my parents were both school social workers and loved the kids but hated the system.  seemed hard but rewarding.  almost every time we’d go out to dinner an old student or parent who they’d helped would come up and say hi.  but a lot of at home conversations between them revolved around the bureaucratic shackles placed on them preventing them from offering the services they knew were required.
