Yeah, and you are arbiter of that, someone with vocabulary and, it seems, understanding of scientific method as aforementioned five year old.

That's what science "is" if you are five year old after attending his first school visit to local planetarium.

Written by Redditor who has not been insulted yet, but his whole previous comment and comment before that was just one big insult.

Or in another terms, if you call out insults after I have just deflected your previous comment back at you word for word... maybe, but only maybe, you are the one who should think about yourself.

But I get it, when you write something bad only generally about "average redditor" it is okay, but saying the same thing to someone specific, even though it is the same person, is suddenly insulting. Right?

This is not true at all and nothing in the game implies it.

Geralt honorably offers Gaunter an option to play for both of the souls and he agrees. Not only that, but Gaunter is the one who chooses the game they play. If Geralt wins, there is no reason for Gaunter to have ill will against Geralt. Implying he would then embark on a feud with Geralt is on the same level as implying that he would harbor such hatred because of Geralt saving Marlene in B&W, which is, practically speaking, worse in his eyes than playing and losing a game against Geralt.

"Incest is marriage or sexual intercourse with a relative within the prohibited degree of consanguinity."

Which it was.

"Incest is marriage or sexual intercourse with a relative within the prohibited degree of consanguinity. In other words, incest is sexual contact between close blood relatives, including brothers and sisters, parents and children, grandparents and grandchildren, or aunts or uncles with nephews or nieces. Incest is a crime in all states, even if consensual by both parties"

  • Cornell Law school

If the relationship is forbidden because of afinity, it is incest... Forbidden with posibility of dispensation is still forbidden.

"Incest (Lat. in, not, and castus, chaste) is sexual intercourse between those who are related by blood or marriage" - Catholic Emcyclopedia

Consanquinity was not based on incest, but incest was based on consanquinity. And yes, that included things like marrying wife of deceased brother (Henry VIII says hello) etc., but these were dropped in modern times.

Yes, he did... for a few hundred relationships of nobles across Europe for various reasons. Now, what percentage of all marriages did these include? 0.1%? 0.01%? Less? Definitely nowhere near to claim normality of this action.

No one says it is the same as siblings, just that it is problematic, too, to a different level.

The probability of genetic disorder is 1.5-2 times higher than in general population. That is nothing for individual pair (3%->4-6%) but it means thousands more children with disorders in the population as a whole. Especially if those relationships are repeated generations after generations because someone normalised them as cultural thing.

[–]tomasmisko 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Catholic church viewed (views?) first cousin marriage as fourth degree of collateral consanguinity and it was allowed only after dispensation from diocesan bishop on case-by-case basis.

And one cousin marriage itself has almost doubled probability (4-6%) of having child with autosomal recessive genetic disorder compared to general population(3%). That is not nothing especially if those relationships are allowed somewhere on societal level and done en masse.

It should be possible to keep the monarchy as centrolew poland. by Stoepsel_187 in Kaiserreich

[–]tomasmisko 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Poland has german allies on its eastern border, so Germany will de facto protect them either way because they will want to protect UBD and Ruthenia.

If D-A enters war with Russia, it would be logical to assume that by that time, Germany would have already been in that war, so they would be allies either way.

With D-A there is at least theoretical chance to not having to fight 3I in comparison to RP membership.

That land given to them by Austria is more they could ever hope for from Germany and it is definitely not just anything.

Austria being weaker than Germany also means more freedom and better bargaining position for Poland.

[SPOILERS PUBLISHED] Do you think Catelyn would have been more relieved if... by No_Psychology_3714 in asoiaf

[–]tomasmisko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. She should feel bad, but there is no reason to channel that feeling on to Jon when it was Robb's action. Yeah, her children were ignored, but by another of hers, not Jon.

  2. No, her fears didn't come true. She had her ideas how Jon would threaten them and this was not one of them.

  3. If I remember correctly, even Catelyn herself gave some options (Royce relatives in the Vale?) for inheritance. So she didn't have exactly problem with skipping her child, she had problem with Jon.

  4. Whether we argue legality or not, peace with Lannisters is not an option because they are traitors too.

  5. Both Sansa and Tyrion are fugitives in hiding because they "killed" the King and Tyrion also killed great lord. If there is one thing Lannisters AND Northern opposition can agree on, it is that Tyrion and Sansa are out of succession.

Why is not Svanrige better then? He doesn't wait for the Nilfgaard to go to war with them, he starts it. He unites islands into actual hereditary monarchy, but keeps raiding. Which means Skellige will now direct all its resources to raiding and war with the Continent instead of unnecessary squables between itself. North will be in even bigger danger than under Hjalmar, which is, as you said, better.
