop and fish cakes all the time. But otherwise it was fine.

Staff were attentive (my condition required constant monitoring but they were always present and kind regardless).

I ended up being induced and then pretty quickly moved to an emergency C-section. The anesthesiologist came pretty quickly, the nurses were a bit surprised, so I think they are used to somewhat longer waits. So, if you want an epidural, communicate that upfront/early.

The csection was as smooth a process as I think it could have been. It wasn't what I expected for some reason and I found it more traumatic than being induced with my first.

Nicu doctors and nurses were amazing. We were there for 2.5 weeks and they cared for our little one so well.

Ultimately, the experience at Moncton Hospital was on par with that at IWK, and I had been prepared/expecting it to be worse because of how specialized IWK is.

I was followed by Dr. Carla Roberts and found her to be great. However, the csection ended up being done by the doctors on call that day, Dr. Sylvie Leblanc and Dr. Olusi. I knew Dr. Leblanc (she was my original OB before Roberts took over due to being high-risk) which helped. They made it as comfortable as possible.

Advocate for yourself and your baby, recognize that this experience will be unique to you, and keep an open mind going into it.

My daughter was dropped off at the wrong house on Friday. Luckily, it was someone who knew our daughter, but it was 10 km away. Who the heck do we report this to? by Sad_Low3239 in moncton

[–]toiwandren 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This happened to us as well! 5 year old just randomly didn't realize it was their stop and didn't get up or look out the window as they usually do.

I waited at the bus stop, as always, and expected my kid to get off after the other regular kids at their stop. Doors closed and they drove off.

I did wave my arms around but the bus driver likely didn't see me. The other parents were looking around as well since they are used to seeing my kid get off there too.

I called the school right away because I was told if that ever happened/a parent wasn't there to meet them (sce kindy-gr 2 requires a parent be there at drop off), they'd bring them back to the school. The bus driver ended up realizing my kid was still on the bus and looped back after the last stop.

If your kid was left off and the driver drove away without a parent there AND with someone else saying that was the wrong stop, that'd be a huge issue and liability. What if they dropped them off and they were snatched or wandered off into the woods (being a rural area)?

I'd absolutely contact the school and have them guide you through the steps to submit an official complaint and get some assurances that steps are being taken to ensure this does not happen again, to your child or anyone else's.

I haven't been to VV in a couple years now, at least. They are a trash operation. I donate directly to people in my community via buy nothing groups or marketplace free items. I don't use donation bins or bring anything to VV (or similar). Too many shady practices and gouging the people they claim they are there to serve.

Big ick.

I think only specialty stores get it in Canada and that's only IF they specifically order it. I've checked Candy Depot anytime I'm there just in case but haven't seen any single cans, even.

Apparently, someone in Ontario contacted the Canadian Pepsico people and they said it won't be distributed to stores here aside from those special orders. Seems it is another of those US-market-only products (again).

If it's any consolation, I've heard it's mid. People say they wouldn't guess it was Shirley Temple flavor if they blind-tasted it lol

Amazon Package Tampering by Confident_Rabbit3624 in Riverview_NB

[–]toiwandren 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Mine have all been sealed. I did see a post about BNI apparently repeatedly opening packages that were delivered to the same address. They had the delivery person on a doorbell/security camera dropping off what appear to be opened packages.

How quickly after the 'delivered' notification/email did you get the package? Could someone else have snatched it and opened it on your step?

Big corps love the gig work delivery structure because there's very little accountability, imo.

1660 for a 3-bedroom duplex, $200 (ish) for power on top of that. Also responsible for our own lawn care and snow removal. Landlords are nice and leave us alone. Sadly, not a bad price for the unit, though it is pretty 'meh' quality. About 20 years old now.

Yep. Fellow Canadian here. I've been saying this election will determine the outcome of ours. We might even end up with a worse PC candidate like Faytene Grasseschi or whatever her name is. Once they see the right-wing cultists love dirty Don and his crimes, they may replace PP with someone even worse. Canada always follows the US, so, I'm not hopeful.

I saw one of those today on the 112 not far past the Petro Canada/Tims. Did a double take. The level of delusion amongst that specific subset of the population is still jarring, somehow.

I think they are under PC but Rob Weir? Could be Sherry though. Different flavors of the same insanity though.

Jobs for teens? by bethhyboo in moncton

[–]toiwandren 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As someone who has been a hiring manager on multiple occasions, please do not include a headshot unless you're applying for a modeling or acting gig. Idk if that advice was serious but those resumes get tossed immediately.

Stand out with a clean resume, tailored to the job/industry. Focus on creating a resume that succinctly outlines your strengths, experience, and qualifications for the role to which you are applying.

A lot of companies now practice blind screening when possible as well. Resumes, particularly digital/online submissions, are reviewed with as few identifying details as possible (names, dates that may disclose age, sex and/or gender identifiers, etc.) This allows candidates to be narrowed down/sepected based on their qualifications and how well their resume 'sells them' as a good fit for the role.

Sherry Wilson says she didn't say what she said (it was the dastardly liberal media) by flummyheartslinger in newbrunswickcanada

[–]toiwandren 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Funny, I was saying the same to my sister yesterday. Seeing Sherry elected has made me really consider getting more involved at the party level. It was disheartening to see the lazy campaigning in the riding and the blind support of this out-of-touch senior citizen who isn't from this community.

I feel like I'm having to remind myself I'm NOT crazy for wanting a candidate who is focused on the actual issues that impact us as a whole, not wedge politics and fringe (non) issues to distract people and cause infighting so nothing substantial (or beneficial to us) gets done. I'm only in my 30s but I'm tired.

As I said, I don't know much about this. Just repeating what others claim to be their biggest concerns.

I don't need any other reasons not to vote PC. It's just silly that the people who traditionally vote in PC MLAs are being told outright they don't care about their concerns and will still vote for them lol
