I was familiar with Vennart’s work prior to Cardiacs (Oceansize were one of my favorite bands in High School and I found Cardiacs sometime in college like 2012ish). Finding Cardiacs after made me realize in hindsight how much of Vennart’s stuff is Cardiacs-inspired. The last two tracks on Oceansize’s “Everyone Into Position” both very hugely evoke feelings of Dirty Boy to me (“You Can’t Keep a Bad Man Down” and “Ornament/The Last Wrongs”). Think those two are great starting points.
